  1. He can either set up a chrono or accept that your power factor is what you say it is.
  2. On a related note, don't push it if you start feeling real sheat ymptoms. We were near the end of the match and I wasn't feeling well - headach and feeling just a bit nauseous. I thought oh I can finish and then I'll be fine once I cool off. Last stage I shot I was light headed and seeing black spots when I finished the stage (didn't pass out, but I think I was close). Cooling off was not the end of things. For the next 3 days or so I felt the worst I've ever felt.
  3. I nearly had a heat stroke at a match a few years ago. I picked up one of these and can't say enough good stuff about it. The extra pack stays in a small cooler of ice water (I use one of those folding wagons at the match). Anytime the one I'm wearing stops working, the other is charged and ready. Well worth the money. http://www.blackicecooling.com/Personal_cooling_ccx-s_features.html
  4. Any follow up? Did you get one? How does it work for USPSA?
  5. 2.3.1 Match Officials may, for any reason, modify the physical construction or stage procedure for a course of fire, provided that such changes are approved in advance by the Range Master. Any such physical changes or additions to a published course of fire should be completed before the stage begins. 2.3.1.1 In lieu of modifying course design or physical construction, a Range Master may explicitly forbid certain competitor actions in order to maintain safety during a course of fire. The forbidden action is a way of maintaining safety if an issue arises after shooting begins. If you see something that will be a safety problem before shooting arises, the solution isn't a forbidden action, the solution is modifying the stage. Once shooting has begun, modifying the stage brings up issues of competitive equity hence the need for such a thing as forbidden actions.
  6. Castle Anthrax? And after the procedurals on to the... I would expect to see some shrubberies Start position: Holding the holy hand grenade of antioch in your strong hand
  7. I didn't either. Any details on how you pulled it off Mully?
  8. No way I can make this match, but I can't wait to see the Monty Python themed stages - either diagrams or photos/videos.
  9. I don't see how 10.2.4 applies. There was no mandatory reload for the shooter to fail to do so you can't invoke the penalty from 10.2.4. You might be able to cite 10.2.2 and give per shot A competitor who fails to comply with a procedure specified in the written stage briefing will incur one procedural penalty for each occurrence. However, if a competitor has gained a significant advantage during non-compliance, the competitor may be assessed one procedural penalty for each shot fired, instead of a single penalty (e.g. firing multiple shots contrary to the required position or stance). I agree with a previous post - you should make this decision ahead of time and let competitors know if there will be a per shot penalty for reloading from the belt.
  10. That was intended to be left as an option. In my mind, I thought it would make shooters decide between taking a longer shot across the square, or going around to not risk hitting a no shoot, though I'm not sure it's a long enough shot to force that decision. Not sure if having that option risks making a 360 trap as well. My thinking was limited shooters would probably stop in the middle, whereas production shooters would decide to take the opposite sides, reload and take the steel from the middle, or shoot side targets on one side, opposite steel, then reloading while going across for other side paper and remaining steel.
  11. From the 2014 rules changes document on the USPSA website (link below): Re-states that forbidden action is used for safety issues, and spells out the penalty for committing a Forbidden Action after one has been declared. Note that a competitor must commit a specific act for a Forbidden Action to be declared; it may not be declared prior to anyone actually shooting the stage. http://www.uspsa.org/document_library/rules/2014/2014%20Rules%20Changes.pdf
  12. Thanks. Running stock parts other than the apex competition kit. Didn't change the striker spring (don't want to be picky about primers) or the striker block (yet, need to get tools to take the rear sight off).
  13. As near as I can estimate I've got around 3k rounds through my 9mm M&P. What spare parts should I be keeping on hand or replacing preventatively?
  14. If I drop the rock do I have to have an RO pick it up to avoid being DQ'd?Silly rabbit...of course you do. Duh!And if the Rock is too big for the division you face a bump to open or shoot for no score! lol If my math is right, you only have to throw a rock that weighs about the same as a baseball 52 miles per hour to make major power factor.
  15. I've never considered being a gamer to be a negative thing when playing a game.
  16. The early episodes of the power factor show have a lot of great info for beginners and helped me know what to expect when I started. https://www.youtube.com/user/powerfactorshow
  17. Different situation, but the first column on page 7 has info that relates to forbidden actions. http://www.uspsa.org/frontsight_archive/a/2013-07.pdf
  18. Something like this came up in the discussion at a CRO class I took this weekend with Troy. Unless I misunderstood him, you cannot declare a forbidden action ahead of time. You can only declare something a forbidden action after someone actually does the action in question. "walls extend from the ground to infinity" in the stage description is probably the best bet.
  19. You are correct, as long as all of the mags you use are 10 round mags. If you use 1 9 round mag, you must load all mags with 9 rounds - though you could start with one of your 10 round mags on loaded start stages to avoid using a barney mag. 8.1.2.2 If a magazine is used that holds less than division capacity, the shooter will load all magazines to the capacity of the lowest magazine throughout the match.
  20. I've been waiting to have some spare time to play with sketchup and finally had it today. I haven't done much with sketchup or stage design and thought I'd see if anyone here was willing to give some feedback. PDF and sketchup file attached. Round count: 24 Targets: 8 metric, 8 steel plates Start position: hands on any of the 3 sets of Xs sketchup file: http://www.mattyoung.us/dontbeasquare.skp DontBeASquare.pdf
  21. Would he not then get a procedural for the slide not locking back between the two strings? IIRC an El Pres is slidelock reload. I think this would be a time common sense would apply and that would not be an additional penalty. Already down the time dealing with the malfunction, and the extra time needed to store the mag at the required reload.
  22. How much difference does the bullet profile make? Loading for an M&P if that makes any difference.
  23. I wouldn't expect them to since the bullet will be continually slowing - and I'm sure the measurement accuracy with $100-200 equipment is less than perfect anyway. It would be interesting to know how much they differed on average and what the SD of the differences between them was. Also if which measured highest vs. lowest was consistent throughout the day.
  24. I know this is an old thread, but do you hook the suspenders onto the inner belt or the outer, or will the clips fit around both?
  25. Anyone tried these? Looks like a great price for FMJ. http://rmrbullets.com/shop/bullets-for-reloading/bullets-for-reloading-9mm-355-12/9mm-124-gr-fmj-new-round-nose/
