  1. +1; try braced kneeling: legs at 90 degrees, butt sitting on back heel and insertion of tricep resting on forward knee. I'm sure somebody can describe it better or provide a pic or illustration. I'll try to find one to post. Edit for poor typing.
  2. "That angel gut just felt me up" "Mullett with headlight" I needed that today.
  3. I don't know about Ohio, but I did my EMT - P at University of Iowa EMS-LRC. Great people and program and I believe they now have a EMT - Basic program. Let me know if you need contact info and I'll get it all for you.
  4. 17. You think loading the dishwasher means getting your wife drunk. It doesn't...? Well, you learn something new everyday.
  5. I was told that Benelli DOES NOT make a shotgun with a pistol grip. Period. End of discussion. So I left and came back with my M1S90 with a pistol grip, laid it on the counter and asked the guy if that funny looking thing sticking off the bottom of the stock was a steering wheel. A$$hat.
  6. +1 to Hank Ellis' suggestion; that's the same thing I was thinking of when i read the first post.
  7. Good Deal! Please post the dates of the next match and if there is any way i can make it I will. Hope to see you there.
  8. I wanted to be there but I had already committed to shoot the Special Olympics Benefit Match in Pine Bluff. That match just supports a great cause and the match raised over $2000.00 for the Special Olympics. We got very luck down south. The rain did not start till after the last shot was fired. I will be at the hillbilly for sure. PHolstead, What type of match is it and when do they hold it? Thats a match I'd like to shoot or if i can't make it just support the cause. PM some info when you have the time. Thread Hijack Mode Off
  9. Good for you Matt... getting 9th in that crowd is no easy task. It lasted to 9th? I'm surprised. I walked the prize table after TGO because I was the 2nd place guy shooting a Springfield Armory gun. Congrats Matt! Just wondering, what were the other top 10 finishers shooting if you know?
  10. Try Cafepress.com; type "IPSC" in the search field. I don't know if they have patches, but they do have decals, magnets, t-shirts, etc.
  11. When I had Limited gun I preferred the way a flat trigger felt. no real difference in my splits. My next gun will have the Infinity ITS so I can experiment and find what feels and works best for me.
  12. Hey, 2nd in class at your FIRST major match is a great accomplishment! Keep up the hard work and you'll have a slot to Nats before you lnow it! Congrats to you man!
  13. If I order a SVI slide with: Front and rear Xcelerator cuts Panel cut Butler cut 3 sided Flat top and serrate at 40 lpi How would this compare in weight to a Brazos or Bedell type lightened slide? Would it be enough to produce a similar "feel" or recoil impulse or would I need to have them hack off some more metal? ETA: These are the specs of the pistol I'm considering. Ideas and input very welcome and appreciated! 14. +1, and thanks to the Sailors who rescued the Captain. Pirates aren't real bright. Shooting at a destroyer with a AK 47 is about like shooting a tank with a BB gun, never a good outcome
  15. I specified the steel frame, just filled out the other stuff because it was a blank on the form,
  16. They wanted $2950 for this Limited pistol I speced out on Gunbuilder: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Design Number: 13989 User: Doug Breaux - dsb45acp@comcast.net Design Name: Limited pistol Template Name: Govt Pistol - Wide Body Last Updated: 03/08/09 Quantity: 1 Special Instructions: High cut of grip Pin (deactivate) grip safety Make sure Brazos Mag well will fit pistol AET Barrel Option: Non-AET Barrel: Plain Barrel Barrel Length: 5 Barrel Style: Non-Bushing Style (Cone/Bull Barrel) Caliber: 40 S&W California/ Massachusetts Resident: No Compensator: No Compensator Dust Cover: Infinity Extended Dust Cover Dust Cover Fluting: None Frame Material: Carbon Steel Frame Style: Competition (Wide body) Front Sight: Red Fiber Optic .100 wide x 1.5mm Front Slide Cut: Xcelerator Serrations Grip Length: Standard, Right Handed (Competition frame only) Grip Safety: Stainless Steel Grip Surface / Finish: Scotts Grip (Competition and Compact) Guide Rod: Tungsten Gun type: Government (5 inch) Hammer: Square Hammer Finish: Silver Finish IPSC Modified Division Infinity IMM Special®: No (typical) ITI Rail cut: No Rail Cut Mag Well: Hi Cap Aluminum - Silver Magazine Catch: Steel, 4-40 tap Magazine Release Button: None Mainspring Housing: CS Flat Panel Cut: Yes Pistol Finish: Blued Finish Radial Flute: None Rear Lightening: No Rear Sight: Infinity Rear Sight Absolute Target Zero Rear Slide Cut: Xcelerator Serrations Slide Lock Pin: Stainless Steel Slide Material: Carbon Steel Slide Profile: Three Sided Slide Racker / Lightening: No Stirrup Cut: Butler Style Strut: Steel Thumb Safety Material: Stainless Steel Thumb Safety Style: Ambidextrous Wide Top Rib: 40 lines per inch Trigger Base color: Silver Trigger Bow: Stainless Steel Trigger Insert Color: Silver Trigger Insert Style: Enos Top Curved Triglide System: No Trigger Guard - New: Under Cut Trigger Guard I don't think it's a bad price. 17. Try one of these. I bet you could get past security even if you had to take off your belt http://www.bowenknife.com/
  18. This is something I've always wondered about and just never asked the question. I've seen some people on the board (who are much more experienced and better competitors then I am) compare "B" class shooters to either a "blackbelt" in martial arts or SWAT types as far as general skill level goes. Do any of our resident instructors/LEO/military members agree with this?

    Glock 23

For the G23 my wife carries, Remington 180 gr. JHP; for my 45 Federal 230 gr. HydraShock.
  20. PM sent. IMO, for "tactical" training, it's hard to beat Thunder Ranch. I've also heard good things about Tac Pro and Rifles Only. However, if you want to learn straight up shooting skills I highly reccomend Frank Garcia or Manny Bragg at Universal Shooting Academy. Others on the forum can also give you their experiences with Max Michel, Jr., Matt Burkett, Dave Re, USSA, etc. The forum itself is also a wealth of information. Good Luck.
  21. OK, so let me see if I've got this right. By "your own competition" I assume they mean a life and death encounter where some one might be shooting at you. In that case, I can see why skills such as rapid movement to cover or a position where you can return fire, trigger control and accurate shot placement under duress would be of no value whatsoever When I am on duty and bad guys pull guns on me, I run just like that. Generally screaming like a girl also. Quote - Brian Payne Now that's funny
  22. Depends on which division you're shooting. I know they are OK in Open and Limited.
  23. I'm very soory for you and your wife's loss, prayers will be sent. I also sent you a PM.
  24. I think there was a pic of a truck like that in the latest issue of "Front Sight". I'll try to grab mine later tonight and see if I can fins a page number for you.
