  1. Check with George at EGW. I built a couple of Kimbers years ago and I removed the rear site and had a Bomar machined in. The dimensions allowed it back then, I don't know if they have changed or not. It was a easy machine job. It was harder to get the rear site out than it was to machine the slide for the Bomar. If the dimensions had not changed, any good smith that can cut in a Bomar could do the work. Hope this helps. Tommy Roupe
  2. Run a 11 or 12 lb spring with a shock buffer. The buffer pads are 2 dollars and when they get chewed up looking, change it. It will take the beating, that is what they are designed to do. It is the price to pay to race !!!
  3. That is what I was guessing. Back when I got started , I shot a Para that would hold 15 and I thought that it was the ticket. That was even before the 40 S&W was out. Thanks for the input. Tommy Roupe
  4. I have a friend that picked up a STI in 45 for a very good price. He loves the 45acp and wants to stay with it since his work gun is a 45acp. Any suggestions on increasing the capacity. He stated that he has 140 mags. I have not had my hands on them yet. I advised Dawson pads and Gramms internals if they are available. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. If it was a 40, I could get him up and running, I just don't know about the ACP. If he can get to 16 in the mag will help, 17 would be better.
  5. Tungsten does not hold up well is high wear areas of 1911 style guns. It is great for adding weight, but if it is used in the high wear areas, be prepared to spend money.
  6. .198 is standard, .200 will give a tighter lock up. EGW has a .203
  7. Shot the scope the other day after mounting, works great. I like the reticle , but could use more illumination.
  8. You will most likely need a adjustable block when you go suppressed, or goes with the Adams kit for the piston conversion. My 12.5 was so dirty with the can on it, I switched over to the piston and it is awesome.
  9. I am with you Michael, I want a 6.5 also. My guess is that it will be next year. Hope that DPMS is listening, they would sell fast !!
  10. why tune a mag if it runs ? If it does not run, then consider some tune up. Spend the money on bullets and powder. Tuned mags are not necessary just to say you have tuned mags.
  11. They have there hands full trying to keep up. If Brian wants to build a 1911 frame, he knows how. They make the best frames going. You will be glad that you got a PT frame. Brian is first class.
  12. I picked up one of the new Bushnell AR 1x4 illuminated the other day. A nice scope for the money so far. The glass is decent for the money and the reticle works. The Illumination sucks, can't pick it up at all in the daylight. I called Bushnell and the guy that I spoke to did not even know if the reticle was green or red. I asked for any suggestions and he had no answer. I was very disappointed with the service. I like the scope for the money , but the illumination is sub par. I am wondering if anyone else has tried one and maybe I have a weak lighted module and would just need to send it back for another. Any input would be appreciated on the illumination, any others that has one , chime in.
  13. I disagree on the only thing that can change velocity is the powder charge . Have you never notice velocity change as a barrel heats up ??? 30 FPS is not unreal.
  14. Del Ton ! 159.00 range. Mine shoots PMC into a 1" group with a dot.
  15. $750 with mags ? Mags are hard to find for a 40. With some work, you may be able to use STI mags. Rich at Canyon Creek knows the trick to run the mags. Factory Para's would loose their front sights and the rear sights were not super reliable. It will need trigger work.
  16. Dillion 550 for the 450 range, Rock Island 10mm in the 595 range. Here is a scenario. The 40 cal is shot and you are a hair off and score a clean C hit, but with the 45 you just touched the line and scored the A hit. Round count in the mags are the same and you are shooting a 180 in the 40 and a 185 in the 45. Physics at play, same bullet weight ? 45 is normally more accurate round ?
  17. EGW makes a great reamer. Carbon build up will cause the problem also.

    SJC Frame Weight

Maybe I did not explain it well enough in what I was saying. What I meant is the majority of the weight in a Glock is in the slide. The weight needs to be in the frame, barrel, guide rod, any non moving parts. Sorry for the confusion. Not sure how it sounded like I was talking about adding weight to a slide.
  19. As stated earlier in the post, JP is tough to beat. John lives and breaths this stuff. He is a great competitor in his own right and supports the sport. The JP is tough to beat. Like Jesse said, it can get confusing if you don't test enough. The JP will always run and if you are not a top level shooter, don't waist your time and money. There is a difference with the extra light BC, they do shoot softer, but you do need to know what you are getting into. I would be interested in one of the Ti carriers myself. Any contacts on it would help.

    SJC Frame Weight

The weight in the Glocks are in the slide, which is where you dont want it . You need the weight in the nonreciprocating parts for the gun to shoot flatter. The design of the Glock will only allow so light a slide then you run into reliability issues.
  21. Glenn at Lonestar Innovations, not much that Glenn can't machine.
  22. Almost right Waktasz, Rock Island Armory has a high cap pistol that is similar to a Para framed gun, only better. It is called a 2011. Rock Island makes some very nice pistols for the money, just ask Mike Seeklander. The patent has ran out on the STI frames , which has opened the door for some very good pistol frames. I have built to customs on RIA guns and have very happy owners. RIA branch of Armscor that makes other frames and slides for some very big names in the industry, you would be surprised who !!! Very good for the money.
  23. Thanks for the reply Mike. I also would love to see them out for sale. Hard to come by for some reason. I have built to customs on RIA pistols. Both turned out very well with very happy owners. The pistol in the pics would be awesome in 40 S&W for the games. I would be happy with the complete lower to build on. Mike, if you have any ideas, PM me on the complete lowers. A 6" would be killer. 24. Lonewolf does not make there barrels, they are made for them. They are good barrels made by a top barrel maker though.
