  1. VERSAMAX! Have been running mine in 3gun for 2 years now with ZERO issues. I use cheap walmart 7-1/2 shot bird shot and low recoil slugs and have never had a single failure. Ran it bone stock with a mag extention last year then sent it out to have load port work, lifter welded, and the barrel throated for easier loading.
  2. 4.6 n320 180gr bayou at 1.135 makes major out of my xdm 5.25
  3. Genco-inc.com ... great dummy rounds clearly marked as dummy. Have been practicing quad and dual loading and still holding up great. I think it was $30 for a 25 pack
  4. no I just leave it in because I separate my .223 brass And just decap 5.56 with lee universal
  5. I had the same issue with 5.56 brass. Fixed with a universal lee de capping die. I run through a single stage just to de prime then tumble resize on progressive then trim and de burr lastly loadem up
  6. I run a xdm 5.25 with a 124gr bayou bullet that only chrono at 980fps so just under making minor pf. I load it at 1.160 with 3.2g of titegroup. Never have had an issue with small or large poppers or knockdown steel.
  7. First welcome to the forums and thank you for your service!! As for your g35 and making the jump to limited. Magwell extended mag base Plates solid guide rod you are set. In my opinion the slide cuts are really just for looks. The large slide cut you have now on the top has already taken some weight off the slide, anymore will lighten the slide but not sure you will notice a bunch of difference to justify the cost but. I would invest that money into a dillon progressive press to start loading your own ammo. Load your mags full and have fun
  8. I load bayou 124gr round nose with 3.2g titegroup group at 1.160 out of a xdm 5.25 chrono at about 980fps. It is a steel and 3gun load very soft of recoil and no smoke
  9. Most USPSA local club matches will be 125-160 rounds. I do not shoot IDPA regularly but have shot a hand full and generally have been 50-80 rounds per match. A compact 1911 in 9mm is good for IDPA just not sure what division it would put you in. I'm sure a regular IDPA shooter will chime in.
  10. I tried FCD with bayou 180gr. Bullet with no luck at all. Rounds would not group well at all. Changed to dillon taper crimp with the same oal and powder charge 4.6 of n320 and problem solved !
  11. +1 on the dillon progressive. Square deal B good for pistol loading only and dies are specific to that press only. The 550b is a great press that allows you to have many more options on dies and will load rifle if you want to. iPhone and Android has free app timers that work great for dry fire and par times but not so good at live fire.
  12. Sure let me get a couple and will post later today
  13. Great I will give that a shot. Thanks
  14. I am currently using the L.E. Wilson case length headspace gauge. Is this the same as the one you are talking about?
  15. My AR is a 5.56 barrel. So maybe a little different than the bolt gun that is .223. As far as crimp I do not have a separate crimp die just a seat/crimp die. the sizing die is full case. What I did relized early on was I was not trimming cases when I fist started reloading .223 I was told for just hoser 3gun rounds it was not necessary to trim. After loading 200 and trying to run them thru my AR relized that if the case was to long when it went to powder die the necks were getting crunched down and bulging there for would not chamber all the way and get jammed in the chamber. So I do trim now. I think what you might be seeing on the very tip of the case is just a shiny spot from de burring the outside of the case mouth.
  16. Ok so here s my current .223 load and info. Cases get trimmed to 1.750 and oal is 2.250 All loaded rounds get checked with case gauge. 55gr everglade version 2 bullets
  17. Ok let me start by saying I am very new to bolt action rifles. I have just purchased a Remington 700 SPS tactical in .223 Just started reloading .223 for my AR last winter. I am loading in this order. Resize, deprime trim de-burr inside out cleaning primer pockets Then loading on a rl450 So here's the issue I am having, reloads run great in my AR. But in the bolt gun some not all don't chamber very smooth. Some very difficult to get bolt to lock down and some after shot the bolt is difficult to open to eject. When I work the action with no round it's very smooth. So am I doing something wrong with reloads? Is the chamber tolerance tighter in a bolt compared to an AR? Just looking for some advice and wisdom. Thanks
