  1. Looking at a Sig Max 1911. It comes with a fairly wide techwell-ish looking magwell on it. Anybody happen to know if that magwell will fit the box? I actually have a box from back in my SO days but don't want to buy the gun to find out I have to take the magwell off and replace it.
  2. @togmaster that day will come............... but hopefully not soon. @bjb it's sounding like mensiscus lite surgery is what's on the table. Will find out more on Tuesday from the doc.
  3. Amazing news. Thank you. Do you use any type of brace when shooting?
  4. I've only been doing this since 2000. Shot club matches in A1, A2, A6, and A8. There's been an underlying anti-cop spin everywhere I've been. "Who do they think they are" combined with "wow they really suck at shooting." People are quick to deny the bias, but I've seen it too often. I was a cop when I started and was still a cop when I made GM. The following 20-ish years were as a non-cop. I'd be $5 that this thread would have gone a different route had the initial post not mentioned the cop part. If you're a ACAB type of guy keep it moving. Not germane to the topic at hand.
  5. Would have been interesting for this thread to start WITHOUT mentioning that the shooter was a cop.
  6. Anybody still shooting USPSA after meniscus surgery? Not sure exactly what surgery I'll get (the big one or the smaller one) but am concerned about coming back to the sport.
  7. Agreed with most. I might quibble a little bit about Open dying off; some people want major scoring, and some people have disposable income the spend on damascus steel firing pins and titanium recoil springs and custom bespoke handmade guiderods.
  8. I'd like to hear from the "Yup" crew and here the reasoning behind their vote. Not in a hateful/chop busting way just curious.
  9. "...things definitely need to change somewhere." Absolute agreement from me on that. I'm skeptical that making it harder to get ROs is the best place to save money.
  10. Mike I deliberately kept it generic. Didn't want it to get way down in the weeds and get the thread locked. Broad strokes is what I was looking for.
  11. I read in the early 2000s an interview or article with Jerry Barnhart. He was asked if he could have an optic OR a comp on an Open gun (not both) which would he rather have. Anybody remember which he said was more important? Independant of the question above, which would you pick? Comp OR optic?
  12. Agreed with pretty much everything above. Struck me as such a horrendous suggestion it made my brain hurt. The "meat" of the idea was that ROs wouldn't get their hotel paid for on the day they shot the match...since on that day there were competitors. Such a horrible idea. There's a lot of vitriol and angst right now.
  13. There are lot of different places to discuss USPSA things. Some of them are a more deliberative and stately place. Some are much less regulated and sensible. One suggestion, posted at a different place, suggested that to save money USPSA should cut back on compensation for ROs who work majors. I find this to be amazingly awful, but maybe I'm wrong. Mods if my poll sucks, or my post sucks, or I suck feel free to close this. Ain't looking for trouble around here.
  14. Yessir. Will fiddle some more with it; maybe I didn't back it out all the say/enough
  15. Slide ride. Old school here.
  16. Gun has been mine for about 15k rounds. No problem zeroing at all. Eventually had some trouble with tumbling bullets. Reaming only involved the barrel. Went to zero today with the above posted results.
  17. Got the comp reamed. Tried three different bullet lots; all were tumbling before reaming. Now, after reaming, bullets are making nice clean holes, but groups are quite high. 8 inches high might have been a little charitable.
  18. Re zeroing an open gun. @25yds group is 8 inches high. Cannot adjust elevation any lower. Help
  19. One of the main reasons I come here is to see Moto refer to people as "poofs." Legit makes me laugh out loud. People seem to get very anti-major for some reason. "I only want what I want." LO should provide an option for shooting major. Choices. Action:reaction. Pro/con. If minor in LO is "the way" then surely the match results will support that.
  20. I've passively followed this tomfoolery but not been super emotionally invested in it. It appears that there are two extreme camps on these issues. There do indeed appear to be Howler Monkeys doing what Howler Monkeys do. But, they do raise some interesting points. I'm not an expert on anything let alone on corporate governance, but there certainly do appear to be some....non-optimal....behaviors that have gone on with the org. I'd love to know The Truth. The no-kiddin' no spin truth.
  21. Not trying to get this closed so mods I can modify or delete as needed. Does the hive mind here think that any real/potential growth of PCSL is a factor in any BoD thinking or decision making process?
  22. I wonder what BoD members do for day jobs. Not being snarky, but to sit through 5 hours of this AND go to work the next day might be non-optimal. Some seem much sharper mentally/verbally than others.
  23. Didn't want to start a new thread as my question was similar-ish.
  24. Going to make a horrible hideous suggestion here. Why can't I use a rotary grinding tool on the comp. This tool (which has nothing in common with a dremel) would be adequate to make the hole in the comp bigger...hence solving the problem...? Prepared to be wrong.
  25. I "get" Roberts Rules but holy cow that just seems to slow things down and result in basic sentences taking double or triple the length needed to spit it out. McDonalds Cashier: The cashier recognizes the customer Me: Point of order I want a burger fries and a drink Cashier: Is there a second on the motion? My vision is that people sometimes are polite on the outside but on the inside......hoo boy.
