  1. I could give a fuzzy crap about overlays. It's the damn PE's I'm eating for taking a damn step when I reload that's killing me! It's hard not to swear as soon my foot moves forward before I can stop it because I can see the SO's damn index finger rising in my peripheral!
  2. Talk to Jim and he'll be sure to get you the right feel. If it's too much bite for you, you can always knock it down with some sandpaper. The grip he did for me came out better than I could have imagined. What I had envisioned and what he provided were not the same. Needless to say, his expertise was the difference between what I WANTED and what I NEEDED. You won't be disappointed.
  3. With the patent expired on the frame, all of that is changing. While STI will probably remain the largest piece of the pie, others are starting to crop up.
  4. If my wife tried to control my firearm purchases, there would be another kind of upgrade happening. Divorce rarely favors the man. Thankfully my wife doesn't have an issue with me growing my collection. Just as long they get some use. And I'm ok with that.
  5. I had the same problem. Luckily the vendor I used still had a few older style left, just in a color I didn't prefer. The single stack still seem to be quick release though.
  6. Carry cuts aren't much different than high power cuts and are considered aesthetic. IDPA legal 2011 built by Gans Guns.
  7. Looks to be a traditional round top slide with no front cocking serrations. I'd wager that it doesn't weigh any less than a tri-top slide with carry cuts. Hence, no mechanical advantage.
  8. The slide lightening options you stated are considered aesthetics by the IDPA. Correct me if I'm mistaken but the Glock G34 has a huge hunk of metal milled out on top. Under normal circumstances, that would be considered slide lightening. But because it leaves the factory in that state, it's stock and legal. I'd be interested to see what the actual weight is from the S&W PC slide. It may still be heavier than a tri-topped 1911 slide with serrations.
  9. The only shooter in my club that shoots ESP in .40 does so in a single stack. To my knowledge, the rest of the ESP shooters are 9mm. On average, we have 30 shooters on the night I shoot. A vast majority of them are 9mm shooters. We have about 5 CDP shooters and then there's 1-2 that shoot .40 in SSP.
  10. Just how much USPSA are you really going to be shooting? If you're looking to be competitive in both games, then the .40 is your best bet. If you're looking to primarily shoot IDPA with only USPSA on occasion, then 9mm will save you money.
  11. This horse has been pounded into glue. No one is forcing others to spend time and money on a sport they don't enjoy. When you sign up for an IDPA match, you agree to the rules. If you dislike the rules that much, play another game. Why be frustrated playing a game you don't agree with?
  12. it wasnt a reversable plug. it was a standard plug for a bushing gun but arent the guide rods the same? When i ordered it it said it would fit all 2011 guns but i guess it was talking bushing 2011s. Yeah, you got the wrong set. There's one for bushing and one for bull barrels. That's why the plug doesn't work.
  13. I'm not an SO, but I'd say that Baer is a "hit". The only shot that looks remotely close to being questionable (meaning you get the better score) would be the body/head shot. I'm not an SO, but since I had to take a closer look, I would assume you got the -0.
  14. Yours is the newer 2013 model. STI has gone back and reduced the rollmarks on several models.
  15. I prefer using the overhand method using my left hand to slingshot the slide.
  16. If you are hell bent on using the grip tape, you'll probably have to sand the checkering down to make a suitable surface. I opted to send my grip to get it stippled. It was recontured and double undercut for a higher grip.
  17. My search found that hey use the Para P14 mag.
  18. Many of STIs models got reduced rollmarks for 2013, the Edge included. Mechanically there is no difference.
  19. Never had a hiccup with reloads in my Kimber using Kimber Tac Mags.
  20. But w/o Mountain Dew you'll dehydrate from the cardio! Better off 'fixing' that scale that that you're 10lbs lighter. It's a win win.
  21. Kinda ghetto, but I didn't want to mar my finish with a screwdriver. So I used a Gatorade cap to pry it off once I was able to wiggle enough room.
  22. Huh. That's odd that it would be specific to the upper pockets. Thanks for the clarification.
