  1. I am a huge fan of the xdm 5.25 I have a 9mm that I built my self and a custom canyon Creek .40... the 9mm got a prp ultimate trigger kit, pistol gear mag well , solid guide rod , 16# recoil spring, striker and spring, and I stippled the grip. One advantage of doing the work yourself is that it is cheaper and you will learn how your completely strip work on and clean your gun. There are many YouTube videos to learn and do the work. That being said my .40 built by rich is AWSOME!! Don't know anything about the prp built gun but know that both my xdms run great even after many thousands of rounds.
  2. I run a fiber front on an xdm 5.25 9mm and .40 9mm load is 124gr bayou with 3.2g titegroup .40 major 180gr bayou with 4.6g n320 no issues at all ( no more than plated bullets) and Definatly no issues with front fiber sight. possibly unique powder.
  3. I started with a lee fcd with bayou bullet and had accuracy issues. Did some research here and found that a lot of people had the same issue and was solved by ditching the fcd and going to taper crimp. Problem solved
  4. I use titegroup for a steel and 3gun load with 124gr bayou with no issues at all. My teammates use it too with 180gr .40 major load still no issues with smoke.
  5. Welcome back!! Thank you for your service!
  6. Welcome to the forums! Plenty of great info here !
  7. When I first started shooting competitively I bought glocks, spingfields, and a couple 1911's. I would shoot 1911 and xdm at steel challenge matches glocks and xdms in uspsa and idpa. Then started shooting 3gun using the xdm's. I shot pretty decent at most matches but changing platforms all the time I think was keeping me from being able to improve as a competitive shooter. I had a grand master shooter at our local club tell me PICK A GUN practice with it and stick with it. So I kept my xdm 5.25 9mm for steel and 3gun and bought a xdm 5.25 in .40 for uspsa limited division because the xdm platform fit me the best. I would have loved to stayed with the 1911 but could not afford a 2011 .40 for uspsa. I can honestly say it has made me a better shooter sticking with the same platform in multiple shooting sports. I still plink here and there with other guns but when practicing training or competition it's all xdm for me.

  9. Welcome from circleville !!
  10. Can you suggest powder? 4.7g n320 bayou 180gr flat nose for major load out of my 5.25.
  11. I load them at 1.160 with 3.2gr of titegroup for steel load out of a xdm 5.25 with no issues at all! Great bullet choice!
  12. I don't think you will have any accuracy issues at all with titegroup. And should be a less charge to make minor.
  13. I run a steel and 3gun load with titegroup and 124gr bayou rn at 1.160 in my xdm 5.25 it is just shy of making minor at 3.2g at around 1000fps.
  14. I run titegroup with 124gr rn bayou bullet at 3.2g for a steel and 3gun load no more smoke than with a fmj bullet
  15. well I guess really most rules say (completely empty gun). In that case, the gun is not empty. Hard call. I say no DQ. I agree no DQ but minimum should be a penalty.
  16. Empty chamber or cleared ?? I believe it stated cleared or on safe. That is Definatly not clear
  17. The pistol was grounded with out the safety engaged. No matter what condition the pistol is in it is still not placed on safe when grounded. Penalty would depend on what club or match you were at.
  18. My opinion not a safely grounded pistol. Not a stage or match dq but a 20-30 sec penalty.
  19. I had a very similar thing happen in a 3gun match with an ar. The shooter wanted to ground the rifle in a barrel and finish the pistol part of the stage. I called to stop and clear the rifle. He had an empty case stuck with the next round partially chambered. The shooter was very upset that I stopped him but in my opinion he was not grounding a safe rifle. He took it to the MD and was granted a re shoot.
  20. I run 3.2g of titegroup with a 124 round nose bayou bullet. Accuracy is great and load is very soft with a 14# spring in an xdm 5.25
  21. Xdm 5.25 by far. I run a .40 for uspsa limited and a 9mm for steel and multigun. Tons of availible aftermarket parts to customize it how ever you like it!! Runs great and have never had any issues with either!
  22. I use a 550 for .40 and 9mm so no primer changes and an olé 450 for .223
  23. Switchview carries some for bushnell but not for the ar series that I can see. Will have to check MGM eagle eye. Thanks for the info
