  1. Oh, I knew that, was thinking it would take at most $100 more than I could get for the SDB to buy a 550.
  2. I'd love to go to a 650 or 1050, just can't justify the money. Resale value of SDB, I don't expect to be out more than $50-100 upgrading to 550 (not incl conversion kit/dies).
  3. I've been tossing the idea of upgrading my SDB to a 550 for a while. I even grabbed a set of Dillon dies and a conversion kit when I saw a good deal on them on the forum. I like the SDB, but have a couple of little things that bug me. The work area is a bit small to me and I often have to press the brass into station 1 again when it hits the tool head (though that may be operator error going to fast and not getting it all the way in). What are the opinions of those who have used both - particularly if you switched form one to the other. The ability to load rifle rounds doesn't matter to me, and I know the SDB uses proprietary dies. I'm just wondering ergonomically which is preferred by those that have used both.
  4. Now on to beat Clemson and whoever wins the exciting 10-7 shootout between Alabama and Michigan State
  5. I wish instead of publishing and mailing front sight they would just publish it online.
  6. Seems to be a conflict in the rules then. 6.1 limits what rules can be modified by a stage description and number of rounds in reload magazines isn't included. In fact, 6.1.4 seems to go out of the way to exclude start condition of magazines from being modified by the stage description. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Doesn't affect the question, but it's an illegal stage. 6.1, you can't specify the number of rounds required in magazines for reloads. 6.1 A Stage Description cannot override the rulebook except under the following conditions: 6.1.1 To address a safety concern as it applies to the limits of the range 6.1.2 Provide the option of not wearing a concealment garment. 6.1.3 Specify the number of rounds in the firearm at the start of the stage, up to division capacity. 6.1.4 Specify the start condition and position for the firearm, and the start position for ammunition feeding devices. 6.1.5 Specify the shooter start position.
  8. If you were only loading 9mm now and only expected to add other handgun rounds if any would you take the 550 or the SDB?
  9. The intent is irrelevant. There are targets, the. WSB, and the rules. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  10. No inner-outer belts in IDPA Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  11. And the belt rules Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  12. Other than a drop offset holster being legal in USPSA, I can't think of any significant equipment rule differences between Production and SSP. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  13. I know this is an old thread, but has anyone had trouble with light primer strikes using the striker spring from the competition kit. My primer stockpile is mostly CCI. Any guess what the pull weight ends up being with the stock striker spring and everything else installed?
  14. Seems like silly stage design, but the rules interpretation is correct. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  15. Just started up another topic about the 147s. I have the same issue. Maybe the M&P just likes short loads for some reason. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  16. Only have the one gun so loading that short isn't inconvenient, just wanted the opinions of some more experienced as to wether or not it's dangerously short. The OAL discrepancy between the Lyman manual and Hogdons site make me unsure. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  17. Not a pro. They pass a case gage at 1.14 which is where I really planned on starting, but those don't quite go all the way in and have to be shaken a bit to come out. The 1.14 will pass case gage and will go into battery and eject when I load from a mag and rack the slide to eject, but don't pass the "plunk" test with the barrel out of the gun. 18. I just received some 147 grain black bullets and while setting up my press I had to get down to 1.098 before the cartridge would drop all the way in and fall out freely. Is this normal? Seems very short to me, but I'm fairly new to reloading. Should I worry about compressing a load at this length (using WSF). Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  19. What gun are you shooting that out of? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  20. I loaded them with 4.6gn of CFE Pistol at 1.125. I don't have a chrono, but I did shoot them at the OK state IDPA match. They didn't have chrono set up on staff day, but did collect rounds from the SOs. Mine either made 125pf at that load or they didn't actually check it. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  21. The rule is all mags have to be loaded to division capacity at the start signal, not loaded to capacity at load and make ready. If all mags only have 10 when you come to the line and you don't top off, the mag in the gun is not at division capacity after you rack the slide - and is not loaded to division capacity at the start signal. 22. I agree with the DQ, but would lean more toward it being into he ground too close. Just to play devils advocate, what if the shooter makes the argument he wasn't finished. The command is "if you are finished, unload..." If he didn't unload and show clear, it wasn't an AD during unload and show clear, he was still shooing the course of fire. Again, just devils advocate, I'd DQ him too. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  23. That worried me less than the powder bar moving with no case present. Guess i'll find it wjphe. I put powder in the hopper if its enough to spill. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  24. The spring doesn't initially center in the white plasmic piece, then pops when it shifts to the center. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  25. Finally drank the cool aid and have my SDB set up, but I have a couple of questions to make sure I'm right. 1. Is it normal to have a click at the bottom of the stroke from the spring on he failsafe rod popping into place in the white plastic piece or should that line up smoothly? 2. Should the powder bar move out slightly - quarter to half inch - with no case present or should it be motionless without a case? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
