  1. Nealio, the best solution is to get the Carbon Arms tube. It's the single best upgrade I added to my Versamax.
  2. I saw the new JP carrier today. It is definitely light, it is an aluminum carrier, which their guy said has a better treatment than their old aluminum carriers. It's supposed to be more wear resistant. They're also including a titanium firing pin, which seems like a good idea to me. It looked bad ass, and they wouldn't sell me one. The gentleman I spoke with said maybe a couple of months before it's available to the public. Pretty sure I'll be buying one.
  3. I have owned an M2 and currently own/ compete with a Versamax. The Versamax is much softer recoiling and is very easy to load when properly set up (slightly easier than the M2 in my opinion). However, the Remington is clearly not built to the same quality standards as the Benelli. Remington charges near Benelli prices for a gun that is just not up to par with what Benelli is putting out, as far as quality of machining and materials go. I have also played with a Stoeger that had the MOA package on it, and while the gun may not be as good in the fit and finish department, MOA's work is fantastic and the gun I saw ran like a champ. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the three guns mentioned. The Stoeger is the value leader, the Remington is the design leader, and the Benelli is the quality leader. Take your pick and you likely won't be disappointed.
  4. I don't know about the threads stripping, I've never experienced that problem. As far as the extension loosening, that's normal in my opinion, if you're not using a barrel clamp (I'm not). My gun has the CA tube and a Nordic +4 screwed on to that. Nothing is Loctited, and the Nordic tube does loosen up with normal use. I've never seen this as cause for concern, I just check the extension and my choke tube before every stage.
  5. Check out the Midway USA sniper drag bag. It's plenty long, has a good amount of pockets, and when I bought mine was only about $75.
  6. To get the most out of it, you'll need adjustable gas and a light buffer. I'm using the JP low mass rifle buffer, but the taccom ultra light or a carbine buffer with some weight removed would also get the job done.
  7. Yeah, I found out about this right after I bought two red label 17l's online. I had always heard they weren't available as blue label guns.
  8. The first quaload carriers I purchased had the old style clips. They were working fine, but I sent Tim an email since he's offering to replace the clips and I do much prefer the later qualoads I purchased. He was quick to respond and shipped out the new ones in no time. I have no affiliation with the company, but I have dealt with Tim a couple of times now and have nothing but great things to say about him and his customer service.
  9. The length is measured from the end of the barrel, the threaded portion doesn't count against you. As far as the diameter, I would assume it would be the largest portion of the brake, but I can't imagine someone getting bumped to open for using a brake designed to attach a suppressor to. I've also never seen an equipment inspection at a match(other than a magnet check on rifle ammo), but I'm sure some matches do them.
  10. When you pull the shells out of the carrier, they are going to get smashed together. There is nothing wrong with that, it's just how quads work. I have never used the Invictus ones, but they look great and a lot of people love them. I'm still using the TacCom carriers because it's what I bought when I got started and I can load as fast as anybody with them.
  11. I have no idea why anyone thinks a shotgun mag capacity limit is a good idea.
  12. I recommend synthetic motor oil. I use Mobil 1 10W-30, but any kind will do. It's super slick and won't break down or burn off. Just dump a bunch of it on your bcg and start blasting.
  13. Yes, you are missing something. My Versamax can be unloaded easily by turning the gun upside down and pushing hard on the shell catch (from inside the loading port) while relieving the pressure on the catch by pushing in slightly on the shells in the tube.
  14. I was thinking the same thing since Xtreme put their 9's on sale. I've been shooting BBI's, after shooting Xtremes for a while. The BBI's are more accurate in my Glock 17L, and are still a few dollars cheaper, so I will not be switching back. In a pinch, I would happily shoot either one.
  15. I recently shot a big local match that incorporated a spinner (pistol target). I showed up the first day of the match to game the stages, and watched several people turn it with no issues. The second day, when I shot the match, the spinner was noticeably dryer/ harder to spin, as it was not greased between days, and very few people turned it. I'm not saying this because I had a personal issue, I just hammered it and turned it no problem. But I still feel like the target did not present a fair stage to the average shooter. I saw people on the second day hit the target repeatedly in a manner that would have turned it on the first day, that didn't get it done on the second day. I love the spinner personally, I just think a reasonable effort should be made to make it fair for all competitors.
  16. I had a blast at this match! The Academi facility is top notch, and the stages were well designed and a lot of fun. JRiggs- great shooting, It was a pleasure meeting you.
  17. http://www.midwayusa.com/product/939171584/midwayusa-sniper-drag-bag-scoped-rifle-caseThis is what I use as well. Great bag for the money.
  18. I'll be there Saturday, but not shooting til Sunday. PM me your phone number, I can probably help you out.
  19. Is your lifter welded? This sounds a lot like the standard Benelli jam, where the shells will hang up on the right side of the chamber (extractor cutout). If this is the case, the fix is to break the sharp edge and polish with fine sandpaper. I used a dremel to slightly radius the area, then I polished it with 600 grit wet/dry sandpaper. You don't need to take much material off, just break the sharp edge.
  20. the Taran Tactical one is pretty sweet. All of his parts are very nice and well thought out.
  21. Having trouble getting more pictures to upload, but you can get an idea from this one. The thumb screw is great for quick adjustment, you can crank it down for a non pistol start and it's not going anywhere. Mine is a dropped offset for USPSA, but I'd probably go with a standard belt loop (or tech lok) for 3 gun due to better stiffness. *also available in colors other than neon green*
  22. +1 He makes all my kydex stuff, does a great job. His user name is Bigjimmy57 on here.
  23. I wouldn't recommend going quite as far forward as I did. Mine loads great, but I'm pretty sure I was on the edge of ruining my gun.
  24. Well even though I need the long range practice, I'm glad to hear that. I'm not a particularly good LR rifle shooter.
