  1. You can't cut the Dawson to fit IDPA, it won't hold the insert.
  2. The grips for SV and STI are manufactured by the same company in Texas, unless things have changed.
  3. CCI primers are some of the hardest. If you can get Federals, go that route. I had to learn it the hard way when I used to shoot revolvers.
  4. I really need to move some pistols so I can make Omar and the gang happy.
  5. Keep the bolt carrier weight down and it will be a game changer. JP has it figured out with LMOS. Trim the barrel and it will be my next hunting rifle. The AR platform is the best route for follow up shots, bar none. I do want to see the Hunter in a 6.5 CM
  6. Wow, I remember those days. I remember going to a local match in Oxford , NC and some guy coming down from Virginia shooting this big framed pistol called a Para Ordnance. The dot was the hot ticket back then, and of coarse I had to have one. Made a big difference back then in my game. The C-more wasn't around yet and the reliability of the Tasco stunk. I had my dots done by Ross Dean also. Then Dave Dawson came out with a cool mount that made the Tasco even better. Aaron at C-More was very hard to work with at the time and Gayle tried her best to keep him straight. Donnie Fraley and George Smith went to bat for me with C-More and Aaron became a great person to work with. By the way, that guy from Virginia was named Todd Jarrett and we have been friends ever since. This sport has been great for me, many great memories and the friends that I have made are cherished still today. Some are gone now, but they are still shooting no doubt. To say been there , done that is a understatement. I have been honored by my acquaintances with some of the worlds best. Tommy Roupe THR Technologies/Roupe Grips
  7. I have had 2 of the Meoptas the glass is world class and the scope is daylight visible. The only reason I sold mine was to go to a 1x6, which I have yet to get. Still waiting.
  8. What is your mainspring, it sounds to light if you are not getting ignition. What type of primers, etc.
  9. As you can tell, I was not looking at the time frame, just trying to help !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. Is the frame carbon or stainless ? You will be able to get away with more on a stainless frame.
  11. I really like the idea of a thumbrest but my problem is that I have fairly large hands and my thumb rides very far forward on the dust cover. The simplicity of the slidestop as a rest is the best idea but it is to far to the rear for me.
  12. Scott Steele, I really like that grip on your pistol !!! Thanks, Tommy Roupe THR Technologies/Roupe Grips
  13. Spend the money, it makes the gunsmiths HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY !! Good Luck.
  14. When you say internals, I would consider that to be fire control parts. SV parts are a little more expensive, but Sandy and Brandon are great to work with. I dropped in a 1 1/2 lb trigger set up for my last fatgun that I built. SV is awesome. EGW makes great parts as well and George has been around longer than I. I would not hesitate on either company since both are true Pro's in the industry and George makes parts for other companies that may surprise you if you knew. He is that good. If you have Doug Jones that close to you, that is were I would go. Doug Jones has been doing this along time and his experience is tough to beat. Doug has helped me before and he is a true class act. He can make a very accurate gun, ask Jerry B. Tommy Roupe THR Technologies/Roupe Grips
  15. The shorter gun will point faster, your brain perceives a better sight picture up close. Like everyone said, try the same drill at distance.
  16. Glock triggers take more concentration than many other designs. I have carried Glocks for work for 20 years and during qualification, I still have to seriously pay attention to trigger control. People say that they can get very close to a 1911 trigger on a Glock, I have never felt one yet.
  17. Go with either the Dawson or the EGW. You need the extra metal on the dovetail and the factory Para's are junk. I had a new one and could move the front sight with my thumb.
  18. Always go heavier, again it is simple physics. It take more force to get the weight moving. It will decrease the flip. I tried one of the steel frames for the Glocks one time and the gun was great to shoot when it would run. The problem was that the steel would not flex enough for the pistol to be reliable. Very little recoil when it was heavier and lower bore of the Glock was much flatter then a 2011. They got to run though !!!

    Crack in glock

Glock will replace it for the cost of the shipping.
  20. It is simple physics, the added weight down low will counter the less weight up high. When a upper is lightened and the lower is stock, it will be a harsher recoil impulse, but will have less flip. The lightened slide does look cool, but if it would be a carry gun or self defense gun, stay away from all of the holes, just more places for dirt and grit to create a stoppage.
  21. I have yet to see one of the Rock Islands, would be interested. My dealer talked to Rock Island and he was told that a 40 would come out. Mike, if your out there, maybe some input on the Rock Islands.
  22. What recoil spring and hammer spring are you running ?
  23. It is very possible to shoot out a barrel in a short order. A lot depends on the type of powder used. I remember back in the old days, I used what I recall as HS-6 in a 38 super. the barrel was a Clark. Nothing was wrong with the barrel, the powder was very abrasive and it eat the lands at the top of the chamber forward. The barrel still shot OK accuracy wise, but the lands at the top were gone and it looked like I had shot sand for powder.
