  1. I like what I'm seeing. At least Springfield is trying to keep up with the innovations of the other striker fired guns hitting the market. https://www.springfield-armory.com/xdm-elite-features/
  2. Interesting. The amount of LCI barrels sent back for replacement with non-LCI barrels must have been significant?
  3. I was the one JHicks8h did the transfer for. One of the first SS's Mark ever built. A 9mm. I'm no 1911 expert but i own several custom, semi custom and production 1911's (several Canyon Creek Custom, Ross Carter Custom, Calhoun Custom, Ford Custom, Springfield Custom TGO, Wilson Combat, Ed Brown, Les Baer, Dan Wesson, etc). So i at least can recognize a really good 1911. And the Carne Custom i bought is on par with any of my custom and semi custom SS's with trigger and function. As one of his first guns i was expecting to be underwhelmed. But it's outstanding. If i was looking to build a custom 2011 there is no question i'd go to Mark.
  4. I get what you are saying (I think), as the gun of choice is always personal preference. But, it seems that if you don't have experience with either gun, the prudent thing to do would be to ask the opinions of those that do have experience with either one or both? Then see if you can get some trigger time with both with your preferred match loads and make a decision based on all available information.
  5. Yeah, my complete upper (first barrel replacement they said send in just complete upper) came back in that exact same box, then the barrel (second barrel replacement they said just send in the barrel) from my second X5 Legion was also returned in that big Sig box. Nice box, but I thought that sure is a lot of box for just a pistol barrel.
  6. I agree. Any metallurgy experts out there? If so and you tell me it's not a big deal to have coating on the barrel, I'll just keep it and shoot it. I just don't want the barrel to start pitting or rusting.
  7. I requested to have the LCI barrels on my two Sig P320 X5 Legions swapped out for non-LCI barrels. One my first request, Sig CS said to just send in the complete upper. On the right is the replacement barrel the first time I sent in my complete upper to Sig to replace the P320 X5 Legion barrel with a LCI for one without an LCI. Barrel looks great, has a coating on the barrel. For my second P320 X5 Legion Sig CS said just send in only the barrel. So that's what I did. I just got the non-LCI barrel today, which is the barrel on the left. Just got it delivered to my office FEDEX. It's straight out of the box. It's completely wiped down, no oil or residue on it. It appears as if it is still in the white, just bare carbon steel? Don't get me wrong, I'm going to shoot the heck out of both X5 Legions, but If it's supposed to have a coating on it to preserve it's longevity I'd like to have it. Anyone else that has had their LCI barrel swapped out for a non-LCI barrel also get a barrel in this condition? I thought i'd check to see if maybe that's just how the barrels are on the latest X5 Legion barrels before I contact Sig CS? If this is how the latest barrels come out I'll just shoot it. I'm not concerned about looks, just don't want it rusting or wearing prematurely.
  8. I've tried several factory 40 loads in my CZ TSO and found the lowest power factor was Freedom Munitions RNFP 180 gr. Chrono'ed it at around 173 on average. I've never tried the Federal Syntech.
  9. I have never met Kita, haven't read her book, and haven't taken a class with her, but geez, I'm amazed at some of the crappy comments coming from people that have never taken her class or read her book. I've seen some of her shooting videos. And she isn't "terrible." She isn't an elite shooter, but she is a solid shooter. She was married to the best shooter in the U.S., so you know she isn't terrible. This class would probably be great for many beginning shooters or people that weren't in sports growing up and never learned proper footwork or hand/eye coordination, and even for some of us that did grow up in sports we could still probably pick up a thing or two. She's just like the rest of us, just trying to support her family and make a living.
  10. As I noted above when I sent in one of my X5 Legions to have the LCI barrel swapped for the non-LCI barrel, Sig said to just send in the upper, not the entire gun. They turn around time was very fast. I'm now also sending in my other X5 Legion to have that barrel swapped for the non-LCI. This time they are saying just to send in the barrel only. Here is the email I received from Sig asking if I could send in my second Legion to also have the LCI barrel swapped for the non-LCI: "Thank you for contacting Sig Sauer. This time we just need your barrel only. Please package up your barrel and use the attached Fedex shipping label to send it in. Upon receipt we will swap out the barrel for the NON-LCI for you as a courtesy." And I'm ok with that. I've bought drop in barrels from Sig in the past for my P226's and the guns grouped just as well as with the original barrel. I would expect the same with a drop in barrel for my P320 X5 Legion.
  11. I just got my X5 Legion upper delivered to me. Looks great. I sent the upper to Sig on Nov 4th and got it back today with the non-LCI barrel. 10 day turn around time. That is outstanding. That is great customer service.
  12. After running a couple of mags through my X5 Legion when I first took it to the range to sight in my red dot, the glass was clouded up pretty good from the gas seeping through the LCI. If I wasn't shooting CO it wouldn't be a big deal. Other than that I love everything about the X5 Legion. But, great customer service by Sig to replace the barrel at no cost and to even pay for shipping.
  13. Nope. This is what they emailed to me (copied and pasted exactly what they emailed), " Please pack up the SLIDE, BARREL, AND RECOIL ASSEMBLY together in a case or box and secure it inside another shipping package. Remove all other items from the case. Please include a note indicating which firearm the slide belongs to. "
  14. I've got two Sig X5 Legions. Sent the complete upper to one of them back to Sig to replace the LCI with a non LCI barrel. Once it gets back I'll send in the upper for my other one. Sig sent me a shipping label to send in the upper to have the barrel replaced. So far the entire process has been great customer service.
  15. The trigger on my brand new P320 X5 Legion was so good right out of the box I doubted the GGI trigger system could improve on it. But, I bought one anyway with the curved trigger. It was easy to install while watching a Youtube video for guidance. The GGI trigger system is a definite improvement. It takes a very good trigger and makes it great. After install my trigger pull was consistently just under 3# with a shorter pretravel and reset. I would assume the trigger will continue to get better after I get a couple thousand rounds through the Legion. I've been using the CZ Shadow 2 in CO for the last few years, but I like this set up so much I've made the move.

    Legion accuracy

Does anyone have a link to the instructions for sending back the Legion for a barrel without the LCI? I can't seem to find any info on it even after I Google it? Thanks.
  17. I've got a Dawson Precision stainless STI Edge from when they used to sell a completely worked over model, and a Brazos stainless STI Edge. Both great guns. But both sitting in the safe. For Limited i'm using the TSO .40. I've been shooting a Shadow 2 in PRD and CO the last few years, so the TSO just felt "right" to me. It's completely stock.

    Legion accuracy

I just bought a Sig Legion X5 and installed a tungsten guide rod. I currently use a couple CZ Shadow 2's in CO and Production. Both have CGW bushing. Not very scientific, but at 20 yards on a USPSA target the headshot groups of Legion X5 were identical to the S2 groups. Putting one shot next to the other shot after shot using Magtech 115 grain 9mm. I got lazy a few years ago and quit reloading as i was finding cheap factory 9mm. I also ran some Remington 115 grain and Blazer Brass 115 grain through the Legion X5 with the same results. So i'm guessing it really likes the 115 grain. I was fully expecting to be underwhelmed by the Legion X5. But i was very impressed overall with it; groupings, trigger, weight, felt recoil.
  19. I think the PRP trigger in the XDm is the best do it yourself trigger in a striker fired gun. I have 4 XDm's with a self installed PRP trigger. I had a Sig P320 and a P320 X5, both with GGI trigger. And while the GGI trigger definitely improved the Sig stock trigger, it didn't match up to the PRP trigger on the XDm. I know have a Sig P320 X5 Legion, with a stock trigger. And it's a nice improvement but it still doesn't measure up to the PRP on the XDm.
  20. Does anyone know if Sig is planning on releasing a Max X5 model? I'm definitely interested in the Legion X5, but if Sig is going to be coming out with a Max X5 in the next year or so I may just wait as I'm in no hurry. I thought I read that somewhere but now I can't find it? It would be nice to have a Legion X5 with a multiple red dot plate system.
  21. I've noticed the significant rise of CO competitors in my area (Central IL) over the last year and the drop of PCC. Last year PCC seemed to be really popular, but now I've noticed at the local matches I've shot this summer, PCC has really fallen off. PCC has had 1 competitor on the low end to 6 on the high end, with an average turnout of 74 total shooters in the four local matches from this summer I reviewed. I realize this is not anything close to being scientific. Just a general observation. Limited has definitely been the most popular (which was expected), followed closely by CO, with PRD and OPEN trading back and forth for third and 4th place. SS and PCC are a distant 5th and 6th, with REV barely registering (which was expected). At first it seemed as if competitors were really embracing PCC and sort of cool to CO, but that has really shifted, with CO taking off and PCC falling off. SS has had a low turnout for a few years and REV has just the occasional competitor at our local matches. At least this is what I notice in my area. Just wondering if anyone else is seeing the rise of CO and the fall of PCC in their area local matches?
  22. I used to have a CZ Phantom. Used to being the key words. Didn't think it would be too bad to completely disassemble and reassemble to put in a lighter spring package. I've got an SP01 Tactical, a couple Accu Shadows, a couple Shadow 2's. Shouldn't be any more difficult than the SP01 Tactical, right? Holy crap, I was never more frustrated trying to reassemble a gun than I was with that damn Phantom! It doesn't help that I have big hands and I was constantly fumbling up the small springs on the sear cage. And like the OP said, I kept locking up the hammer on reassembly before I figured out what I was doing wrong.
  23. I have a Desert Eagle .44 mag marked XIX. So it's one of the newer models. I don't have a lot of rounds through it, but i've never had an issue with reliability.
