  1. 30-40 fps second is about right but you really need to chrono the load. Too many variables to guess.
  2. When I shot my ssr 686 I used Jet Loaders and they worked great. Have fun good luck!
  3. They are a harder than others i.e. federal, winchester, cci. They will function fine in most guns providing that it has stock fire controls. For example when I changed out some of the trigger parts on my g34 to lighten the trigger I had to go with the softer skin primers. Since then never an issue. If using stock parts you should have no problems. Good luck!

    Lube for X5

try Cudalube from www.shootingsportsinnovations.com I use it on all my guns and have never had a stoppage. Cant beat this lube for any guns. Great product!
  5. I have flown many times with firearms and have never been weighed all different airlines. I am actually not sure myself what the weight of my ammo was lol!
  6. That is funny right there.. LOL! Thanks for the laugh this morning.
  7. +1 up until recently I only shot Glocks and have never had an issue. Regular maintenance will reduce most of the issues you might have. Spare springs and misc parts might not be a bad idea. So far my STI Edge hasnt let me down either. Like someone else stated there is usually always a spare gun around but never needed it.
  8. Shoot in CDP as you are probably very comfortable with this gun already. Most of all have fun and see you sights. Hits are more critical than time when you are first starting. Once you are getting good hits speed it up. Practice your reloads and reloads with retention. Good Luck!
  9. +1 and any good kydex holster and mag pouch will do. Bladetech is popular
  10. Only shot one a few times at the proam last year but thats how most of the shooters shot it. Started on either the top or the bottom and then switched. If you are fast enough the rack hardly moves. Check out the proam vids of blake and bob vogel last year pretty cool stuff.
  11. Lawn and leaf bags works or find a janitorial supply that sells clear (thin) bulk bags.
  12. +1 they are fun once you get the hang of it. You might burn a little ammo the first few but you will get it. Find that front sight! Good luck!
  13. Awesome! Way to go Papale! I admire your courage to get out there and get it done. Great shooting!
  14. I agree. Not sure by your description if the intent was to have you shoot through the barrel to get you hits or if parts of the target was exposed. Dont like shooting thru barrels as you never know if it will make it through or if it would deflect.
  15. oh ok . well maybe ill just do two targets in a stage . didnt plan on covering all targets. unlike the bags on rainy days . thx spelling Don't put them on the targets like you do yourself. Staple them at the shoulders so the scoring and taping is done by lifting the t shirts. +1 can be a pain but I like the realism and it makes it much easier to score. Not that anything in USPSA is defense like but then again I shoot IDPA as well.
  16. Some buddy. Pat LOL that is funny there.. I think the head arms and legs is good advise or if you are letting it come to you start with the arm, leg etc and it will come right around.
  17. LOVE that target. Have never seen one in action but great concept!
  18. I think its interesting for the reasons that you note. Those that index and shoot may think differently but you have to find those sights or be prepared to pay the consequences. For giggles how did that stage go for the complainers?
  19. I should have posted this as well. I am planning on shooting my XDm 5.25 in 9mm. Already have the rig and mags. it seems to be able to load even the factory mags to capacity and still shoot reloaded 9's is a no brainer. I'm sure at some point I'll be building an open pistol but not at this time. Shoot the XDM as you are comfortable. In USPSA speed is just as important as getting your hits and you will likely do that better overall with a gun that you know. Secondly you will put yourself at a disadvantage shooting 9mm (minor) in the limited class. Its like apples and oranges over the course of a long match with the point differences unless you are very fast and shot clean. Have fun. You will figure out if its for you or not.
  20. You have a good idea from your comments on what to expect. Try and pair up with an experienced shooter as they can usually help explain any of the quirky rules that may come up. Be safe and shoot straight (and accurate LOL!).
