  1. I haven't had a front screw in my guns in over 2 years.
  2. I can tell you this much. ALL the guys on the team are shooting tungsten and we get to choose what we shoot. There is a substantial improvement IMO with the tungsten sleeved guns. My slide on my shorty weighs a little over 8oz The barrel with Titanium comp weighs over 10 oz. If you are going to nats you can shoot mine this weekend.
  3. You can make GM with a Glock 17. Rarely is it the gun that holds someone back
  4. I have used the SV grip and the EVO. I have fondled the Cheely extensively. SV: feels smaller to me. Two piece grip which breaks frequently. ( I broke 2 and know of many more) "Feels" the best int he hand for me. Hate the teardrop mag catch. Would frequently drop a mag when shooting WHO I stuck more mags on reloads with the SV because of the unique angle Proprietary mag well and mag catch Very difficult to fit to a non sv gun Evo: Much stronger than SV ( last I talked to PT they have never had a SS grip break) If you want to use the included grip safety it requires extensive blending. Not a big deal on new guns but on a retrofit will require a refinish Most aggressive grip by far Dropped right on my PT frames, L10 frames and newer STI frames Lots of fitting on older STI frame can use any mag catch or magwell Cheely: Only have held the cheely so no real world experience. Feels a little smaller than PT but bigger than the SV One piece so should be strong Didn't care for the grip texture Proprietary parts IMO the PT is still the best overall grip by a pretty substantial margin. I think the Cheely will come in second based on initial impressions The weird angle and the breakage prone SV is a far distant third to me.
  5. I checked 50 powder drops last night on my EVO. Loading 4.4 of HP38 in 9 minor. 42 @ 4.4 8 @ 4.3 All well within the margin of error of my scale
  6. I had a JP. I now have 2 MPXs. The biggest problem people have with MPXs is they think they are ar9s. You can shoot 150 pf ammo through an MPX and it is softer than 125 pf through a JP.
  7. What are your questions? I will do my best to answer them or get you answers.
  8. Accessories are really not needed with the Evo. Spare parts and upgrade features are easily had. Customer support has always been excellent in the few times I have need to call. Were they overwhelmed with initial orders on the Evo? Hell yeah They brought something to market that far surpasses anything else available and even they were surprised by the numbers. They are more than sound financially sound and are constantly expanding and have new things in design right now.
  9. You said... The fact is MOST are capable of cocked and locked. We have a rule that prevents them from starting that way or most probably would. Cocked and locked is the same on a 1911/CZ/Tangfo/Etc Yes, your argument is incorrect and your word... "stupid"
  10. 165s re much better out of a 6" gun than 180s for me. That said, PT EVO all the way. I an't never going back to plastic.
  11. Very possible. He did this one a while back. I think the biggest difference is he is working with mostly factory parts whereas GG re engineered them.
  12. The GG is lighter and has a better break and reset, and less overtravel. It is right about 2.5lbs depending on where you put the scale on the trigger. The Burke gun is a little ove 4 lbs in the same spot.
  13. I have two X5s. One with the GG comp trigger I did myself and another with a Burke trigger job. The GG trigger is much much much better. Maybe more that 3 "muchs". It's not even close.
  14. Not legal to do that. Can't pre declare a "forbidden action" based on opinion. Under what rule would he DQ a shooter who left the shooting area? There is no such thing as a "ffz" in USPSA
  15. The way SSI does them they mimic the size of a 2011 grip. I have seen a couple of the DYI jobs and they get the weight but they are the size of a 2x4. I have seen them done. There is nothing easy about doing it right.
  16. There is more to these than gluing tungsten to a grip module.
  17. taking the front sight off is a big help when using the R1. The dot is much better than the DPP I was using. No comparison. The DPP is also significantly heavier before you add the adapter plate and the last thing you want to do is add reciprocating weight to a slide. The DPP with adapter plate is right at 2.49 oz vs 0.7 oz with the R1.
  18. Sure there are. We just don't allow them to start that way. Actually, most production guns are capable of cocked and locked.
  19. people saying draws don't matter are incorrect. Most of the top guys will always draw well under second to a 7 yd target in matches. My normal draw to that is about an .80. Being an M or GM is about doing everything faster. Stop limiting yourself by saying "I don't need to get better at this" In a hypothetical with 10 stages in a match. If I hit .80 on every draw and you draw at 1.5 because that is all you "need" at the end of the day I am 7 seconds faster on the match than you, all other things being equal. If you want to win, it all matters. Draws, splits, transitions, entries, exits, reloads. Perfect it all.
  20. It is far more advantageous to learn to load to a 170. There hasn't been a major this year that I haven't loaded to a big stick at least once. It really changes your options on where to reload and in many cases your actual stage plan. What if the BEST stage plan is to shoot two or three targets off the start and then reload on a 32 round stage. Practice reloading to a 170 and don't worry about 155s.
  21. I super glued a rare earth magnet to the inside lid of my little tool kit I carry in my range bag. I have about 10 pre bent paper clips stuck there. I have always like the idea of the dawson guide rod but the experienced me says it's just one more thing to cause issues so I don't use them.
  22. Someone (Blake Liles I think) had one crap out on him at A4. The search for a durable dot goes on...
  23. How much did the grip weigh before? A bare X5 grip is like 5.5 oz
  24. Problem with the Romeo 3 is that it's too damn heavy. You are adding reciprocating weight to the slide.
