  1. Silly question: Can I use a collapsible stock on a 20” AR? Will the shorter buffer and spring work with the full length gas system? I know it’s silly, but I just really like the 6 position collapsible stocks and, with a little luck, the AWB will sunset in a few days. Thanks. Cy
  2. If I start doing that drill, I might have to change my BE user signature. That would be a shame.
  3. primersinmyshoe, Where did you get those pistol stands inside your safe. I need one or three.
  4. After seeing these reload times, I think I'll switch to Open!
  5. I shot some 155's under 4.7 grains of Titegroup recently and it was very soft. I don't know the PF but I'm sure it makes minor.
  6. I've had good luck with 1.135 as well. Too much OAL length and the rounds get stuck in the mags.
  7. The RO should have taken care of those issues.
  8. I don't think it's LTD legal on the STI because STI has not made 500 guns like that (or any for that matter). I defer to others that know the rules better. I'd just hate for you to do that and then find out that you now have a Open gun!
  9. Steve Anderson on this forum also has a book on dry firing.
  10. In Production, I believe you're correct. I shoot Limited, so it's OK.
  11. I wish that were true for me too. Even with an arched mainspring, my STI always point very low for me.
  12. There's got to be an extended mag release out there that can solve your problem.
  13. I'm guessing it has something to do with the grip angle. Eric?
  14. That's why I just shoot a G22 in LTD. Does that put me at a disadvantage - maybe - but I don't shoot for a living so I just grip it and rip it
  15. . . so why do you do it - switch back and forth that is?

    HiViz Sights

    A great customer-focused company!
  17. DP - will the smith need to open up the gas ports since he is cutting the barrel? I'm thinking of having my 20" BM government barrel cut down to 18" as well.
  18. If you dry fire in your basement or garage, you can just put duct tape on the floor for the starting box.

    Hosing

This is very achievable. IMO, the key is to see and focus on the exact SPOT on the target that you want to hit. If you focus on the whole target, you'll get poor hits. BTW - I've seen Erik out shoot his Benelli! Slow down big guy - we're not going to catch you anyway.
  20. Matt - are you giving up the Glock? How does the grip angle compare to the Glock?
  21. With a little luck, the ban will sunset in weeks. I would like a M-4 type collapsable stock on my non-competition AR. I don't want to pay $200+ for the fancy Magpul or similar stocks. Are the 6 position stocks from RRA, Bushmaster, DMPS, etc pretty much the same? Thanks.

    I hate LEAD

MAS, As everyone else said, you MUST stop shooting inside. I shot inside for a while and got high lead as well. Don't shoot and smoke or eat. Carry hand wipes / baby wipes in your range bag and put some on your reloading bench. Use them often. Don't shoot lead and use complete jacketed bullets. Good luck!
  23. Duane Thomas’s new article: “The Case for IPSC” Although I haven’t renewed my subscription for at least a year, HANDGUNS magazine continues to send me the magazine. Most of the articles are not interesting to me, but I do find humor in the articles by Walt Rauch (although the articles are not meant to be humorous). However, HANDGUNS does publish articles from our fellow board member, Duane Thomas, from time to time. Duane’s articles are always interesting and well written. His articles also have the credibility of the being written by a competitor and REAL shooter (which is not the norm for most gun writers). His article in this month’s edition is entitled THE CASE FOR IPSC. This is a great article that calls out the mall ninjas and other uninformed critics and gun writers. One of my favorite lines from the article states (I’m paraphrasing): The reason many "shooters" say that IPSC is “not tactical” and don’t compete is because they’re simply scared – scared to get their butts kicked and really finding out the quality of their skills (or lack thereof). This is a great article that took guts for Duane to write because many gun writers and readers don’t want to hear the hard truths. Go buy a copy and support Duane!
