Excuse my ignorance, but how do you tune a choke tube? Thanks. Bill finds a pattern board. 2 tall sticks and a roll of butcher paper. my s/clays club had all that. 1. slugs: get the most accurate i/c, u have. shoot slug.see the pattern. grind with course wheel ,move pattern to where u want it. shouldnt take much. slugs go ito 4-5"at 50 yds. i.e. if hits at 9:00, grind right to move right. etc etc. keep shooting/grinding till it hits where u want. 2. vertical string: grind the piss out of the top and bottom of a full l/f or tighter. maybe get a tool guy to do it. the 1st time after that took it to a guy. if it is a tight area i shoot low. all Remington shoot 60 hi/30 low as thye were all trap guns originally. stock fit was 50% of the equation. leather shims work good. shimmed stock to shoot 50/50. bead on the center of the kill zone. spot on. the load i shoot at long target is a 1 oz. also.cant get "hot" 7/8 in u.s.a would a killer on tight targets with this choke. wont shoot reloads. hope this helps. ask i am around jjw

i tried skeat board tape. mooosed off after every 3 gun went to a tennis shop bought the grip wrap for racket handles.. my ugly ass 1100 (beat to shit anyway. 12 yrs shooting 3 gun) will be the only 1100 with yellow grip tape in the shoot. works and stays on for yrs good luck jjw

i use the chokes that came with the gun unless i need extended choke to match the tube. remember the guy that built the choke alkso built the gun. so who knows better. i am from houston and knew jess briley well,buy them wholes sale, and stiff dont need them. also if ur tube is longer than the barrel(mine is) i put rubber crutch tip on it with rubber cement, saves the tube when u have to dump it in a barrel. i will be the guy with the white ctutch tipn on an 1100 at r/castle this year.(unless i find black to fit.) i have been shooting 3 gun,18 yrs now started out law stuff at ft bragg area. u haul ur stuff all day. no resupply also a a.a. s/clays shooter. (love hanging with the rover-rolex crowd). s/clays, carry about 12 chokes an 2 custom. 3 gun never carried more than 3 1st set for rock castle, outlaw stuff all over go to set if in doubt what i am getting into. 1. i.c. also for slugs tuned 1 to shoot better. 2. mod 3.l.f. tuned to string the shot verticle so i can kill steel regardless of what size. 2nd set close in stuff local clubs around me. 1. sk 2. l/m 3. i/m 1 or the other will shoot anything i can see. never used the l/f until last year at r/c at 06:30 f-----g a.m. in the morning. i had some 65 yds looked like. i also carry 3 shells i shoot victory form Greece cause i have about 30 cs when i quit shooting,clays. 7.5's will break a clay at 75 yds crossing in s/c i carry: few 9's lots of 8's lots of "smokin"7.5's guys were hittng these with skeet loads and bouncing off. if abyone saw a blue hull u had never seen before that was me. the velocity is faster on the box as they measure form the bbl end. hope this helps. jjw

u may have a bad batch i am not a spring changer but it happens all my guns 100% with whats in them. factory or wolf it depends on my needs. i have arrendo's in 1.glocks 7yrs now same springs 2. Springfield 2 yrs 3. smith 3 yrs or close all same 1's i put in when i set the gun up call arrendo they are great. never sent anything back but they take anything back and make it right, i know. ask for the air soft guy,(dont know his name) great c/s. and yes i pay for my stuff just like everyone else good luck jjw

He ported the damn thing. no 1 knew in 15 yrs later,it would be illegal. 8. been shooting too heavy a load. am changing to light loads. 9 Remington is fine just not good on slugs with new "legal bbl" i shoot a lot of outlaw 3 gun at ft Bragg and around military shoots. slugs are a fact of life. benelli sooo much better slug gun. the benelli Jeff cramlit set up for me is awesome. GREAT THANKS TO EVERY ONE. took it all in. got several good ideas. nice to get a lot of support. to do list lighter loads. old sporting clays shooter hae 40-50 cases of europe loads some may be quite good. have some ideas. recoil pad sorbothane suck it up L.O.L. been doing since i got blown up at work, 3 yrs ago. thanks to all again and best to all. jjw

i have a old m-1 from the 80's great gun. ghost loads shoots anything including skeet loads. flip up sights, slugs into 3-4 " at 50. all win. recoil is BRUTAL on my back (rods and screws all the way from top to bottom). i was injured and starting 3 gun again after a medical lay off. have a Remington 1100 chip McCormick did for me 1990 or so when i started 3 gun. love it shoot it well. its not a benelli. in my mind benelli's rule dont ask about mossberg. nastiest recoiling shotgun i ever shot. mossberg rep live 200 yds from me. can shoot at steel in my back yard all day if i want to. question ?? i want to shoot the benelli how do i tame the f-----g recoil. after 25-30 shots in 2-3 hrs i am toast. comes the flinch. anticipating recoil. all kinds of bad. tried recoil reducer in friends benelli, (jeff cramlit- at rock castle) can someone help 1. sell the damn gun and all the chokes and bbls (3)? 2. give up and shoot the Remington ? 3. try a p.a.s.t. pad. ? hot and miserable 4. what else ? please help if u have an idea tks jjw (b.l. all i can speak to is chokes been doing this 15 yrs or so also a.a. class s/clay shooter till injury forced me out chokes 1. i.c. (clays and slugs 2. l.m. every thing else. 3. i.m. 60 yd shots with heavy shot. PATTERN THE GUN absolutely never saw a need for any more constriction 1-1/4 #4's federal 1-3/4 #9's Remington (cause i cant find 1-1/4 #9's anymore. i may have nor been clear. i use mec gar 18 rd mags almost exclusively with arrendond's 6 rd extension. has worked for years on all 3: glocks m+&p Springfield every 1 of the big parts shops say arredondo's dont work with "their" mag well. need to use t/f i dont WANT t/f i can buy them wholesale and still dont want them. what is the failing part of the equation please????. sticking wont seat wont lock back etc etc. i just want a big ass mag well to shoot 3 gun. will live just fine but would be smoother if i had 11. thanks again help is appreciated. jjw

i cant find a mag well that will work with arredondo. info has come from this board not ACTUAL hands on, that says nothing seems to be compatible. i am not going to taylor. question: can some one tell me why that doesnt work ??. i.e. what sticks jams locks up etc. i have a master colt trained armorer on the pay roll is also a master tool and die guy. he can fix anyhtng. what does he do to fix this please. i use arredondo on all my guns and carry them in the field. i do not have mag wells on any work guns. would like to shoot 3 gun with my Springfield's. have 2 custom 1's from the Springfield shop. i have arredondo's on 20 or so pistols, all work 100%. no mag wells. what do i need to do to put a quality mag well on a s/fld and use arredondo's am i just pissing up a rope and need to move on. thanks much if any 1 can help with this. jjw

You must be using something different than the MecGar plus 2 extender. I am getting +3 (for a total of 20 rounds) in 9mm. Mec-Gar does make an extended mag, if you still haves BHP, http://www.mec-gar.com/Magazines/Browning/MGBRHP20 I am still hoping to find someone who has SUCCESSFULLY used a Mec-Gar or Pearce mag extension (I know Arrendondos don't fit) with the SSS ESP Magwell. http://shop.taylorfreelance.com/shopping/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=4&products_id=41 i know about the mec gar 20's i used them in outlaw 3 gun for years. there was a rd extenesion i found that worked 100%. still carry them but with 13's only for carry weapon. only been carrying them for 40 yrs or so. mec gars 18 rd will work with an Arrendo 6 rd. (didnt know about the 2 rd till now). for a Springfield but u have to do a little work on the mag release slot to get mec gars to drop free regardless of the extension. i use a cheap mag well from brownels. wanted to run them at rock castle but had a sight problem with the installed sights on both my Springfield's which are custom guns by srfld custom to big time instructors who gave them both to me. could not get the Bowie's sights from David fast enough to get installed. shot the smiths just fine i have never had 1 failure with either Springfield or the smiths, with mec gar's. carry them as my road guns which never come out of the truck when i am gone or working hope this helps. long and windy just use mec gars exclusively and am a dealer so have good re pore with the factory. thanks for the help. jjw p.s. there are several aftermarket mods. Dawson is 1st to mind. he did my 1911 i use to carry before i had to got o a palomar gun. several others surefire used to make 1 dont know if they do but installed the slide DOES not lock back. suref's answer was u should never shoot to slide lock. (dumb b-----d's) no 1 there ever carried a gun in Kali. i think 1 of the Israeli companies makes 1. Dawson's goes in a unmodified holster. been using them on my m&p for about 3 yrs now. very satisfied never had even 1 malfunction. i get 23 Rd's in the mag. i have 6 of them i use in 3-gun. carry them in my work load out. but dont carry but 4 mags on the kit i use. hard to find a pouch in molle for the length. f.y.i also use them 100%in my Springfield Xd-9 18+3 in mec gar mags. used them on glock when i shot glocks, a lot. dont shoot them much any more tho i kept 3 for shtf. they never break. i have a close friend who's like my "little brother" in life. swat sniper in the n.ohio area. i let him carry them in his work gun. i would NEVER LET HIM event think of carrying anything that would get him hurt. wish they made them for bhp's carried 1 or 2 for over 25 years. cant get other +2 but not very reliable. not arrendo's hope this helps. ask i am around some jjw

i do not want to start a pissing contest BUT why should a shooter doing a correct movement as best he can, be penalized for a mechanical malfunction. if a car catches fire no 1 is held to blame for it. its mechanical. not sure this is going to be well received but we have so many nit picky riles now no1 can remember them all. more importantly no 1 can craft a rule to cover every scenario. r.o's for 99.999% of the match i have shot, (only been shooting 3 gun 15 or so years) are very smart people and see a lot more f/ups'' than any individual shooter ever witness's.. let them mnake the call on knowledge and common sense. a good r.o., and most of the are, should make the call on common sense. NOT the way 10 people interpret the rules 10 ways. with none being all right or all wrong. if its broke and in a safe direction how can u blame the shooter??? not meant to offend just my thoughts which tie into "toooo many picky little rules." What the video on the Bobro didn't show was the tedious ring screw installation. Tightening the screws down for the rings while not disturbing the scope and having clearance to do so around the receiver is a PITA. I have never tried Bobro thanks for the warning. I have tried ADM and its ok but prefer Larue. Larue mounts simple work and that is why so many people use them from competition shooters, to the military to LEO's. Pat #1 why would anyone take the sight off. #2 i am using my work gear with some mods. shoot for the fun of it. everything i OWN is an o.t.d. piece of gear not a game gun. #3 being work gear i NEVER EVER take the sights off. #4 match shooters are probably different but military is 4 m.o.s. not 1 moa never take off either. i know that for a fact. taught 1163 govt and military shooters in last 13 months. when they show up we ask among other things,"had ur sight off lately ??". less than 1/2% ever raies their hand. i use Larue have never found them lacking. dont know stangeway or Alaska Po but read A/Po's posts and 99.9%, are tactically correct. would want him behind me in a dark alley. the other guy not so much. the other guy seems to be a hard on gamer. no i dont know Larue. yes i am a TEXAN. yes i want to get home from each job so i use the best. 2 different concepts. 2 different mind sets. f.y.i any 1 who takes anything/ granted off a gun board is brain dead. per T.D.L. know as Ken Hackathorn. jjw

i have stated before i see no advantage to extended chokes except to even the bbl and tube length. since being a 3-gunner and a a.a. sporting clays shooter for over 15 yrs, i have tried them all p.o.i. i never bent a bbl but took a battery powered drill to the pattern board and ground down a choke to get the pattern i wanted. shoot a Remington so all Rem's shoot 60-hi/40-low as they were trap company 1st. took a mod choke and ground .020 off the top and bottom to STRING the shot on poppers vertically. works well. clays same way. string shot pattern works as most birds in 3 gun are flying straight out. (i.e. rock castle, shot from right behind the thrower). hope this helps. has always worked for me shoot 2 loads 3-3/4Dr-1-3/4 oz of 9's as Jeff cramlit says. "a big black cloud" going down range. green 3-1/4Dr-1-3/4 oz of 4/6's doesn't seem to matter much which. red 3 chokes + rifle choke. j.i.c. i.c. mod (tuned) l.f. use all 3 at r/c good luck jjw

funny u should bring up c-products mags. i was a large dealer for them (10,000 ar mags a year). when they were active they gave me 4 samples at shot. in my mind i said no way. most reliable really hi caps i have ever seen. just used 2 at rock castle 3-4 times. have used them for over 1-2 years or so. NEVER had a jam or failure to feed. didn't do anything. BIG NOTE i am also a full line sure dealer. bought 200 surefire mags when i saw them at shot. cancelled all orders after 1st 50 arrived. just a heads up. not fooling with anything so finicky. as Alaska p-- said if u cant drop them or have to nurse them i wont own them. in our goody bag at r/c was a magpul. bought the Nordic extension thingy. gonna give that a try when i get time. nuff said jjw With the nordic pmag extension just make sure you smooth the internal transition between the two bodies. Mine would hang up until I filed it to a smooth transition. No problems since in the last two years. tks guy the heavy set guy with the Mohawk strip told me about that. i got him to show me 1 as my gun friends think there should be a 7 day waiting period for me to use a dremel. 1 of my best friends is a regional glock trainer. when i ask him he always say WAIT I WILL BE HOME SOON l.o.l. this may help Jeff cramlit (for those who dont know him) is 1 of the best 3/gun & shotgun shooters in the world. he actually developed the flip sight thing several years ago. he put 1 on my benelli m-1 that was a ruger 10/22 and front sight form i dont know. it's on a vent rib 21" bbl. probably sell it as i cant take the hit of 2 days in a 3 gun. when i have to shoot slugs this is the best set up i ever saw. he milled out a slot and it slides right in, the rib near the reciever. i know cause i didn't use enough loctite and had to repeat it. this thing shoots slugs into 8" for me at 100 yds but i cant take the pain with a bad back. try this, so no figuring site height, out of the brownells book i am going back to my chip McCormick 1100 he built me. hope this helps jjw
