  1. stick with 115 gr bullets & fast powder …. try a 3 stage buffer from Taccom… .& ditch the carbine spring... install a .308 spring...
  2. I shoot "PLATED" bullets... in my Taccom 5.25" shrouded barrel ….. no build up what so ever in 10,000 rounds thus far..
  3. I use Everglades plated bullets.... have shot over 10,000 thus far... no build up on the shroud what so ever.. no problems with Everglades plated … I asked Tim at Taccom about plated bullets when I bought my Taccom ULW barrel he said.. I should have no problems ...
  4. a little off the subject.. but... I have a shorty Open gun... the blast shield use to get blackened a lot when I shot & hard to clean … I now use some aluminum foil tape used to tape insulation on air conditioning ducts... I stick the tape to the front of the blast shield then trim it with a razor knife... when it gets really blackened.. I peel off the old tape and install some new tape..
  5. I built a ULW Taccom with the 5.25" barrel .. use a Biitz 5005 buffer & a Springco white carbine spring.. with 124 gr plated bullets & Sports Pistol powder.... very soft shooting..
  6. I bought a STI DVC when they were first announced... I did have a problem initially .. it was ramped too much which caused the brass to bulge... sent it back... got it back within 5 weeks... NO PROBLEMS WHAT SO EVER SINCE.. as in everything... some problems will arise... STI's lifetime warranty is hard to beat... I own 3 STI open pistols.. love everyone of them.. I sincerely hope STI solves their tainted reputation..
  7. the Wiland barrel has peaked my interest... anyone care to share some load info using 115gr & 124gr bullets ?? tia
  8. I noticed that the Wiland barrel is not ramped according to the pictures... as is the Taccom 5.5" ULW barrel... is ramping a problem solver/advantage ? tia
  9. I switched to Sports Pistol powder for my Taccom 9mm PCC with a 5.25" barrel using 124gr bullet & 3.8 grs of S.P. .. according to my chrono the PF is 129.. .. I find it meters extremely well.. and burns cleaner than a few powders I previously used.. price is very reasonable ..
  10. I beg to differ... I can press one of my loaded cartridges that has NOT been crimped on its nose and can shorten the AOL.. once crimped.. it does not ..
  11. I shoot 124 gr plated bullets in my PCC... I have pulled quiet a few with good success... I do not crimp a bunch... just enough for the nose down press without any change in OAL..
  12. I went to the 90 degree mount with Cmore as you did.. then tried the RTS2... because it was unreliable (kept cutting on/off) sent it back to Cmore… when it came back.. it did the same thing.... got rid of it & went back to the 90 degree mount & Cmore set up ..
  13. I bought a STI DVC Open 9mm Pistol 3 years ago... did have a jam problem at first... changed the scope mount to a horizontal scope mount... cured the problem.. now it runs 100% .. my go to load is 6.6gr Auto Comp using 124gr Precision Delta bullets... STI DVC are priced competitively .. and their 100% lifetime warranty is valid..
  14. NO COMP NEEDED ON PCC … here is my latest build using a Taccom ULW 5.25" barrel complete upper with a carbon fiber handguard.... timer picks shot report every time.. NO MUZZLE RISE & VERY soft shooting.... pic below
  15. Anyone have a tip on EverGlades bullets promo code ? … I need to order some 124gr plated 9mm bullets .. tia
  16. My STI DVC has breech erosion.. I use Winchester SPP … round count is approx. 30,000 ..
  17. does the custom pistol come with a steel grip ? I have a STI O … if you shop around there are deals on them... ..
  18. Have you tried RN bullets instead of hollow points ??
  19. I use a wooden handscrew clamp .. lay the handscrew on a piece of plywood with a hole drilled in the plywood to allow the roll pin to drop into.. … you can buy the clamp at Home Depot or Lowes..... wooden jaws on the clamp won't hurt the finish on the bolt....
  20. affordable is relative .. there is a lot of disparity in the price of guns... you should decide what you are willing to spend … then decide if you want "bragging rights" or a pistol that will compete in the division you want to shoot … a 2011 platform will surely enable you to compete in open.. STI 2011 pistols are very visible at all the matches I attend.. check around with different vendors... prices vary considerably … a couple of recommendations I may offer... when spending the price of these pistols.. shoot one to see if it fits your shooting style & its prudent to buy from a vendor that will service it.. open guns are definitely finicky …
  21. Eric.... what do you use for a mag spring with a Taccom set up ?
