  1. I use WST in my 45 and 38 mid loads and its worked out pretty well for me this far. I also use a lighter bullet than most of the people that have posted, 135 gr RN from bayou, at 130 PF from my 327 its been really nice just a little kick and excellent accuracy. I haven't had any issues with the granules building up in either load but I put 4.0-4.2 gr depending on season. I have been really happy with it especially since it doesn't leave those little black flakes on my arms like bullseye. I'd like to switch over to n310 bit 50$ a pound and availability kind of stopped that
  2. I've seen a couple of threads about a 9mm 627 coming around possibly, but aside from speculation I have yet to see anything from a reputable s&w source put out stating this is in the works. It would be awesome, I was actually going to convert my 327 but if this happens I'll hold off.
  3. I believe under the rule change the power factor for SSR went to 105, that's what I've heard anyhow. If they'd back off ESR I'd be happy because launching 230 gr at 740 fps to avoid any close chrono calls is a little rough out of a 4" barrel.
  4. Go moly coated you'll love em and cost wise it makes it worthwhile to switch over completely, not just for indoor. I switched everything except my race gun over to moly coated from Bayou bullets, couldn't be happier and I was able to use the same load data after switching over and they leave the barrel a lot cleaner than the bare lead I was using previously. Also bayou has a ton of different styles for 38/357 so you can really dial in what you want
  5. Boo 3" boo, such a tease. I'm just waiting til there's another jm pro series added to the line up hopefully in 38 super. S&w will hopefully capitalize on the increase in 627/327 interest and put out another 8 shot, maybe 38 super? I can dream.
  6. This is perfect, I bought a 625 to shoot idpa (only way I can handle restrictive nature of it) and steel with, then immediately realized how fun revolvers are and found a 327 to keep it company and now this. Guess I'm shooting twice at local matches when they allow it.
  7. And, if you're worried about a 625 languishing in the safe, I'd be more than happy to taker her out for a spin for you. Trust me plenty of good use would be made of it. Haha
  8. Good god man! 280 PF, I wouldn't have thought a 625 would be conducive to such pressures or are we talking something a little meatier than standard 45 acp
  9. If you go for any of the scandium models you'll probably be looking at 900-1000 used and 1150 range for new
  10. All I can say about that is it takes someone great with traditional to beat someone decent with load two on average. And a great plan executed well usually wins also. Had to do a little pat k. reference there
  11. You would think that with the versatility and accessibility of Internet stores that sales reps would be upping their game for customer services rather than keeping the same old, if you want the it you'll just have to deal with me. On a separate note, how do these grips hold up to the rigors of an open gun, I read the aluminum grips are a no-no for open guns because they get battered so quickly. Thanks
  12. 2 is possible 4 is rough to pull off. It's pretty tough to get it to work without doing any loading port work. I had issued with the transition between the port and mag tube there's a hump that will get it the way of a smooth and fast load. I found that slow and smooth was the only way to get consistent loading. If you don't want to do any loading port work it is going to be more difficult to match a lot of other shotguns for loading speed. You'd be better off with another shotgun or getting creative with the dremel. This is one of the reasons I went to a versamax and the carbon arms extension is sweet and I'm a gear whore. But to sum up load 2 is ok quads are not worth it.
  13. I use 4.4 gr of WST loaded to 1.1" and I get right under 1100 fps avg out of my m&p pro
  14. I think that experiment would be great especially if you get all the bullets for the different weights from the same manufacturer and hopefully the materials from the same lots to make it as consistent as possible across the weight range. Bayou makes 9mm and 38 special bullets from 105 up to 160gr. I may have to get some sample packs from him to do a little experimenting since I'm already placing an order.
  15. I'd say the fact that this is getting so much attention is great, lots of people chiming in as to how they feel about it. I know most people that will be into this are existing shooters but this may help me get others involved since I have been bitten by the revo bug. This now gives me a chance to get my father into shooting since he's never liked semi autos, so there's possibly one new to the sport right there. I'm going to start him off with steel challenge and possibly get him to move into some uspsa or idpa at some point.
  16. Ya, I snagged that pic from the site. I was just curious is anyone had actually gotten to fiddle with one
  17. Saw it while poking around on the web figured I'd ask around, I haven't been able to find much in the few googles I've thrown out nor much regarding the company other than what seems like a fluff review of this scope.
  18. I stong hand load 2, feels more secure and requires less eyes on required while moving. The four in hand (non quad) never felt rich to me especially weak hand. Did better stroke hand but the gun had a tendency to jostle about when I was trying to giddy up.
  19. Huh, 2 in a weekend sounds like it might be a good idea to hold off on getting one of those especially with my apprehension toward dump barrels.
  20. On a separate note, the comment about the joint club/sport fun match sounded like a cool idea. I think that would be fun to mash up a few sports into a fun range day and possibly get some crossovers and even new shooters in the process. Looks like I've got a project for next summer.
  21. I'm hearing IDPA open style after oct 1? Count me in! I get the feeling the older gents at the indoor range aren't going to be too thrilled about this. Lol, I see a lot of being the last shooter from now on.
  22. Midway USA order of 2500 .223 bullets UPS: 67 bucks USPS: 21!!! Over 40 dollars difference, plus it takes an additional week or two for ups to get to Alaska with their sure post deal. So if I have the option I will always choose USPS. They are faster, cheaper more convenient and all of my Montana gold bullets make it to me in roughly a week from order to pick up (I use a PO box) they complain a little at the counter but as long as I let them know its going to be heavy they are usually cool about it. Plus, they tend to be friendlier than the delivery drivers from fed ex and ups especially when dealing with 70 pounds of awesome.
  23. I use 9mm for all other stations and I don't even have to adjust the seater and crimp dies since they are the micrometer type so I just back out the separate adjustment meter (I have all the separate 9mm and 38 supercomp settings written down) rather than haveing to into the lock ring and fiddle with it that way and the lee FCD I just back out the top adjustment until it just touches the loaded round and then give it another half-2/3 turn and its money. I don't use another flare die but that's just to save set up time since I have a spare. I also am using a hornady LNL so switching a single die station is much simpler than a dillon. I can usually go from one caliber to another without even needing a test round (I verify all measurements are correct before cranking away) just switch out, hit it with the calipers and away I go.
  24. Well, took the 327 out and tested some plinking loads with .356" plated bullets and was able to keep all 8 in the small A box at 10ish yards so I'd say that's a thumbs up on shooting 9mm without re-barreling for now. Especially since I'll more than likely be shooting .356" moly coated lead and I already know my other 9mm loves those. Now to pick where to get it re-chambered.
