ELS 34 fork holes don't line up on Blade tech holster
DocHolliday1 replied to lucas's topic in Multi-gun Gear & Accessories
Yes, a tek-lok fits great, and that is how I have my QLS receiver plate mounted. -
I've only shot about 25 rounds of the "new batch" and didn't seem to notice any difference. I also shot it quite a bit before it disappeared and was glad to find it again a few months ago. But it's only 25 rounds, and this was through my old limited rifle which was a standard 16" 1/9 twist (have a new rifle and not shooting steel cases in my new one). I have heard reports of bad batches with bad/hard primers even with the older stuff.

I don't have a long range background, so bear with me, but I was a little unsure of how to use the width of the hashes when looking through a friend's Vortex. Most BDC reticles have wider hashes for the longer hashes to maintain a constant wind hold. Not so with Vortex. So... looking at the subtensions, it seems the smaller hashes for the farther distances seem to be a standard width for the intended distance. 300 yard hash: 2.865 MOA * 1.047 inches per MOA * 3 (for 300 yards) = 8.99 inches 400 yard hash: 2.15 MOA * 1.047 inches per MOA * 4 (for 400 yards) = 9.00 inches 500 yard hash: 1.7 MOA * 1.047 inches per MOA * 5 (for 500 yards) = 8.90 inches 600 yard hash: 1.435 MOA * 1.047 inches per MOA * 6 (for 600 yards) = 9.01 inches So, it seems that each hash is exactly 9 inches at it's intended distance. So this may be helpful in holding the center of the target if you are shooting at an 8 or 10 inch plate. Is this the intention of the JM-1 reticle? Is this useful for 3-gun the way I am thinking? Did I even calculate this correctly? Thanks for the help.

The ULTIMATE 3-Gun Upgrade

Lanny's book AND the Elixir Especial.... Look out!! -
I've never shot open, but is there a downside to putting a comp on a minor load? I understand how a hotter load will increase the advantage of a comp vs no comp, but even if a comp on a minor load only produced a marginal benefit, why not do it if you are running a dot anyway?

Looks like it's this one. I don't know whether or not it fits the box though.

is a Gen 3 still a better gun if you plan on building it up?
DocHolliday1 replied to jriggs's topic in Glock
Shot a Gen3 17 RTF for quite a while, but using Gen 4 34 now in 3 Gun. Love the Gen 4 w/o a backstrap. Can't go wrong w Gen4 if you've got the Jager guide rod. -
ELS 34 fork holes don't line up on Blade tech holster
DocHolliday1 replied to lucas's topic in Multi-gun Gear & Accessories
I mounted my QLS receiver plate to a tek-lok which goes on my ELS belt. I much prefer this to being directly attached to the belt. All the holes line up, and this way I can slide the holster forward or back just a little to make sure it's in the right spot. -
Yep, more ammo!! Only difference on mine is a jager striker vs your Zev, and I have grip tape.

Just read the thread you linked, and I don't see any mention of ordering a 34 with RTF2 frame. I tried to do just that in 2010; no dice. There has also been some confusion when looking at catalog listings, etc, because the regular Gen 3 frames were RTF (compared to Gen 2) and have been referred to as RTF. The Gen 4 frames are also referred to as RTF. The RTF2 frame (made rougher than origninal gen 3 frame, hence RTF2) is the only one that was really rough enough to be referred to as RTF by most people.

The 62gr Tula HPs shoot great out of my rifle, much better than 55s. I did break an extractor (on the last stage of a match of course), but my rifle was really dirty, over 500 steel cased rounds without cleaning. That was at about 2500 rounds total, at least 1500 were steel. Not bad all things considered.

You may already know, but don't forget a little food and drinks. 3 gun takes longer than pistol matches, I was starving at my first one.

I prefer a non drop holster for 3 gun, with a drop it bounces too much when running for me. I shoot more 3 gun now, so I just ended up using the same holster for USPSA and my DOH just sits. For retention, the WRS is the way to go. I don't have one, but a lot of guys have gone to them. With the WRS, you can disengage the retention strap if you have a pistol start on a stage. I don't think the other thumb button holsters allow you to do that.

Those Blazers will be snappy no matter what set-up you have. I have the Wolff guide rod and springs in a Gen3 17, and like it. But I've got a Jager Rod (not extended) in a Gen4 34 with a 13 lb spring. I like the Jager rod alot with 13 lb spring, but I don't shoot Blazers in that. Either way, what you mentioned should work well with most any load, but if you really want to reduce recoil, try to find some lighter loads or loads with heavier bullets. I did have some 124gr Blazers a couple years ago that seemed to feel smoother that 115s.

Who makes that SBR conversion? Looks nice!

Glock Small Frame Gen3 vs Gen4 Magazine/Slide Release - Grip Shift ; R
DocHolliday1 replied to SPDGG's topic in Glock
I like my Gen4 34 better than my Gen3 17, so I say go for it. Keep in mind that even though the release is larger, the extended OEM part for Gen 4 doesn't stick out as far as the extended Gen 3 release. That doesn't matter to me since I'm running the Gen 4 with no backstrap. -
Jager is the only one to consider for Gen 4. I have the polymer one, and it runs great with 13 lb. I should switch to SS, but just haven't felt the need. I do have a Dawson SS uncaptured in a Gen 3 and like it a lot as well. You won't go wrong with Jager in a Gen 4. Not sure about this "bushing" wording with the new rule changes, but I don't see why they would make mine (Jager polymer Gen 4), which was legal before the new rules in SSP,and make it illegal. Then again, who knows.

Updated my tapatalk as well. Mine will work fine to browse the forum through tapatalk as long as I am not logged in. Once I log in with username/password, it doesn't work. I can remove the forum, re-add it, and then browse again just fine without logging in.
