  1. Would like to correspond with a current employee of Sig Sauer.
  2. Another plug for West Texas Practical shooters; great matches. Roswell might still be shooting as well, although that might be a little far.
  3. I'm "that guy" when it comes to breaking wierd stuff, but that is an odd break. I say shoot it, and then shoot it some more. Statistically, the odds are zero that you have ANOTHER freakish problem with that gun, so that ironically might end up being the most reliable gun you have.
  4. A professional knows his gear. Period. He's carrying a deadly weapon on his person. Not going to list my resume but been there done that.
  5. Depends if they use the high hit factor WITH the penalty, or if they crunch as if it had been shot clean by the stage winner.
  6. Shot this one really really slow; agreed on that right array from P3. 4.4 hf; Limited M. My guess is a high of 6+/-.
  7. I have an Infinity airsoft gun. What is a good source for magazines?
  8. Limited. 14lb recoil spring. Most ammo between 165-170pf. No shok buff.
  9. Found cracks in mine yesterday. This is the newer/improved version. Cracks were on both sides, directly behind the trigger and roughly parallel to the trigger face. Round count was about 15k. Not a customer service complaint, just letting the enosverse know. Will call STI tomorrow.
  10. My wife is claiming that it is acceptable to do this. Her co-workers disagree. I humbly submit my wife to the judgement of the Enosverse.

Well the 230 grain case bullets pf at 257, so I will petition for my alphas to count as 8 points, charlies as 5 pts.

    Glock 20

Recently bought a used G20. It came with several hundred rounds of DoubleTap ammo; it's loaded to about 220pf. Any issues with shooting this ammo through a Glock?
  13. Back on topic.......... The day Wally is calling out other people for hygiene is a strange day indeed. Pot meet kettle.
  14. Nope. He made it by practicing his butt off.
  15. I ran a weekly indoor match for about a year. 4 pretty ok stages, 20-30 shooters. PASA Park? Nope. Me with a pen and calculator? Yup. Scores out that night? Yup. As someone previously posted, the match isn't done until the scores are up. Sometimes it seems that there is some passive-aggressiveness when it takes more than 24-48 hours to get scores up.
  16. In this case the hard cover was a steel plate. No doubt about an edge hit in this case. Alan made the right call
  17. Agreed with most everything said here. However, there is a "mind your own business" clause in some things. My experience has been that every scoring thing that goes your way will at some point be negated by one that goes against you. I ask for an overlay or a second look at a hit about twice a year for the past 14 years; about half of them go my way, half don't. There needs to be some perspective kept on this stuff.
  18. I respect that some folks see it primarily as a social event. Their social event, however, should not intrude on other peoples' Shooting Match That They Trained For, Drove To, and Paid For. I have shushed people, and as RO have shushed people. It's not a library, but neither is it a convention for people to talk as loud as humanly possible.
  19. I hate driving home from a club match and trying to get lunch along I-95. Wendy's-Slow on a good day. The line went out the door. McDonald's-Normally pretty fast. Nope, some sort of hillbilly convention in town. Subway-First person in line wants to dispute the cost of the $5 foot longs (oddly enough, it was $5 each). Second person wants to order 6(!) sandwiches. Gets stuck on "What type of bread do you want?" Diet Coke and a $10 bag of beef jerky for me. Driving and eating. Good times.
  20. Guys with "background" are a dime a dozen. It's always been the case, and it's even worse now. 80 bazillion guys with DD214s with a combat arms background. There are so many variables to becoming an actual, no kiddin', make-a-living at it Firearms Instructor that it's analagous to saying "I want to be an astronaut." Most of us did many many other things before becoming an actual Instructor. Like an earlier poster said, use your GI Bill for a legitimate degree. Get involved with action shooting; there is a whole skillset that most military guys are missing, and you'll pick it up if you get into USPSA/IDPA. Many shooting facilities expect some type of law enforcement background; I'm not saying that's fair or right........it just is. Get your degree, maybe get into law enforcement, take some classes, shoot some rounds, learn what you know, learn what you don't know, and meet some people in the industry. None of the above is what you want to hear, and please don't take it personally.
  21. There were a couple of Area 1 matches I shot where you worked half a day; either RO-ing or tape monkey or chrono helper. One in Marysville in 2000-ish and the other in...............Bend, maybe?
  22. Andy I wonder if anything would change if that scope were on the very back of the slide; all the way to the rear. Maybe it's a focal distance thing?
  23. It's up to the club; locally clubs will let you shoot it once for match score, and then again in a different division for classifier purposes. Never heard of anyone shooting 3 divisions, but no reason to not allow it. From a performance perspective, it might not be the best thing to do.
  24. Yes. Might get an argument from some folks asking whether you are testing shooting ability or ability to pull yourself with a rope. Chair and zipline would have to be pretty stable for safety reasons.
