  1. Hello Jeff, welcome to the forums.
  2. Welcome to the forums! Lots of wisdom and info here on reloading.
  3. you would want a fire extinguisher with at least an A & B rating. This the a is for wood fires and the B is for chemical and gasoline types. If you found an A B C the C is for electrical fires. Same question for me. I'm stopping by Lowe's on the way home to get one. Glad the damaged wasn't any worse than it was.
  4. I have never owned or used a SD but own a 550. I started with it and load 9mm, .40, and .45 acp. I was brand new to reloading 2 years ago when I bought my 550. I did the same as you asked around to see what one of the 2 I should buy being on a budget wanted to same as much as possible. I chose the 550 for 2 reasons. One it does not auto index, I wanted to index manually so that I would pay more attention to the powder throw on every round and force me to pay more attention. Second was because of the dies. From what I understand the SD has certain dies you have to buy. With the 550 you have a much bigger selection of dies to choose from. Either way and dillon press is well worth the money and you will be happy. Good luck and enjoy reloading..
  5. Welcome from circleville ohio. !!
  6. yeah I have only been loading for a couple years and mostly loaded 9mm and some .45 the lee fcd came with a set that I had traded for and knew something felt a little different when I ran them threw my press so after reading forums here learned about the difference and switched to taper die.
  7. Well shot first 3gun match last year and lugged all the stuff around and it was a pain in the butt. I told the guy I shoot with that I was not going to do that again and I was going to build a cart for next year. He gave me a little grief and said I better not. So when I finished this he was the first one I sent a picture to. Already had the cart from having kids so found mounts on amazon with free shipping 40.00
  8. Well after gathering info i settled in on 4.2 n320 at 1.140 Did not chrono yet but shot 7, 10, and 25yrds 7 yards awsome tight group 10 yards opened up to about 4" 25 yards all over the place Read a couple threads on crimp and the use of a lee factory crimp die and it seemed most people did not like for their .40 major loads have changed out to a dillon taper die loaded some up same 4.2 and oal. Been to cold to test. Will post results
  9. Thanks, I think I found the website. I work a lot of Saturdays and that was typically my conflict I always seemed to be working that Saturday. Going to plan my work days around the Circleville matches this year.Do you guys post your stages on line before the match anywhere? My local club posts them like the week of the match but I never could find where or if you guys posted them. Thanks I am really not sure if the stages are posted in advance or not. I will check and get back with you.
  10. Welcome to the forum's and thank you for your service!!
  11. Welcome Darren!! I think you will find a lot of info here to help in reloading and competitive shooting..
  12. Welcome from Ohio ... good luck at your first 3gun match and have fun!!
  13. Yes the factory trigger in the xdm 5.25 is better out of the box
  14. Ok thanks for the info. I will be going out this week to try with mod and ic to see which one is more accurate with the slugs I run.
  15. Xdm by a landslide for me. I have a XDM 5.25 in 9 and .40 love them both. Easy to modify and more options than the xd. Less felt recoil and better grips.
  16. So can you use any choke with rifled slugs?? Guess my question is its not going to damage the barrel to run a slug down with a full choke??
  17. I am newb to 3gun. I have asked around and get many different answers to this question. Not sure if it matters but I run a 26" versamax. Also should only rifled slugs be used for smooth bore barrel?
  18. Welcome!! For match schedule at Circleville go to pcsirange.com it will have all the matches we run for the year posted very soon if not already.
  19. Welcome to the shooting sports!! It can be very addicting:-) you will find a lot of good information here. Welcome to the forum's.
  20. I have the sportsman 26" and it will shoot up to a 3 1/2" mag. Pretty sure the tactical will not so they may be different sizes.
