  1. Spook, I think there will always be a difference in your dry fire and live fire times. Steve Anderson made reference to that issue in his book. However, I do believe that decreasing par times in dry fire will translate into decreasing par times in live fire - but those two times will not be the same.

    Locking Block Pin

I've broken two of those pins as well - but both in a G27.
  3. BTW - does anyone know how this comp is attached? It looks like it's possibly a pin welded over on a threaded barrel.
  4. scooterj - same comp as mine?
  5. John, No, the grip angle seemed fine and I didn't loose the dot. However, I was just standing and shooting and not runin' and gunin'.
  6. I shot the new Armalite upper yesterday. It's a mid length gas system with a 16" barrel (thinnned under the hand guards), with the Armalite comp. Here're some pics: All the recoil was directed rearward and it was very flat. It had more rearward recoil than my 20" with a BM Y Comp, but just as flat. It was far flatter tham my BM 16" with a Smith Enterprises brake and a carbine length gas system. I put a piece of notebook paper up at 25 yards. The dot in my Aimpoint never left paper in recoil. I'm pleased with it and think I'll keep it on for now.
  7. John, Chris gave me his Open gun a 200 rounds on Thurs. It rocks!!
  8. I remember reading an excellent post By Travis T on Max Jr's forum called: To Shoot Open. I suggest you find it and read it for yourself, but the thesis is that shooting Open will improve your LTD game in the long run. If Travis's performance this season is an indication, the thesis proves true. I've recently decided to take his advice and give Open a try. Good luck. Cy
  9. Jake - that could be it. I'm just not conscious of it at all.
  10. Well, I shot it and it didn't blast the C-More. However, I shot a STI major 9 Open gun built by JL Hardy at the same time. It made my FrankinGlock look/feel pretty bad. Anyone want to buy a C-More and Carver mount for a Glock . . .
  11. Both!!! . . and for the record, the scope mount cracked
  12. Cy, Are you 110% sure? Coming from my G35, I have to really relax my grip when I pick up an Open gun. It's a timing issue, and one that won't change in the sub-conscious easily. Flex, I'm fairly sure I was not over gripping or pushing the gun. The slide doesn't lock back and I dropped the hammer on a empty chamber several times and I didn't seem to be pushing or timing it. The dot drop seemed to be more pronounced in slow fire. However, what you say makes sense. After shooting a Glock in LTD, maybe I'm subconsciously timing the gun like the Glock. Maybe it's the grip angle. Who knows. I'll try an arched mainspring housing after I buy the gun to see if that changes things. Despite the dot drop, it was a lot of fun shooting it.
  13. I shot a Major 9 Open gun built by JL Hardy yesterday. Great gun!! The dot seemed to dive downward in recoil for me and my second shots usually were lower than the first. I don't over-grip the gun. Should I try a lighter recoil spring? Thanks.
  14. I recently bought a new house. I hired a moving company and they made short work of the safe with a refrigerator dolly. It's not worth the chance of damaging the safe or your own back! Just pay someone to move it. Put some $ back into the economy.
  15. Sniper, I feel your pain. Yesterday, Chris Patty was kind enough to lend me his major 9 Open gun for a test drive - the scope mount cracked. After that, I pulled out my Glock 23 and the slide tab thingy (that you pull down when you remove the slide from the frame) cracked and blew out - causing the 23 to double on me. That's two broken guns within two hours. Anyone have an Open gun I can borrow . . .
  16. A Glock 22 or 35 are also good and inexpensive choices. I shoot a G22 in LTD. Do you reload? If not, many S_I guns aren't reliable with factory 40 (I don't know about Para). However, if you really start shooting - you will start reloading.
  17. In L-10 it doesn't matter, but in LTD, you get more rounds in a 40 mag than a 45 mag, so 40 is the overwhelming choice.

    Raw Fish

I loved sushi - until I got sick on it. Now I can't even go in a sushi place.
  19. Here's a link (I hope) AR mid length upper
