  1. If the striker fired guns are all grouped together it might just be in ESP. They are more like single actions than true double actions. Be careful what you ask for.... you might get it. This might get a bunch more true double action guns in competition too. kr PS: it was great to meet you and shake your hand on Saturday.
  2. My first thought is not sandbagging, but it does pique my interest to go look at this person's scores at their local club. This happened to me as a Marksman. I shot an almost Sharpshooter score on the Classifier, but could not break out. Then I won handily a month later. I had a great match. No screw ups, no penalties, and reloads were right on. The match fit my style of shooting, that is it contained things I am good at. I guess others did not. I let the jeer of "sandbagger" go when it was shouted from the crowd. I' m old, never did see well, and it is getting worse, I shoot from my street clothes, IWB holster with 190PF ammo, and I worked the 3 days prior to the match, including being an SO. So I let it go, cause it didn't fit me. kr There is a $5 fine for whining. You are what you do, everything else is just talk. Gaming is a personal admission that you can not win on a level playing field.
  3. Sorry, No. They would be considered slide lightening, which is verboten in all IDPA semi-auto divisions. Interesting look. kr

    Para p-13

Every P13-45 I have seen had 13 round mags, hence the name. Of course Para shipped 10 round mags during the Clinton ban. MecGar aftermarket mags held 12 or 10 instead of 13. See http://www.cdnninvestments.com/paraordnance.html kr
  5. If I didn't have the financial investment in Glocks, I'd probably be switching to M&P or XD. You may want to consider them..... kr
  6. Another vote for CompTac singles. I used leather for a few yars, but the eventually loosen up. I have two Comp Tacs for my G21, which is carried daily all year long. They are adjustable tension. They are positive on the belt, and will withstand being taken on and off every day, for years. You do not have to thread them on your belt, the clip on. Which is a plus if you carry and have to go into a " gun free" er, um..... "killing zone." kr
  7. From your website, I've seen a good number of ingenious devises used in your stages.....and you've never used your construction skills to create some kind of shade? Rob, Good point, but not likely for the pistol pits. We need to drive into them for setup/teardown and that precludes a permanent shade. But shade is going up in some of the other larger pits. For sewing the state match I set up a portable shade. For shooting I use a shooting cart with a big umbrella and a Tilley hat, and maybe a soakable vest if I can understand if it is like wearing a wet blanket or not. Thanks Rob, take care! kr
  8. Rob, We often shoot in over 100 degree weather, with no shade. Out last match was only 99 degrees. So some cooling would be a good thing. As for coverage, no problem. Think IWB. kr
  9. I'm interested in this vest. Does it feel dry or wet or damp when wearing it? Thanks! kr
  10. Duane, Good trick. I use Priority to mean urgency. That is nearest to farthest, or as you see them. I use Sequence to be 1-1-2-1-1 a sequence of numbers. kr
  11. From the 2007 IDPA Nationals at http://www.idpa.com Presumably all IDPA members and currently classified. Total Shooters by Division and Class .........Total.....MA......EX.......SS......MM CDP.......84.......16......19.......30.......19 ESP......107.......17......23.......37.......30 SSP......116.......32......31.......34.......19 ESR.......17........3.......2........7........5 SSR.......20........4.......5........7........4 Total....344.......72......80......115.......77 There is a lot more data where this came from..... kr
  12. Duane, I concur. One could go to http://www.idpa.com and look at major match results, to see the breakdown of shooters in those matches, including the Nationals. It seems like that is the correct sample to use for this discussion. kr
  13. If anyone wants to see it done in the 60's, there is Matt Burkett's dvd "Practical Shooting" "Winning IDPA Techniques" volume 5. kr
  14. Another quick thought. I don't recall anyone saying what this gun will be used for. If IDPA, stippling move the gun from SSP to ESP. kr
  15. If you take a trip over to http://glocktalk.com/forums/ and do a search for "stippling" you will find dozens of threads and lots of pictures. Deep stippling, different patterns, etc. Please report back how this works out. I think Glocks are way too slick in the hand and I want to do two G21's sometime soon. Thanks! kr
  16. I have plans for such a door. We needed a door that opened in or out with the hinges on the left and that opened in or out with the hinges on the right. Plus we needed it to reliably trigger other props when opened. Check out http://www.parmarng.org/freeidaho and on the second screen look for a link called Door_&_Wall_Prop. It can be converted to any direction of opening, or side the hinges are on in just a couple of minutes. It is made pretty light weight, and has served well in many local matches and Sanctioned State matches too. kr
  17. Bill, Thank you ! ! ! There are no signs of you slowing down yet, so we have some time. kr

  19. Ken, It ain't quite that simple. What if you shot three real easy matches with 8 stages each and your average time was 88 seconds. Or what if you shot three hard matches with 12 stages each and your time was 200 seconds. You can't just use the score from any ole match as a classifier score. There is no way to equate them. After doing IDPA for 9 years, I really don't think there is too much of anything wrong with the IDPA classifier or the classification system. Except that most people hate stage 3. One match, 90 rounds, and you are classified. If you invite a certified SO or the MD to the range for a practice session, you can be reclassified in under an hour. The new rule, at least new in 2005, that bumped a shooter if they beat enough people in the classification above theirs, has gone a long way in removing the sandbaggers from IDPA. I know, I know, they just change divisions and sandbag all over again. But it is catching up with most of them in their new divisions too. kr
  20. Ryan, Hold on there big fella. My post did not tell you what to do or not do or what IDPA's rationale is for anything. It merely stated a fact. I know no one that uses one of these for daily use, they only show up at night matches.... somehow. In fact, only about 5% of the people that I know that carry, even carry a flashlight. More facts. Not a declaration of what you do, or should do, or what IDPA thinks about it. The folks that have shown up at our night matches with similar devices freely admit that they do not use them for everyday carry, they were specifically bought to be used in our night match. Another true statement, not a declaration of what you do, should do, shouldn't do, or what IDPA wants you to do. Personally, I think it is a clever device. If I knew 2 minutes before the SHTF, I would put one on. Wait, no I wouldn't I'd run the other way. kr
  21. At our club, you can use lanyards, whatever, as long as the flashlight is stowed in a pouch or a pocket at the start signal and the hands are naturally at ones sides. That is, you have put on the contraption on the clock. No one I know walks around at night with their flashlight in their hand using one of these devices. After people hear that it can't be "worn" at the beep, they pretty much don't care about the whiz bang flashlight do-dads. kr
  22. I think I'd weld up the gouge and try that part again? Perhaps slot it first and use the slots for additional clamping. kr
  23. Actually, center is more like Wititah Kansas or Omaha Nebraska! kr
  24. I used top quality leather pouches for daily carry for a couple of years. But they stretched out, and would not hold the magazines securely. After trying to shrink the leather, I gave up and went to Kydex. I have been wearing the kydex for about 5 years, and they have retained their original shape. I had the same experience with a leather Surefire pouch too. It stretched out. Now I'm using kydex there too. Good luck either way! kr
  25. Oops, My mistake. I read Duane's post several days ago, and remembered incorrectly that it was about the CR magazine pouches. Sorry for the trip into the weeds. Still seems like the number of people wearing CRs for concealed carry is very small. One guy so far on this forum, if I remember the thread completely. Never-the-less, Robert Ray is on the case, and a ruling will be forthcoming..... kr
