  1. Chiappa rhino. Obviously the best revolver.
  2. Well, I called Glenn and he told me to quit being a sissy and do it myself. I bought the drills that he recommended and went to town. I took a few minutes to make sure that my drill press was running true and to set up my cross slide vise on the drill press table. I centered the existing hole up and made sure that the barrel was perpendicuar to the drill bit and went after it. I used about 4 of the number drills that were between the existing hole size and .135. I used plenty of oil and went slow. It was a breeze. I went and test fired it a few rounds and everything worked perfectly. I will tune the gas block the next time I go out, but it looks like this operation was a success. One thing that I am not particularly happy with is that it looks like the gas port hole is in the middle of one of the rifling ridges. I was told that it needed to be in the flat part if at all possible. Oh, Well, there is no changing it now. Thanks for the help and encouragement.
  3. Is that assuming one on the rifle and pistol per paper target? That count looks a lot like the count posted before that was one on each. We still don't have much of an idea if it is that or double that count (depends upon how much paper vs steel). Would it be too much to ask for some stages?
  4. Can It be done? I was recently sold para mags as STI mags and found out pretty quickly that they don't fit. The mag catch hole is a different dimension but is there any other difference? They are hard enough to come by at the moment, so If I can modify these to work in my STI's, I would rather try that. Thanks B
  5. Yes, I'm sure. It's a long story, but suffice it to say that I am sure it is too small.
  6. I need mine opened up and I have a match 3 weeks from now. Know anybody who can do it and turn it around ASAP?
  7. How about making it a little later for those with a 3 hour drive that morning? Day-um!
  8. Shooting open will change your mindset about speeds, planning, and a "good enough" sight picture. You will shoot all other divisions differently after shooting open for a little while. I like them all and shoot them all but I try and stick with one gun for a year at a time if I can. It is difficult to do with all the nice guns int safe though.
  9. The deltapoint is a good optic, but I agree with the others that you are chasing the problem down the wrong path. Have the ejector tuned or the opening opened up some more so that your casings go out instead of up. Most slide ride optics will fail at a point as well.
  10. +1 I agree, but I wish it wasn't so. Seems like the only bad publicity it got was on here from the shooters who didn't like all of the personality part of it. Seems like they cut that out this season, but it may have been too late.
  11. I walk it until I get a plan, then I try to run it if possible.
  12. Which one of the Mystery ranch packs do you use for shooting? They look very nice, but I didn't see one that looked quite like what I am after.
  13. I run 11 lb springs in my limited guns. I prefer the Dawson toolless guide rods but my gunsmith does not so they aren't in there....yet.
  14. When I had mine, I always ran Estate shells and they ran fine.
  15. It's just the sound/feel of the spring for me. I love the way it feels now. So smooth.
  16. My interaction with Shay at Akai has been well beyond what I could have ever wished for.
  17. My 6" tracker uses a standard frame. I love the looks and not having the extra weight hasn't slowed me down at all.
  18. For production, I like 147's. For open - When I started, I tried 115's and found them to be flatter, but way snappier. So much so that I didn't like them at all. When I went to my new gun, an Akai with a SV steel grip, I found that the weight of the grip and his comp tamed the recoil of the 115's down to the point that they felt lighter than the 124's had with the old gun, and still were flatter. I shot some of the new 115 loads in the OLD gun and still preferred them to the 124's. I guess my tastes and tolerance for recoil have matured since I began shooting open.
  19. $1600-$1800 about right for the whole setup?
  20. How much will you have in that rig when it's all said and done?

I think that the sight width deal is way more of a personal deal than an absolute. I changed to an .075" wide front and I can bear down and shoot a 6" group at 50 yards off hand. I understand that isn't bullseye type accuracy, but compared to what I could do with the factory (.125"?) it is amazing. I do find it much faster as well. It is easy, bro, if you shoot better with a wider sight, go get one. If you prefer narrower, learn to shoot it.
  22. 20 grains of 1680 will get it to 1900 in a 16" barrel. My new gun has an 18" barrel, so I assume it will make it with some room.
  23. Im considering it for the Fallen Brethren match in heavy optics division. Unless I am reading something wrong, they only require a .30 caliber for heavy optics. A 175gr load has surprisingly similar ballistics to a 308 load with a 150gr projectile. Lighter weight weapon, cheaper brass than 308, cool factor. Talk me out of it if you think it is a bad idea.
