  1. I think the ad was about mental toughness. "When the competiton starts, all bets are off" is perfect. To me it says you can win! Or acomplish whatever goal you have. Plus, the guy in the deer stand has a pretty good bolt throw on that rifle!
  2. Is the match still "first come first served" registration or is there a way to earn a slot at a state or regional match this year? Still at PASA? I'm really want to attend so I can so TGO and Dave S. the proper way to shoot SS
  3. Usually it is. But I think it may be a little slow this month due to Nationals in Las Vegas this weekend. Most of the office staff are probably busy with that.
  4. MannyUSA (on this forum a s a dealer) has various finger exercise bands in his shop. Give him a call & I'm sure he can help you out. As for forearm strength, wrist and reverse grip wrist curls have worked for me in the past; also a reverse grip bicep curl. PM Jake DiVita on the forums & he'll set your friends up with some good exercises. Good Luck!

    Divorce

You know why divorce is so expensive? Because its worth it! Good luck with the next chapter of your life, brother!
  6. Well, didn't do as well as I would like to have. In spite of all my prep, I still had butterflies in my stomach on the first couple of stages. By my guesstimation, I should be high "C" class on the next update. It is disappointing but is past now & I will work on flawless execution of fundamentals for the Gator Classic this fall. Thanks for all the help & advice everybody.
  7. Alright y'all! I have taken the advice. I am using meditation as a path to a new self image. I am dry firing and working on improving my physical condition. I have a detail cleaned gun that functions flawlessly, GREAT ammo from DC Ammo, and have checked, double checked and function fired all equipment. The match is Sunday and I will go and shoot "A"s on all targets because that is just the kind of shooter I am and is my default mode of shooting. Thank you all for all the advice and when I earn that GM card, I'll post it here!
  8. Try "Front Sight Forward" from Steve Anderson's Dry Fire Drills.
  9. Thanks for all the insight and advice guys. I'm putting it to use and concentrating on the fundamentals. I'm also working on the mindset that if I'm "B" in Ltd, then there's no reason I can't make at least "B" in S.Stack. I'll let y'all know how the next match goes.
  10. Drugs destroyed my marriage & family. I despise them & the "people" who make and sell them. I am so sorry about you friend and he, you and his son will be in my prayers.
  11. I am working on the immediate goal by: -Dry fire at least 3-4 days a week. I am currently working to make all movements as smooth as possible. -Concentrating on seeing the front sight in the "A" zone for all shots. (I'm using a business card in the A zone of 1/4 size metric targets.) -Improving my physical condition through wt training and aerobic activity @ least 3 times a week -Attempting to improve my self image to be congruent with my goals. This is the one I'm having the most problem with & usually where the problem in the OP crops up.
  12. Long term kind of "intangible" is to be the best shooter I can be. Short term is I want to class as "B" or better in SStk at this classifier.
  13. I have noticed that in just regular everyday situations I have no problem at all motivating myself to dry fire or practice. However, as soon as I have what I perceive to be a "major" match coming up I loose my motivation & start having difficulty with my dry fire. Any idea why this is or suggestion on how to overcome it? Do I have a severe form of performance anxiety, fear of failure or success, or just a poor self image? Input is greatly appreciated since I have a classifier match coming up soon and would like to do well. Maybe I should try electroconvulsive therapy or just get my buddy to stand behind me with a cattle prod or something.
  14. Demon, I'm not associated with Dawson and certainly not an expert so take this for what it's worth. It's not a one piece unit but does insert and go together very easily. I'm using CMC mags with my Kimber and the "no gap" model; you will need to order the Dawson base pads to make it work right. It's a great unit and my mag changes with it are just as quick as they were with my Brazos SC double stack. But Travis T. doesn't have anything to worry about...yet.
  15. Congrats! Going to shoot a Special Classifier this weekend and get my class in Single Stack. Got to watch that front sight!
  16. I do this drill with a 2 sec par time in dry fire. This was a stage start at a local match last weekend, I'll see if I can find my time for live fire.
  17. Milt Sparks makes exactly what you're looking for. I have two. Also, CompTac makes plain leather belts that have a Kydex middle layer for the stiffness needed to carry a pistol.
  18. I think you're good to go for USPSA Single Stack and L-10 if you have some 10 round mags. Seems like you're set up for IDPA CDP too. I would spend some money on Steve Andersons dry fire book, a good timer, and make your own dry fire area (look into Micha's range diary here for some ideas). Since you reload, make up some dummy ammo (no powder or primers) and practice, practice, practice! Soon enough, you'll discover what works for you and after a while you will alter your gun and gear accordingly. If you have the time and disposable income, look into some coaching. Welcome to the sport and forums, and I hope to see you at the range someday!
  19. I tried the classifieds a while ago, no joy. Any help greatly appreciated.
  20. I'm really partial to USA (Universal Shooting Academy) mag pouches. I have 3 for Limited but only 2 for Single Stack and can't find any more anywhere . Can somebody point me in the right direction for the SS mag pouches, either USA or something very similar? Any help appreciated.
  21. Don't know, but he needs to get his booger hook off the bang button
  22. "I'm always insistent, but I'm not to be trusted." One of my favorite shows, can't wait for Season 2!
  23. Hey Sarge, is that a Techwell TGO with yout Ergo grips? How did you mount that? That is exactly the kind of set up I'm looking for.
  24. the return of agent Duchess Can't wait!
  25. PM sent. I feel for you brother, BTDT. Take care of yourself and your daughter. You are both in my prayers.
