  1. I wasn't going to go any further than trying to have appropriate bolts available. I saw some pics where people had to cut a notch for a 550 but wasn't sure about SDB. Will be ordering an inline fab mount if I have to or just a scrap board to move the press away from the edge Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  2. I've got my first Dillon on the way - a square deal b to replace my lee turret and would like to get my bench ready. I'm hoping I can find answers to a couple of questions here. How thick is the base of the SDB - I mean how long do my mounting bolts need to be in addition to my bench thickness. Also, my bench has a ¾ inch thick top with a 2x4 under the edge with no overhang. Am I likely to have to cut a notch in the 2x4 to have room for the handle to move or should I be good? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  3. Will it work in the SDB?Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  4. They wouldn't know that a reload was going to be needed. All of the reloading rules revolve around the expectation that in a "real gunfight", nobody would know when there's a round in the chamber but not one in the mag, that the shot you're about to fire is the last one before reloading, etc.Trying to apply "why" questions is usually a loosing battle in IDPA. It's like trying to figure out why you need 7 men on the line of scrimmage in football instead of 6 or 8. It's just a game with rules.Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  5. Yes, as long as it can pass the dowel test, but unless its a mile from your body, nobody is going to check at a club match. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  6. How do you figure it takes you out of production? They're still a notch and post type sight and sights are on the list of minor external parts that can be replaced with aftermarket parts. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  7. Way too cheap for that. Range brass Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  8. It's to bad that the interpretation of the the rules are not the same. So, that everyone is playing by the same set of rules. I know that the powers that be try very hard to do this. Next time the stage description could be more specific. It is getting better with newer rule books. The best way to ensure consistent interpretations is writing rules and stage descriptions (that fit in the rules) and require no interpretation. Rules discussions shouldn't involve things like intent and principles - they should involve what's in black and white.Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  9. Thanks, I'll give it a try Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  10. What with? Fine grit sandpaper or something else? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  11. I noticed some brass shavings - almost like dust around my shell plate (lee Classic turret press). I started taking apart does and it seems to be coming from the expander die - here was quite a buildup of shavings - almost like brass dust. I don't think I'm over expanding - the belling is barely perceptible to the eye, just enough to set the bullet in the case. Is this a problem or normal? Any possible solutions? Many of my rounds also seem to "stick" coming out of the powder die. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  12. It's perfectly legal. He round dumping rule went away a couple of years ago. It was a silly unenforceable rule anyway - you can't prove of they're dumping rounds or just want to make up shots. The only way I can think of a stage designer could avoid competitors dumping is [emoji769] make it limited scoring. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  13. Anyone use these? Thoughts on them? http://www.benstoegerproshop.com/product-p/daa-lima.htm
  14. So where do most who carry put their loaded carry weapon back on. I don't think I've been to a match yet that actually provided a place to unholster and clear ones carry weapon or load it back up before leaving. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  15. I ran across a few odd pieces of brass as i was sorting my pickups from this weekend. The headstamp is "ammoland." Inside the case, there seems to be a small shelf around the inside - that is, the inner diameter at the bottom of the case is smaller than that at the top of the case. Is this an issue?
  16. Sat in a boat with 5 inches of standing water in it on staff day for the IDPA OK state match Friday. Rained all day. Saturday was a muddy mess but decent weather for shooters. I'll do it for a major match but would have gone back to the house if it was just a club match. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  17. I'm working on the same decision. Size is what keeps me wavering. I don't care if it auto indexes or not, and as long as the SDB dies work I don't see the problem with them being proprietart Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  18. Redone in excel. http://www.mattyoung.us/ReloadingCosts.xlsx
  19. I got a little bored during a recent snow day and worked up a google spreadsheet for calculating reloading costs. I thought I'd share it in case anyone else was interested. Select the spreadsheet tab for each of the reloading components and enter your cost, then click on the load tab and choose the components from those you entered to see the cost per round. http://drive.google.com/templates?q=Reloading+Costs+Template&sort=hottest&view=author

    Shotgun Choice

I shoot USPSA and IDPA and have been thinking of trying out tap or skeet but don't have a shotgun. Dad is clearing out some stuff and there are two shotguns - I get one and my brother gets one, I get my choice. One is a 1955 a Browning A5, the other is a mid 70s Ithaca 37. Originally I was supposed to get the Browning but dad thought since I shoot left handed I might like the Ithaca more. I know neither is ideal, but does anyone have an opinion on which might make a better choice to start clay sports with? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  21. Just received an email about this. I've seen homemade ones on youtube, but don't have the skills to make one. http://inlinefabrication.com/collections/lee/products/case-ejector-for-the-lee-classic-turret-reverse-rotation
  22. Where do you find the zeros and are they affordable? I've held off buying FMJ because Montana golds were so much more than plated or coated.
