Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Thanks for the information guys I'll give bullseye a try. I see a lot of double end wadcutters being offered my bullet casters, are they as good as hollow base wadcutters, or should I just seek out the hollow base version?
  2. I'm looking for advice on a good powder for mild .38 special loads. I've seen bullseye mentioned, then I've seen it mentioned that bullseye won't meter well my Dillon 550. I'm just planning on punching holes in paper with wadcutters, but I'd like to be as accurate as possible. Thanks
  3. At the risk of sounding like a idiot, exactly what is a 2011? I haven't been on this forum in ages, and don't buy gun magazines nowadays.
  4. Thanks for the replies. I don't care for his idea of cocking the hammer either, but I told him I'd find out if its at least safe to do so.
  5. My friend has a Sig 938 and he's wondering if it's safe to carry the gun with a round in the chamber, and the hammer lowered. His thought is to cock the hammer and be ready for action.
  6. My friend is looking for a quality holster for the small of the back. His gun is a Sig 938 (smallish 1911 clone in 9mm). He's right handed if that helps. thanks
  7. Looking for a percussion revolver forum (if there is one). I'm looking to buy a few guns and want to educate myself before I buy anything. Thanks Mike
  8. George, how much is that suit going to cost if you don't mind my asking? I don't know if I'll ever really get my bike onto the track, but I'll need a suit if I do decide to try it. There is a new track being built about 15 mile from my house (Millville NJ) so I hope to get regular use out of a suit if I do buy one. Thanks
  9. Congrats on the new/old hobby. That's a sweet looking bike you've got, she looks fast just sitting there. I've been wanting to try out my bike on the track (just a track day), I'm no racer, I'll be 42 in 2 days, and I've only put 7000 miles on my sport bike, a 2003 SV650 (naked, no fairing). The SV650 is supposed to have a very good frame, (I won't pretend I could tell the difference) while the stock suspension sucked (even I noticed that). I had a shop set up the suspension for me, and after the suspension work, there is a major difference in the way the bike handles the twisty roads. It's so much fun to climb on that bike. I'm envious of your upcoming track time, have a blast.
  10. I live in southern NJ, last year I went to a beer fest in Atlantic City, it was really cool. If you do get a chance, make sure you go to the beer fest, you'll have a good time. When you go, check out the local breweries you have in the triangle area, they will probably have something you like. Also, check out some stuff from out of the area, some of the brewers from California and Pa have some really good stuff.
  11. I was wondering if the powder or primer could have caused the corrosion?
  12. The only problem with micro brews is that it seems like it's hard to find it in a lot of rural areas. Maybe you can find some in Durham or Raleigh? Maybe in an area with a lot of tourists?
  13. I wasn't really into polishing my brass much back when I loaded that stuff. It's pretty tarnished, maybe 6-8 loadings without a polishing. I do polish my brass now.
  14. I found a couple of corroded rounds in one of my ammo boxes (plastic boxes). The rounds are .44 Mag, with hard cast lead bullets, CCI large pistol primers, Unique powder. The rounds are about 8 years old. Out of a box of about 100 rounds, 5 rounds have a white powder on them, similar to what you see on corroded battery terminals. The rounds were stored nose down, in a basement that seems relatively dry. I've recently been using powder & primers stored in the same basement with OK results (did not chrono any rounds loaded with the old powder/primers). The rounds stored in the same ammo box as the corroded rounds seemed to shoot OK (again, no chrono). I did not shoot the corroded rounds. Any ideas what happened? Should I reuse the bullets and cases? (Not that 5 bullets/cases really matters). If I should dispose of these rounds, what's the best way?
