  1. Yeah, I appreciate the chance to buy one of these without having to go through GB for it. Can't wait to see how I like it compared to the CZ Shadows.
  2. The Boss hangar is great. But I prefer the Black Ice version of the Bladetech holster - rather than the standard OWB version sold by Ben's pro shop.
  3. If you want to get serious about Limited, get a 2011 or maybe something like a CZ TS. There is a reason most of the top limited shooters choose those guns. And it's not because they are eager to spend money. Those heavier guns with their fantastic triggers make a difference. It may very well be "The Indian and not the arrow." But give the Indian better arrows and he'll shoot better with them.
  4. The durability would be a major concern. I had a set of those TFO Truglos on a Glock once. The front "fiber" just popped out one while I was shooting. The more I think about it, it might be best just to go with a standard version of the Sphinx and try changing out to a CZ front sight.
  5. After picking up a Sphinx last weekend at a gun store, I've been thinking pretty strongly about buying one. I see a model with H.A.L.O. sights - though I haven't seen it in person. Any of you folks have one? Or have shot one? The gun is about $200 more than the standard model, and I'm really wondering if it's worth the extra cost. The sights are made by these guys: http://www.defiance-ops.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=90&Itemid=335
  6. Tried the Ghosts (which I love, in theory), but couldn't get comfortable with the bullets-out style. Switched to the Racers, which I prefer as a standard style pouch.
  7. Does it require the federal match grade primers or do the standard blue box primers work? Yeah, the regular old Federal primers are fine.
  8. 1) AccuShadow from CZ Custom. DA 5.5lbs/SA 2.25lbs. Competition trigger job from CZC, but added the 8.5 lb hammer spring and trigger return spring from Cajun. 2) Shadow target. DA 6lbs/SA 2.25 lbs. Trigger job by Cajun Gun Works, with its trigger return spring, 8.5lb hammer spring. Both guns require Federal primers for reliable ignition.
  9. I used the flat points out to 1.15, but I did have the barrels on my CZs throated.
  10. I recently made the switch from the 1911 platform to the CZ Shadow. It may be blasphemous to say this, but I actually prefer (just slightly) the single action trigger on my Shadows over my 1911 triggers. The only trick is getting used to the DA/SA thing. And all that takes is some practice - both live and dry fire. I made the switch at the end of October. The first month or two were a little strange. But at this point, I don't even think about it any more.
  11. CR Speed belt, double alpha Racer pouches, boss hangar with Bladetech Black Ice holster.
  12. Love adjustable sights. My main gun is an Accu Shadow with LPA sights. Backup gun is a Shadow Target with internal work done by CGW. I give a slight edge to the CZC gun. But they are very close. Close enough that if I'm not paying close enough attention, I can't tell which one I've picked up.
  13. Recently changed my system after my lead level hit 21. Doc kind of freaked out a little. About 5 months ago, I changed to a system where I wash the brass to get the dust off. 1. In the garage, I put brass in tumbler with dry media. (wearing mask) 2. Remove brass and wash in water. 3. Put brass in glorified food dehydrator sold as CED brass dryer. 4. Once dried, I move the brass into my reloading room, where it gets lubed before use. It seems to be working. Lead level has fallen to 14 and my doctor isn't as freaked out.
  14. I've used WST for all 3. I like it better in .40 and .45. But I thought it worked OK in 9mm as well. Makes for loads with soft recoil.
  15. I carry 6 mag pouches because: Why not? I just switched from Limited a few months back - and I carried 3 mags in pouches, for 60 rounds. So it just feels right to do the same thing with production. Any mag in a pouch gets 10 rounds. I'll put one with 11 rounds in my pocket - and that is always my make-ready mag. I don't expect to use the 5th or 6th mag. But even before I moved to production, I'd watch shooters lose a mag while running. Or deal with with a malfunction. Or fumble reload into the ground. I don't ever want to get to a point in the stage where I run out of bullets. So I'm willing to carry that slight bit of extra weight to make sure it doesn't happen. And as I said - I just switched from limited. So my rig is still lighter than it use to be.
  16. I feel the same way. After both of my CZs were declared illegal for IDPA, I said I'd never buy another gun for this game. But as luck would have it, the custom CZ P01 that I got to carry will work in this division. So that's what I'll shoot. I don't expect to be competitive with our top shooters using their ESP and SSP guns. But I'll still have fun.
  17. Similar to what I use, though I load out to 1.14 with 147 gr. SNS Bullets. When I ordered my AccuShadow, I sent Stuart a couple dummy bullets matching those that I shoot so that they could adjust the barrel/chamber to make sure they'd work. I switched to the 8.5lb mainspring from CGW. Using Federal primers, I did have a couple light primer strikes early on. So I also switched to the extended firing pin from CGW, which I'd read was just a slight bit longer than the one sold by CZ Custom. Fired another 1,200 rounds after switching firing pins, and haven't had any more light strikes.
  18. And so it is the width that's affected: From the rules released today: The firearm with the largest magazine inserted must fit in the IDPA gun test box measuring 8¾” x 6” x 1 3/8” The standard dimensions are 8 ¾” x 6” x 1 5/8”
  19. My vote for the CCP Gamer Gun: Just to be sure, I put 1/4" plywood on the bottom of the an IDPA box. It fits (width-wise) with more than 1/16" to spare when the lid is closed.
  20. That's what I've been wondering. What are they trying to exclude? I thought it might be something like the CZ P01, but it looks like that will make it in with a 1/4" piece of plywood inside - because, as someone pointed out earlier, 1/4" plywood isn't actually quite that thick. Maybe it's designed to exclude wider magwells.
  21. With enough live and dry fire, that double action first pull just fades away as anything to worry about.
  22. You may be in the minority here in this thread. But I suspect you would not be in the minority when it comes to the typical IDPA shooter. I'm no defender of IDPA. I lost most of my respect for the organization watching the way they handled their rule changes/interpretations over the past year. But I'll admit this new division will give me something to try out at the few local matches I do shoot this year.
  23. This will be interesting regarding the CZ P01. The box, minus 1/4", should come out at 1.375" According to CZUSA, the P01 is 1.38" wide. ESP does allow for "carry melt treatments." So maybe it will be possible to melt away .005" to make a P01 fit the box.
  24. I like the idea. Sure these guns could shoot in other divisions - but they aren't really competitive in those divisions. We can talk about it being "the indian and not the arrow," but there is a reason the top shooters use full size guns with 5" or longer barrels. So now we have a division at monthly matches where people can use more realistic carry guns against other shooters with the same handicap - barrel length, etc. And yes, of course, we know that some people use full size 1911s, 2011s and Glock 34s as their carry guns. But they are the exception, rather than the rule. Personally, I'll be planning to shoot a CZP01 (assuming it isn't outlawed somehow) which will also be my daily carry gun.
