Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. This match is by USPSA rules, and long guns can not be slung. Stages are available at www.arsectionuspsa.com. There are still plenty of slots open, and no late fees. Bruce
  2. Greetings to All, from Bruce Bethell, Old Fort Gun Club in Fort Smith. Sorry about the delay in getting things started a little more on this post about the Arkansas Section Multi Gun Championship. Registration is being done through www.matchsignup.org. To respond to an earlier question, when they ask you for PIN number, make up one for yourself, and remember the number. Payments are through Pay Pal. Once you sign up, you will get some response, and more information, from David Hyden, our MD. This is a USPSA Level 2 match, so membership in USPSA is required. We have submitted 10 stages to USPSA NROI for approval, and expect to get that very soon. Great mix of guns on each stage. Preliminary round count is going to take about 100 rounds for each gun, including some shotgun slugs. I'll post stages and information here once it is finalized. I think you will find the stages to be interesting and challenging, for beginners and GMs alike. Match hotel will again be the Candlewood Suites in Fort Smith, located at 7501 Madison Avenue, Fort Smith. A nice property, close to the Range. They are gun friendly, so walk through the loby carrying your long gun cases without concern. Call the hotel direct at (479) 424-3801 and ask for the Gun Club Preferred Rate to get special pricing for all rooms. For the few of us who are still interested, they have smoking rooms, a little unusual these days. We are doing something a little different this year at the Arkansas Section matches. There will not be a formal prize table. At registration, each shooter will receive a bag of gifts, all bags will be the same. HOA in each division will receive a cash award, and plaques will be given using the 3-5-7 system. Your gift bag will have a retail value pretty close to the entry fee. We did this last week and the Section Handgun Match, and everyone seemed pleased. Also cuts down a lot on the activities on Sunday, so folks can get out of town and back home before it gets too late. Scoring will be on PractiScore, so results will be available very promptly. I realize time is short, but this is again going to be a great match. More details are on the Arkansas Section web site at www.arsectionuspsa.com. Get your entries in soon, squad with your favorite shooting friends, and come have a great match. Bruce
  3. Stages 1 through 8 are basically next to each other. Stage 9 is around the corner, also pretty easy walking. Stage 10 is maybe a little further aways, but not too far. Maybe a couple hundred yards. Easy walking distance, but you could use a car to move between stages 9 and 10, if you want. Our Range is flat, grass, and easy walking. Bruce
  4. Sign in at the Range. Friday afternoon, or early Saturday morning. Bruce
  5. RANGE TO TARGET: Rifle will have a few flash targets, with 10" plates, at 100 yards out to 300 yards. Four slug targets, 10" or larger steel plate flashers, at 50 to maybe 60 yards. Slots are still available. Squadding is open at USPSA self squadding for folks who have entered. I realize time is a little short. If you want, email your entry form to me at brucebethell@sbcglobal.net and pay when you get here. Late fee is waived. Bruce
  6. Tell Joshua to bring his wife. We'll sing Happy Birthday, maybe even get her a cake. I shot a match on my 35th Wedding Anniversary. Had everybody at the match sign an IPSC Target with "Best Wishes -- Happy Anniversary, Suzanne!" My wife said it was the best anniversary card she had ever received. Look forward to seeing you at the match. Bruce
  7. Yes, I know things have been a little slow on the uptake on this match. As you may know, our local crew finished USPSA Area 4 here at OFGC early in September, and that took a lot of time. Stages have been submitted for approval, which is required before squadding can start. Unfortunately, the USPSA Nationals came shortly after Area 4, and the folks in charge of approving stages got wrapped up with Nationals. Those are over, and we expect approval within a few days. We will notify everyone as soon as squadding is open. In the meantime, I am attaching PRELIMINARY stages. Please understand that these may look different when they get approved and on the ground, but at least this will give you a start. Round count looks like: Handgun, 94; Rifle, 100; Birdshot (Number 7 1/2 or smaller, please), 72; and slugs, 4. Slots are still available. Entry form is attached, so get you can get in the game. Late fee will be waived for entries received by October 14. If you have not made motel reservations, try the Candlewood Suites. Call the direct number at (479) 424-3800, ask for the "Gun Club Rate" to get some special rates. An alternative is The LaQuinta, also close to the range, and a little cheaper. Call them direct at (479) 484-0303. Ask for the company rate under the name "OFGC" for their special deal. Both of these properties are 'gun friendly' and you should not receive any static about carrying guns, ammo, etc. into the property. If you are coming to the match by air, let me know if you want to ship ammo direct to me, rather than try to carry it on a plane. brucebethell@sbcglobal.net I will get you shipping information. Prize table looks good. There will be at least two Springfield Armory XDm's, 5.25 competition packages, by random draw among all shooters. We are getting cranked up for this match, and hope to see you here in a few weeks. Bruce (479) 785-4558 (daytime number) Entry form 2014 MG Section match.pdf Ar Section MG stages preliminary.pdf
  8. I'm scheduled for all day Friday. Heaven forbid I actually shoot well, but if I do, can I designate someone to walk the prize table for me? You are welcome to designate someone to walk the prize table for you. Just give them some type of note saying they are walking for you. The prize table is looking real good. I always start at the bottom of the C Class Production looking for my scores, and it looks like I might even get some pretty good stuff from the table. Bruce Bethell
  9. Second match hotel has been arranged. The Candlewood is pretty much full. We have made a deal with the LaQuinta Inn, which is also pretty close to the Range. Listed address is 6700 Boston Street. Actually located just off Rogers Avenue, behind the Outback Steakhouse. The General Manager, Krish Patel, joined our Gun Club this month, and wanted to help promote shooting sports, so they are gun friendly. Krish has established a company account under the name 'OFGC' (Old Fort Gun Club) and is offering a rate of $65.00 + tax for either a single or double. You will need to call the local hotel directly to get this special rate, as it is not established on line yet. Phone number is (479) 484-0303, book reservations under the company name "OFGC." Stages are posted on www.area4championship.com Map to the River Range, as well as other information, is also located there. Bruce Bethell
  10. Area 4 match is getting closer by the day. Hope everyone is making plans. Troy says stages will be out in a few days. AMMO SHIPMENTS: If you are flying in for the match, I know what a hassle it is to carry 300+- rounds on an airline. If you would like to ship your ammo in advance, we will be pleased to accommodate you. Ship the ammo to Bruce Bethell, 1309 South 41st Street, Fort Smith, AR 72903, phone number (479) 785-4558. This is Bruce’s office address, so deliveries will need to be weekdays during office hours. Put your name on the outside of the shipping container. We will send you an email confirmation that we have received your ammo. Give us your arrival date, and your ammo will be at the Range. One note -- the office will be closed the week of July 14 to 18, so ship after those dates. Bruce

  12. Bruce Bethell, with Old Fort Gun Club, in Fort Smith, AR, Troy is MD, and I am the local "Gopher' for the match. Our crew is looking forward to hosting another Area 4 match. I'm working on some details, including local hotels. Got one, Candlewood Suites, and I'll post information soon. More to follow. Stages are in the process of being finalized and approved. This will be another great match. Put it on the list on 'don't miss' events. If you have any questions on local issues, please feel free to email me at brucebethell@sbcglobal.net. Bruce Bethell

This is going to be a great USPSA Multi Gun match. You don’t want to miss this event. Prize table is looking great. We all know about the current market problems, and no guns will be available. Lots of information, including stages, entry forms, match hotel discounts, and other good stuff is on this forum.
