Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. During the match people honestly do not understand that the actual diameter is larger than the hole you see. Also because overlays are verboten they have no way to learn this. If I call for my bullet hole to be examined there is no way to point this out and not use an overlay.
  2. I shot an IDPA match the other day and noticed that during the scoring they were only looking at the marks on the paper from the hole and grease ring. Several times the hole was close enough that if an overlay was used the shooter would have received a better score. It seems like since IDPA does not allow an overlay, most shooters do not realize that FMJ bullets leave a much smaller hole than the actual caliber. This seems kind of strange as it would have you believe that the most effective bullet is a wad-cutter?
  3. Is the format going to be the same as the match in March (Sitrep RedRain). That match was all blind stages where no one got a chance to see the stage beforehand?
  4. Guys, I have recently moved to the Fort Worth area and live in Keller out by the Cabelas I was wondering if anybody knew where the good local matches are. I am also looking for a club to help with and a place to practice. Any ideas? Thanks, Mark Johnson
  5. I have a red Safariland 012 for sale in the classifieds section if you are interested I could email pictures.

    Sights?

I have the sevigny rear sight and a .90 fornt fiber optic and love the sight picture it allows.
  7. I have been using a chopped down uncle mikes kydex holster and really enjoy not having much money in it. The front has been cut down so that there is only about 1" left connecting the front and the back was trimmed to fit flush with the trigger gaurd. I also added some rivets in the mount to make it a little sturdier. I don't have over $20 bucks in it and it is definetly not holding me back.
  8. I would strongly recommend Tru-grip from Eric. it is much better than stippling!
  9. I would be interested in seeing apicture too!
  10. Does anyone have a 3 gun scoresheet in word or pdf. I need something using the International 3 gun rules. I am not sure if I have ever seen one. Thanks
  11. What is a good race holster for IPSC. I have been using a modified Uncle Mikes with my model 20, and was wondering what else is available.
  12. I have a Glock 20 that has a Fed arms 40 barrel. It also has a tungsten guide rod and a 15lb spring. At the last match it seemed I was waiting on the slide when shooting some fast hoser targets. I would like to speed up the slide and am wondering about trying lighter recoil springs. On another note what about using a 20C slide? What weight of spring can I use and still be reliable?
  13. Well shot a match today and had no light strikes. I ended up putting back in the stock/polished FP safety plunger. It made the pull a little worse but I think that the less rounded edge is getting the plunger out of the way much better. I also switched to small pistol primers. Seems like these 2 things have done the trick!
