I think your only looking for the combination of your load, bullet type, springs, grip, etc. that let the gun track repeatedly. Whatever works for you. From shorties to full long dust cover they all work for someone.
Skip,
i don't know if you reload or not. Shooting open isn't that much more expensive than CO. These are many used open guns on this forum that are reliable guns from reliable shooters. If your shooting jacketed or plated your ammo costs will be identical. I suggest using JHP only.
Hi Skip,
I'm 69 and slow and accurate seems to describe most of the super seniors. We really compete against ourselves so comparisons to others is not that important to me. I like shooting open much more than CO. I find quite a difference with a tuned load and a good comp in how the guns shoot. I'm sure some of the guys you shoot with would be happy to let you try their open blaster. You may find you have even more fun.
I've only had my 1050 6 months and love it. I still have a 650 and its a great machine. But the 1050 is sensational. You will need extra primer tubes!! I have left my ratchet on and will continue to. It very rarely is a hassle and I like the safety. Congratulations on your new machine. Your gonna like the way it loads.
