  1. And..........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................Yes, we are going by FT. Benning/Horner scoring Hop
  2. TXD, Good meeting you, and good to see all the TX and OK clan. Keep up the good work. HOP
  3. WOW Inked, 2 seconds for a C shooter !!!! It took me 3 years to break 2 seconds and I was well into B class by then. Strada, time isn't the goal. CONSISTANCY is the goal. the more you do them the better they will get and quicker............kinda goes hand in hand. IF I was to do my old draw shoot 2 reload shoot 2 10 times and average like I used to I would likely be around the 2 second mark right now. There are others faster, and there are others slower. Knowing in your mind how long it takes to get reloaded and back shooting between ports, shooting positions ect is where it matters. Hopalong (a hacker that does OK sometimes)
  4. I skip disappearing targets only when the time outweighs the points gained on that stage. Different stages different times require different approaches. Back in 2005 at the Nationals there was a sliding target that had 2 shoot and 1 noshoot on it on a 160 point stage. I chose not to shoot at it at all while all but a couple of other revo shooters took at least a shot or two (there was 2 left in the gun when getting to them) I was 2nd on the stage and only Jerry was better. (I did have the best time, but he shot better points). On the stage you have drawn it depends on if that is really a half wall that I could get back to the first 2 targets fast enough to negate the loss in time I might go by the first array and get them after shooting the drop turner. If not then I'd likely skip the drop turner as the stage is drawn. HOP
  5. Hi all, The 2010 Mississippi 3-gun challenge will be on the weekend of October 9 of 2010. Local staff will shoot it the 2nd or 3rd to make it easier on traveling staff to shoot it on the 8th. the main match is the 9th and 10th. Just like last year the Match Director is Sam Keen (me) the Range Master is Kurt Miller and the Stats master is LINDA CHICO. Just like last year we'll do 8 stages. UNLIKE last year it'll be perfect weather !!! Entry form and stuff coming soon ! Hopalong
  6. I played with some Blazer(CCI) 180 and s hot it over my Chrony brand Chronograph. It was Amazingly consistant 6 shots were 3@1000 fps, 1 @ 989 fps, 1 @ 988 fps, and 1 @ 986 fps. quite accurate too ! Hoaplong
  7. Congrats to all the winners, and everyone else who braved the "First heat of the year". I want to congatulate Tom Drazy on a job well done. I also want to thank Ken Hicks for his 9 years as Area-4 Director. Enjoy your time to yourself sir!!! A special shout out to Kay and Carina for thier hard fought victories. and Tony Hawkins for his domination of Single Stack. Hopalong
  8. Got home at 1:00 AM, now it is 5:00 AM and I'm headed back out to work. Congrats to Elliot on his A-4 Champion and Annette on her A-4 Lady Champion (I got to watch them on a few stages and they were laying some serious shooting down) I don't know how the rest of the guys fell but I think "Team Bubber" was doing some spanking too. Good to see everyone again and good shooting to all. I myself just got a little lucky this time. HOP
  9. Duane Eggers Annette Aysen Elliot Aysen Roger Davis Bill Durocher Chris Gober John Gober Gregg Kratochvil Roger Reed Sam Keen It'll be fun, just hope I don't try to put moonclips into the grip. I'll predict Elliot on top of the heap on this one since I haven't touched a revolver since the ICORE Southern Regional and won't be a contender. The rest of you guys may whip up on me pretty good too. See Y'all there. HOP
  10. Cuz, I have shot a few M1 rifles, the scout will be fine for your left hand shooting as they generally eject straight out or a little forward. Your eyes are the determining factor for the 18" scout or the 22" std. M1a. I pay my eye doctor to keep mine where I can shoot my 18" and any other iron sighted rifle(or Pistol). The M1a (especially the scout) fits the HM division perfectly and I have shot mine in the LTD division in USPSA with the 20 rounders with what I feel is no disadvantage (I won). Hopalong
  11. Shutzenmeister, Sorry for the delay getting back to you, work and a few other things took me away. To answer your questions. Yes I do 3-gun USPSA and outlaw. I am the match Director of the Mississippi 3-gun challenge (based on Ft.Benning/Horner rules) and have used USPSA rules in the pastfor 3-gun matches.... The reason for using Ft. Benning/ Horner rules is I can challenge my shooters in the stages easier(design) and have rules and scoring that allow me to do so without having to jump through a bunch of hoops to do so. (some things are done so much simpler outside of the sringent rules of USPSA) NOT good, not bad, just the way it is. Answer 2: Yes, I am a 7 year CRO and I also am the Match Director for the Memphis Charity Challenge, a level II USPSA match that recognizes Revolvers ONLY (We had 75 last year, the first one) and we raised $7000.00 for St. Jude Childrens research Hospital. I understand completely your conscern for quality Range officers and your need for them. My statement about NROI insisting on Certified range officers stands. I understand their part(NROI) but just think there are good qualified 3-gunners out there that would do as good a job as the "Certified" ones. Answer 3: I am not able to come and be a part of the cure as I cannot be away from work that long. I am also starting to get really wound up in organizing the MS 3-gun Challenge (October 7-9) and the Memphis Charity CHallenge (November 5/6) and intend to spend most of my free time on them. I still think that allowing the Staff to shoot the match completely only adds to the quality of a match as they then have a vested interest in it, better for everyone !!!! But these are just opinions, (Check my tag line) Good luck with your monumental task. Respectively, Hopalong
  12. For the record. I did NOT have to buy any beers for John. BUT I will gladly get him a few for the AWESOME match he keeps putting together !!!!! COOL drinks on me John. HOP Oh, and Congratulations to my Fiancee Elizabeth Peeler on her High Lady Production title !!! (in only her second Major match)
  13. OR heard from him in a while. He wasn't at the Arkansas section, a match he is regularly seen at ..........................????? HOP
  14. Several years ago I had the drive and desire to push as hard as you. Somewhere in the shuffle that drive and desire has subsided some !!! Hop
  15. Thanks for the "SPR" info. I don't think you'll be dissapointed with the Sabre barrel. HOP
  16. Well, I don't know what SPR is but I do have an 18" Sabre with a Mid length gas system in my Sabre "Competition special" and it shoots better than I do (55 grn LC is sub 1"@ 100 and 77 LC is sub 2 " @ 200). I know several folk with this same barrel, and they are all satisfied. I also went through the factory on a personal grand tour. VERY clean and effecient opperation I was impressed. HOP
  17. I agree with MarkCO, I have worked enough matches to know by experience that only the very best of the best will even be able to vie for just a "Good" match. I also agree that if USPSA NROI was really really smart they would trash the notion of only "Certified" range officers and go out and get some good 3-gunners to be range officers and things will be much better. But I digress, and I also know I'm smoking crack because USPSA doesn't understand 3-gunning enough to know that Pistol trained range officers don't swap over to 3-gun range officers very well. (there are examples that do though). The very main reason the Mississippi 3-gun Challenge is running under the Horner/Benning type scoring and match format. ROs that shoot 3-gun and easy scoring (Thanks LINDA Chico) Hopalong
  18. Hi folks, I've been very busy with work and am actually a bit behind the 8 ball right now. I intend to get the entry form up on here, and the MCC website by June 1. Good luck to all going to the IRC (there will be 2 free entry prizes for the MCC there on the prize table. One on the Open and one on the Limited table) Another note. The Tennessee section match will be the weekend before the MCC, IF you need a little match time you can get it there. Also, the KY state match will be the weekend before the TN match so you can get a little match time there too !!!! Remember the challenge for this year.......................................Bring ONE more shooter !!! Hop
  19. Good warm up for Handgun Nationals !!!! Good warm up for Memphis Charity Challenge !!!!!! Good match to shoot period. Hop
  20. Good match, fun stages, not enough shooters though (yes only 3). at least I got a little practice in for Birmingham (too bad for the rest of you) May or may not attempt this again, we'll see. HOP
  21. Stage 11 is Leagal. The rules state you can't have an all Plate stage. You can and I have seen several ALL Pepper Popper/US Popper stages (even at the Nationals). HOP Gonna be fun.
  22. We put a barrel ontop of a barrel one side or the other, just offcenter enough so there will be no plates that are not "shootable". Pretty mean setup. Today we shot it through a 4 foot high port. Not nice to tall folk, or short folk at four feet to the top. Plenty of brass on the ground. the hardest so far is shooting it at 25 yds. Hop
  23. Gonna be a great day for a rifle match. Come on over and shoot with us, and get ready for the Steel City Tactical Rifle Championship in a few weeks. Hop (First shot 12:00 sharp)
