  1. That doesn't sound right. It's legal to retain anywhere on your body. Mag holder, pockets, belt or your sock if you please. Just can't be retained in your hand.
  2. Where did you read this? I did not find a mention of a "non-competitive class" in the 2013 rule book under 8.2. 8.2.7. Not For Competition 8.2.7.1. IDPA encourages shooters to practice their gun handling skills with commonly carried firearms. Many everyday carry firearms do not fit into the 5 competition divisions. 8.2.7.2. IDPA allows clubs to add a Not for Competition scoring division for Tier 1 matches only. This allows calibers smaller than 9mm, carry optics, and other pistols which do not fit into the 5 competition divisions to participate in local club matches. 8.2.7.3. All other IDPA equipment rules apply for holsters and loading device holders as well as their placement on the body. Match Directors also have the option to allow junior shooters with .22 rimfire firearms to begin strings at low ready in lieu of requiring a holster. 8.2.7.4. All IDPA membership rules apply. 8.2.7.5. Clubs are not required to implement this provision, and Match Directors are allowed discretion with implementation so that match quality remains high.
  3. Maybe it's a principal thing. I don't see it. Why all the fuss over printing up your own rulebook? With today's technology, you can pull it up on your smartphone or have it stored on your tablet.
  4. Just get the Edge for USPSA Limited. You can still use it in IDPA where MDs permit the new Non-Competition (outlaw) division. You'll be limited (no pun intended) to local level I matches tho.
  5. My local club started running by the new rulebook last week. Definitely not feeling the reload rule. Haven't noticed any difference in the cover calls but I already ate a PE for reloading while advancing behind cover.
  6. Sweet. Loving the rules for the new 'Non-Comp' class. Great for shits and giggles with an SD gun that may not otherwise fit in any of the other divisions. May be mistaken, but I think a 4" sight tracker with RDS would fit in the new class.
  7. Maybe I'm mistaken, but it would appear that most of these arguments for overlays (something that will probably never be allowed anyways ) aren't for the shooters benefit, but to prevent the competitor any unnecessary advantage. If its so close that it requires an overlay, it's already going to go in the shooter's favor. Why are we still beating this horse? Is venting about it going to change anything? It would appear most have already voiced our opinions prior to the finalization of the new rulebook. For one reason or another the BOD isn't budging on this.
  8. I hadn't given this much thought until last weekend. Another shooter commented that his holes were smaller than another competitor's but the same as mine. The other 2 shooters were wielding .45s and I was using my 9 at the time. Turns out the shooter that made the observation was enlightened by the other shooter using LSWC as opposed to his RN. His .45 RN looked to be the size of my 9mm SWC.
  9. Tri-topping would remove more material than the snake belly treatment and it's still considered legal. I also don't see anything wrong with your panel cuts as they appear to be cosmetic. But as jcc noted, ask your SO. I'm not much of a fan of slide serrations either.
  10. I find that if you're dumb enough to not case gauge your reloads, you have a higher chance of needing that 3rd mag. Ask me how I know.....
  11. So I take it you don't shoot with Glock or S&W shooters? Not to defend pinning a GS, since its illegal anyways, but atleast the 1911/2011 still utilizes a TS.
  12. Would that include the cost of new mags?
  13. If the obvious is readily apparent, why go through all of this frustration? Unless you assembled this build yourself, your builder should have refused this build based on the barrel alone. Getting a 9mm to run reliably isn't rocket science, but handicapping yourself doesn't help. =\
  14. What # spring are you running? Sounds like you might be a tad heavy. Running 9mm you should be in the 11-12# range.
  15. No notice, but I received the second order placed on 3/25 of misc. goodies in today. Still waiting on dies. From the sounds of it, I may have about another 3-4 weeks to go.
  16. If you do get the Brazos' he normally will offer tuned mags at a discount of $100 per instead of $150.
  17. Yup. Just bring along 3 mags and you're good to go. Hell, even 2 mags would be ok unless you have malfunctions. Take your time (easier said than done) and listen to your SO. Safe shooting!
  18. Maybe describe exactly what is happening? You getting stovepipes or is your spent brass jamming the slide? You may have found your problem. Replace your ejector with the extra long that it probably had. See if that does it.
