Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. A quick search revealed the answer to my MOA question. I'll be reading up on that option.
  2. I actually hadn't thought of that. Thanks for the heads-up. For those recommending MOA, is that the one run by Tom Hart in Oregon?
  3. Thanks, guys. While I am not ruling out the Stoeger, the local shops don't really stock those, so I can't fiddle with them. However, if I find one, I will definitely check it out. I know that the dealer I intend to use has a lot of Benelli and Rem. stuff (they got me a great price on my 1100 in '08). I have read of some issues with the Remingtons, as of late (not just shotguns). This makes me lean slightly toward something like the M2. A few of the guys I shoot with use Benellis, both in competition, and at work, with no real issues. They have been testing the VMs in my department, too, but I haven't heard the outcome. M2 has also been the suggestion I have gotten the most, it seems, when I have asked elsewhere. I'll have to swing around a 26" a few times, to see what it feels like. It seems like most of the matches in my area are shorter distances, so I might not need too much range out of slugs for the time being.
  4. Hello, I am looking to get into 3Gun matches, after several years of pistol / 2Gun matches. I would most likely be entering Limited, or Tac. I have been using an 1100 for 2Gun matches, but find that it is very cumbersome to reload (although I haven't had any other issues of note). I would like to put together a nice shotgun for matches, but have been having trouble deciding what route to take. I am interested, also, in using double or quad-loads. I currently have a bit of store credit through a dealer, through which I also receive LEO-pricing. As such, I would like to buy the firearm through them, and then work from there. The two options I have considered are the Versa Max, and the Benelli M2 - both of which are available at my dealer. The question becomes, of the two types, what base features should I look for? Specifically concerning the VM, what "trim level" should I be looking for. I have read that some people like the "Competition Tactical" well enough as a starting point, but notice a lot of people still modifying them. Since I am in no hurry, I am thinking that I would be better off just getting the basic model, and having it tweaked to my liking. Also, I haven't really had much experience switching between barrel lenghts. I see that the basic VM is 26", whereas I am used to 22"/21" barrels. I know that some prefer longer sight radius, and the "swing" of longer barrels, although I don't know how much of a difference it would make with long mag extensions. I know it is highly personal, but do you suspect I would be doing a disservice to myself by looking at 24 or 26" barreled shotguns? I am sure there is more info needed here, but I can't think of anything else off of the top of my head. Thanks
