  1. Well that building was 2 feet from getting wet !!!! Hop
  2. Just in case anyone was wondering. The rain last weekend brought around 5 feet of water to the range for a few days. We did not sustain any major damage to the action pistol range, but the main range and all out buildings were flooded to a certain extent. The range has been closed for cleanup for now and no pistol shooting will happen for a little while. The range will be doing berm repair and drainage work once it dries out enough for that. You'll get to shoot on a "Different" range compared to last year. See Y'all in November. Hopalong
  3. Title says it all. IF you have an idea and would like to submit it for use please send it on.(We may modify it to fit the bays or make it a little more challenging!!! Hopalong
  4. YEP, With the Steel City Carbine match a little later this month this will be a good time to get a little extra trigger time in before Birmingham that is for sure !!!! Got some not hard but not easy stages for you folk to plink at !!! HOP
  5. OK John, Since your little stage isn't a challenge enough for such a HIGH QUALITY match I think you need to take the box "A" out to 50 yds !!!! How's that ? Hopalong
  6. Weatherman changed his tune. 70%+ chance of rain and THUNDERSTORMS................with rain totals 4-6 inches. Schedule change again.............. May 8 (Saturday) 12:00..........after the Hi-Power match. Hopalong
  7. Elizabeth and I are shooting Production this year. Matt B. will be attending. Bill Baldock won't be an A anymore by then !!! I'll see Ya'll there. Have fun. Hopalong
  8. Hey John, Since Area - 4 is just the week after MS classic, how about on that shoot 1 on each reload 1 on each out of the boxes put the freestyle box at 50 yards ???? the strong hand at 30 and the weak hand at 20 ???? Hopalong
  9. Hey John, How about a rundown of shooters by division ? A mans gotta know, you know? Hop looking forward to it.
  10. Well we made it pretty well. Only had 1 wall knocked down and had 27 shooters show up Sunday for the steel pistol match with shotgun sidematch. Don't get confused on the round count. I myself will bring 200 rounds to cover my missing since I'll be using Irons for the first time in 3 years !!! Chad, your Christmas present looks good on my rifle. !!! See you next Sunday, Hoplaong
  11. Forrest and Peter, First of all welcome to the forums and Revolver shooting in particular. Next question. Where are you in relation to the rest of the world. (where do you shoot?) and now to answer your question (Maybe) Like Bubber said. It is all a matter of hitting A zone(USPSA), -0(IDPA), or A-ring/X-ring(ICORE) as effeciently and fast as possible. there isn't much difference between the shooting, it is how you're allowed to tackle the stages is the biggest difference. (I'll leave that alone as it gets into the political/ this type shooting vs that type that isn't allowed on the forums). What you need to learn is to pick a spot on the target and shoot at that spot instead of an area of the target. That to me is the best and simplest advice I can give you. IF you want to get into a large pile of revolvers in one spot you can go the the IRC in JUNE (ICORE NATIONALS) or the Memphis Charity Challenge in November (USPSA match) or the IDPA Nationals. Those 3 matches are the biggest congregation of revolvers in their respective disciplines. (The cheapest to attend the the MEMPHIS CHARITY CHALLENGE). If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Lots of good help around here. Hopalong
  12. Gary, Hang in there. At least you are still able to shoot some type of hand gun. I have a friend who loves shooting pistols but can't due to loss of feeling in his hands, now he is down to shooting benchrest. It cures his shooting "Itch" but he misses his handgun shooting. Hop
  13. get your hair dryer out, heat it just a little and make them "grip" the comp IIIs better. HOP
  14. OK, Lets try the third time. Lets move this to next Sunday the 2nd of May. First shot at 12:00 as I don't expect 100 people to show up ! 5 stages 80-90 shots if you use the one shot to neutralize. 2 stages of pure steel. One day we will hit the weather good. Hop
  15. Weather NOT looking good. calling for rain, with some severe Thunderstorms for Saturday afternoon. HOP
  16. Yes Chris you MIGHT have some revos for A-4 (5 signed up already) Gregg will be 6 Elliot and Annette will be 7 and 8 and I might show up if I can get it arranged through work. You will NOT be able to shoot that contraption in your avatar though !!! HOP
  17. I was out shooting with the wife to be !!!! Don't worry, you can get a crack at me at the Memphis Charity Challenge. You will just need to borrow that 625 back for the weekend. HOP
  18. Good job Gregg !!!! Now sign up for Area - 4 Hop
  19. Looking good for Saturday, we'll have 5 stages with about 90 rounds to complete if you take the one shot to neutralize option !!! longest shot 270 ish. (on steel so bring extra ammo) First shot 9:00 sign in starting around 8:00 HOP
  20. I have one suggestion. trade the 44 mag for a 41 mag and go have fun. It will do the job of the 44 just fine and won't beat you up !!! Hopalong (I deer hunt with my 41 mag, almost exclusively)
  21. So Corey, Like I asked before..... When you gonna quit goofing off and start shooting ????? You did ok at A-6, keep up the somewhat good work !!!! Hop
  22. Hello and "howdy" from Tennessee. I have some info for you. the 2010 MCC will ba a 1 day match like last year. The First Saturday of November. Like last year it will be open to all shooters (we had 1 production shooter last year) but only Revolver division will be recognized. Like last year we will recognize speedloaders and the current champion "Otis" has said he'd be back to defend his title. Unlike last year we will be doing the prize table different. We will go by order of finish, and then a random draw. IF you win something by order of finish you will NOT win anything by random draw, and vise-versa. I have been covered up by work, but I see a break in the future. Trophies from last year are not finished but we're working on that problem. In the near future I'll be sending a new entry form to my website guy to have him post it. IF you want to go ahead and send an entry in before then, just use last years entry form. IF you would like to submit a stage please e-mail or PM me from these forums for now. We are going to do 10 stages again. IF you remember the challenge for this year is for those who attended is to "Bring one more". IF you guys/gals do that we'll have 150 shooters. I really don't expect that, but I'm looking for 100 since I got it off the Halloween weekend and many of you will "Bring one more". The poll says to bring the Polish Plate rack back so expect to see it again. THanks for looking, and looking forward to another great match. Hopalong
  23. Johnny is a true gentleman. PERIOD I've had the pleasure of knowing him since 2001. A genuine person and humble to say the least. Why is he not a PRO some ask ? I can't answer that, but I'll ask a question back. Why aren't all the other GMs in the other divisions Pros ???? I can say this, if you find a better, kinder man you're lucky indeed. Hopalong
