  1. By far the Taylor freelance. I was able to get to near 90 degrees from correct orientation and the mag still oriented and slid in easily. If you miss the opening you know you did something stupid / too fast. It's enormous and very well designed for solid lockup. I've been shoving reloads into it pretty hard in dry fire over the past month and it's still super tight.
  2. Requiring payment solved several issues we were having. Generally it does also simplify the process at check in if you are getting a larger number of shooters. We allowed a 48 hour window for withdrawing with a $5 fee for admin. Matches were filling and we were having to scramble the morning of to balance walk ups and wait lists with no shows. Some shooters would sign up and never show up. One was asinine enough to sign up for 3 matches on the same day to hold his spot. For a while we were taking too long because squads became too large. We try to keep squads at 10 shooters per squad and no more than 12 which is what we have found to be optimal for resetting efficiency. Does every club need it? Probably not. There's other ways to handle no shows but this worked for us.
  3. Stop over thinking this and spend a solid 3 practice sessions learning how to build stable positions. Start with favorable targets at 200 yards and work out to 400. Once you've realized you CAN hit the target, practice until 400 is easy. Then start adding a timer in to see how quickly you can build a position and get first round hits. There's no reasonable multigun target you need more than 8x in an optic particularly within 400 yards. Even in the situation of hidden black / lead gray targets hidden in a shaded woods in the early morning 8x has been plenty of magnification to identify and hit any target. Heck, even the iron sight shooters managed to pick them out eventually.
  4. Maybe spray it down with some brake cleaner to get the chunks out of the trigger group. Typically when I start getting a crunchy trigger instead of the amazingly smooth feel I'm used to I'll spray, relube and go another couple thousand.
  5. Exactly this. The SCS should protrude the buffer tube roughly 0.03", or the width of the shim. It may not be necessary.
  6. You win. I'm not about that 125 F life. Although I am jealous of your lack of humidity for powder consistency. I guess I got lucky. I've been using the same GLOCK mag bodies since 2016. The Glock pistol guys say I should have plenty of life left in them so I'll just keep changing springs and see how they turn out. I always download my reload mags and unloaded start mags. That's a function of how much space is available for the bullet column to compress when pressed against a bolt in the case of the PCC. This is common practice in pistol as well and of course the 223 AR guys have done this for decades. 18 rounds in a 20 rounder for example. Hell, my first 3 gun match I thought i was a clever boy jamming 31 rounds in a PMAG. That was a lesson that stuck with me.
  7. Thanks for keeping us up to date @2Xalpha. I'm enjoying the brief notes and straightforward perspective.
  8. I find it hard to believe you personally experienced a GLOCK-brand-GLOCK magazine deform with heat. I haven't. Perhaps you're confused with ETS mags. I've left GLOCK-brand-GLOCK mags out in the beating Texas sun then run a stage in a GMR after several shooters had just run the same stage and had flawless cycling. My mags sit in my car for days in Texas when I don't feel like unloading the car. The only things that wear out are springs. like my MBX extensions just fine. I also like TTI and TF. This sounds like nonsense to push $100 vapor mags when there's a proven reliable design available for $25. Change my mind.
  9. Don't you gloss over that! Need details! Is Troy pumping iron in anticipation of weight req's being lifted?
  10. If you're prioritizing weight pick up the JP GMR-15 with the aluminum ultralight barrel. Under 6lbs and more importantly the weight is removed from the end of the rifle where it actually matters.
  11. Yep, both great links @Tampa-XD45 If this is for the Short Stroke we discussed I'd shoot what you have first, then disassemble the SCS and swap to 2 tungsten, 3 steel weights and try that. You can swap more tungsten if you want it softer or try more steel if you want a faster cycle.
  12. Ifffffff anyone wants to be as happy as rowdy I'd love to be your enabler No seriously, I love answering questions or doing demos at after match parties I still can't decide which weight SCS setup I like in my GMR's. Every time I play musical lowers I change my mind. The nice part is they all function no matter what combination I put together so I can shoot instead of "trouble-shoot."
  13. I'm over 25K suppressed on one of my GMR's. That was back when I was spinning a can on for falling steel and other outlaw matches and spinning a comp back on for USPSA. Keep in mind it was also loaned out with a diet of "I don't care as long as it's 9mm" ammo and "let's run everyone back to back because it speeds up cycle time at the match." I guess I'm firmly in the camp of I don't want to spend my time fighting my gear and the manufacturer and just want my guns to run.
  14. Our match results do not show deleted shooters online from submitted match results. We use exclusively Android to avoid Apple products. Our email exports from PS also do not have the deleted shooters. Might be an iOS issue.
  15. My GMR-15's all lock back with the new bolt designed for last round bolt hold open and short stroke SCS.
  16. Stroke it, big increase in performance. The LRBHO bolt is solid and just as reliable as a standard bolt.
  17. Haha, yeah I hear ya. I'm always happy to put everything on the table and give folks the go ahead to run the GMR's as hard as they like. Cheers!
  18. Rowdy, here's a Link to the mag release video. Don't bother with the CMC. It wont make it more than 500 rounds before it dies. Yes, the enhanced bolt it baller. I thought you shot it in the Aluminum Ultralight but to be honest, that gun gets passed around a lot so I can't always remember what was it in it.
  19. I figured it was Geco. It's not that it's hot, just a longer barrel than typical 9mm (pistols). I like how Geco shoots in my shorty. My 10.5" barrels shoot better compared to longer barrels with lighter bullets more because the gas works the comp better the shorter the barrel to a point. There's no real "lock" with blow back designs. The increased mass from the tungsten weights will slow the bolt from moving rearward more and should keep less gas from escaping through the chamber.
  20. If you're going with a 12" hand guard you will probably to stay around 13-14" barrel. I have a relatively large wingspan at 6'7" and still prefer a 9" hand guard with a 10" barrel. Is the 160 PF ammo a factory ammo? If you're not reloading I would also suggest either 5 tungsten or 4 tungsten 1 steel set up in the Short Stroke configuration. If I understand you are running JPSCS2-9-5H2? If so, I would order JPSCS2-MAINT-K15 and convert your "Enhanced" 9mm SCS to a Short Stroke and swap tungsten weights until you find a good balance.
  21. But now you get to spend all that time just loading ammo and practicing with your new PCC
  22. Let me know if you want any help or a nudge to change over. I might be able to get you set up with a pretty soft shooting JP
  23. Get the JP. It will last him as long as he wants to shoot. You and the whole family can run the same gun at matches to help justify, call it buying 1 PCC for 2-3 people. You do not want to get something that will malfunction. That will kill the fun for him and for you. Prioritize reliability over everything. That road leads to JP.
  24. Thank you for the real input. Folks around me that got theirs early and also have several thousand rounds on theirs have no problems. So far my experience mirrors your own. SRO is superior in every way. Lots of internet nonsense and "my friend of a friend who might or might not have the same optic sponsor I do says not to buy one until they are proven." All good. If the guy shooting against me has another optic I know I already have an advantage.
