  4. Carina, Coming very soon. Until then practice up with the new 3-gun gear your collecting. You need to be able to hit anything 4MOA out to 300 yds or so with the rifle.(12 inches at 300) HOP Oh By the way. EXCELLENT shooting at A-4 !
  5. Hopalongs Major load for 646 6 inch barrel !!!! 180 grn Precision Delta FMJRN 4.9 grn V.V. N320 Federal Small Primers mixed brass OAL 1.150 minimal crimp (just enough to keep the bullets from backing out during recoil). Have fun, always start at a lower powder weight and work up. Josh good luck at A-7, wish I was going again. HOP
  6. I talked to JD and he said they are up to 90 shooters with more coming in. Gonna be fun. Sam
  7. So if you want seeable and hittable targets come on down to the MS 3-gun Challenge and see what Trapr has set up for you to see and hit !!!!!! It is simple and easy to set up challenging stages. Challenge a skill set. not the ability to find a target out of the maze of trees ect. Or hit that 3 inch rectagular target at 45 yds with buckshot, or hit that 6 inch plate at 375 yds with your m1a and Iron sights -------oh did i mention it wasn't painted either ???? Come to Mississippi in October, you'll be able to see your targets, hitting them is your challenge, but they will not be HARD to hit. THE GOOD SHOOTERS WILL ALWAYS BE ON TOP. They do easy things really good, and hard things good. DON'T WORRY ABOUT THEM. Make your stages fun and doable to the c class shooters (IN USPSA) and you'll have many return shooters the next year. Last year at the MS 3-gun match I had one stage that you shot rifle across a lake to some MGM flashers (that were donated by MGM btw THanks MIKE and Travis) and I had a 180 second limit on the stage. One squad did not understand that and let the shooters shoot overtime (on the Friday part of the shoot) so when I found that out I talked to the RM (Kurt Miller) and told him that since it was shot that way and others had been penalized for going to the 180 and then stopped it was not a fair stage and would have to toss it out. I did not toss it out until the match was over, and every one got to shoot the stage. I heard many thank yous for letting them shoot the stage even though it did not score as it was so much fun. Build your stages to challenge the shooter but not penalize them. Make them doable and fun in some kind of way. You will not level the playing field. It is not possible. Unless you have a motor Grader and rakes !!! HOP

Title tells all !!!! Happy Birthday !!! Hop
  9. all the way from Tennessee !!! Seems like they had around 100 shooters last year. I hope to see as many this year. I have noticed something though. Less Major ICORE matches than in the past. ????? See some of you in MI. Who else is going ? Hopalong
  10. Josh, I've got a load with Vihta Vouri N320 I use in Elizabeths and My 646 over 180 grn Precision Delta bullets that is really clean and shoots very good. I'll dig it up and send it. HOP
  11. Way to go matt !!!! With your A-5 championship you have now qualified to come to the Memphis Chairty Challenge and represent as an Area Champion. Along with Jerry Miculek and Sam Keen the A-6 winner and the A-4 winner respectively. We now have to see who will come out on top at A-1 (15 revo shooters there) A-2 not sure, the revo attendance has fell there. A-3 as of now less than 10. A-7 (Lentz territory, and not many wheels shooting yet) and A-8 (again Lentz territory, and only 3 listed as of now) Your shooting has improved dramaticly, just shows what dry fire will do. Well done. See you in KY, and TN for those state matches. HOP
  12. Still not too hard to find the 6 inch barrels, kind of tough to find the 6 1/2 though. IF you want to replace it and have trouble finding one of the original type. you might try to find a 5" 625 barrel too. Several of the 25-2 models had a little too big of a cylinder opening and they were just not that accurate, I don't recall which ones but it seems to be some of the the 6 inch guns. Not much you can do about that besides a new cylinder (use the old star to keep the same timing) Most will shoot decent enough for USPSA as it's not bullseye or ICORE with accuracy being the premium. You have the frame, that is the big thing. HOPalong
  13. Deltagunshop.com (Washington or Oregon) Allen is the guy who did the work. Seems like it was $150 shipping included. Still No pics though. HOP
  14. The Polish plate rack, just like any other "Moving" type target is more of a "Get you out of your comfort level" target than any other thing. It does the same for everyone IF they shoot it the same as the prior shooter. HOW the next shooter attempts it and how he hit it is just like shooting a US popper or Pepper popper or any other reaction target. HIT the plates in the center and they will do the same for me as you as long as you are shooting the same PF as I am. (all production shoots minor so it is the same for them) SSTK shooters CHOOSE thier powerfactor so just deal with it. Some people get sensory overload when they come up on targets like this, some don't. IT is that simple. OH, and having the ONLY Plish Plate rack on the east side of the Mississippi River I've heard MANY comments. Some like it some don't (WAY MORE that do than don't). Has it paid itself off in less than a year ? YOU BET, IT also helped raise $7000.00 for St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital. OH, and if you think it is a challenge with a single stack, try a 6 shot revolver. (I cleaned it without it moving the first time I ever saw it, last year at A-1) Hopalong
  15. Are you kidding ???? Kurt had it all winter. When I sent it home with him the sight was fine. Now that I got it back it isn't.....................HMMMMM maybe he doesn't want me kicking his A$$ with it !!!!!! I actually talked to him the day before I found the "Trouble". This weekend at Birmingham everything kept going right even after I clicked left a few extra clicks so I think this is a new problem. Thanks guys. Oh and Kelly, I know it is a small match but Maybe you can make the MS 3-gun challenge October 9,10 in Corinth Mississippi And anyone else that might be interested. HOP
  16. Kelly, The sight cover and the peep itself all wiggle. I don't know when it started as I've been playing .223 for the last few years until very recently. It all stays where it is supposed to be, but has "wiggle" in it. I'm shooting it in the Birmingham rifle match this weekend and won't mess with it until afterwards. I'll then let you know what I find. Thanks all. HOP
  17. Optics are for beginners or blind folk !!! Hop
  18. Nice work Corey. Just gotta overcome those "KEENS"...........maybe one day, with a little help............ HOP
  19. Javier, You can use it anytime you want. HOP
  20. It just wiggles in place. NOT much but just enough to bother me. The tension on the windage and elevation knobs is fine. Any ideas to get rid of the slop ? HOP
  21. I had been thinking for a while about how I like shooting my 646 (I have short fingers and the L frame is just a little easier for me to manipulate) but didn't particularly like the 4 inch barrel. So during the winter time I purchased a 686 6" barrel had it rebored out to 40 and installed on it. I did not get to play with it at all during the winter as my fiancee Elizabeth wanted to shoot it at ICORE Southern Regional so we set it up for her and I played in SSTK and Production all winter. Elizabeth talked me into going to Area-4 (I had not planned on going) so the Monday before A-4 I get it out of the safe and go to the range with some reloads to test. IT shoots better than I do (accuracy wise) and even though my bullets I use in 40 are not perfectly round Round nose they are the next best thing to it. My reloads were acceptable for not shooting a revo since the SOUTHERN REGIONAL ICORE match. Recoil shooting minor is SWEET. Recoil shooting Major is a snappier, faster feeling recoil over the 25 and 625. I did not like shooting Major in it at all before I had it rebarreled. now I don't think it is much different than the N frames except the snappy feeling vs. the shove feeling the N frames have. I put a front sight on it made by Warren (Toolguy)(He put a nice crown on the barrel too) and a Millet rear. I do all my own action work and chamfered the cylinders myself too. I put a Miculek grip on it as that is what I'm used to and went to A-4 more to try it out in a major match than anything. I never had a single sticky cylinder/brass issue as I used Nickel plated but I don't think that will be an issue anyway (I used brass when testing and loading to make my match ammo), and I never had to run a brush through the cylinder during the match to clean it either. (I used Precision Delta 180 grn fmj bullets 4.9 grns Vita Vori N320 and Federal Small Pistol loaded to 1.150 length. I really like this little revo, if anybody has one laying around they'd sell me for a couple hundred dollars I'll do it again. (so Elizabeth can have one again) Hopalong
  22. Application coming soon here. Price is as last year $125 Stephan, give it your best shot!!! See a bunch of you this weekend in Birmingham. HOP
