  1. Interesting. Not sure I've seen anything like that.
  2. I was wondering about that. I've never really noticed a problem with stainless guns - in terms of glare - as long as the top is more of a matte finish. I've been thinking about a black frame with maybe a Socom blue or titanium blue top for one of mine. But maybe I should reverse it put the blue on the frame. So many choices.
  3. I know I'm going to use some combo involving one of blue colors for one of my guns. Just not sure about the second gun. Part of me thinks that if I'm going to the trouble to do this, the gun should look different than what I can get from the factory.
  4. Found the link. http://nicindustries.com/guncoater.php They don't have all the colors. I think bronze is one that's not there.
  5. Hey, I'm in the same boat. I just dropped one of my Shadows off with a guy for cerakoting. I was going to go tactical black, but now I'm having second thoughts. I don't have the link handy, but I came across one site that lets you see what a gun looks like with various finished. You can mix and match the slide and frame. That bronze actually looks pretty cool. I briefly considered with a white gun - but I'm betting I'd hate it after a short while.
  6. I haven't used the frags, but they don't look as aggressive as the tactical diamonds. With the tactical diamonds, I wasn't looking as much for comfort as I was for a sure-handed grip. They aren't uncomfortable, by any means. But between the grips and the grip tape on the gun, it pretty much stays put during shooting.
  7. My shadow is pretty much the twin of yours. Same grips, grip tape on the front strap, and about the same round count. Creepy. Nice pistols! No doubt. I was shooting a Glock 17 until I found the Shadow. I just love the thing. Just going by my own personal experiences with the two guns, the CZ has been the more reliable firearm.
  8. My twin Shadows. The black one has about 4k rounds through it. Just added its two-tone brother.
  9. Thought I'd add a photo. I'm not so thrilled with the color of the grips on the two-tone Shadow. But I love the grips on the black Shadow.
  10. Thanks for the thoughts. I'm definitely not going the custom route at this time - at least not ordering something myself. I just spent 8 months waiting for the Colt Custom Shop to finish some work on a gun. And I have a Browning Hi Power off with Jim Garthwaite right now. I'm not saying I'd never go the custom route again, but I'm just sort of over the long-waiting game at the moment. Figuring I'll either get something new from Dawson/Brazos, or wait the right deal to pop up in the classifieds, etc. Then once I've got that, I can always order something else later, once I have some more experience in the USPSA game. The one thing I do like about the Eagle is the ability to take it over to IDPA if I ever get tired of shooting my CZ Shadow, which I'm using in ESP at the moment.
  11. So I'm still very new to USPSA, but I find myself drawn to the limited division. I don't want to shoot minor. And I don't own a .40 cal. I'm looking at either the STI Edge or Eagle. It seems like a lot of people get the Edge, but then have the slides cut. I'm sort of wondering how much weight they tend to remove with that. Because on the other hand, I see people with Eagles talking about adding a tungsten guide rods to add an extra ounce or two. I know this varies from shooter to shooter, but is there sort of an ideal weight in between the Eagle and Edge that people are looking for?
  12. Thanks Dirk, It's one of the things I love about this area. It seems like there is an IDPA or USPSA match within driving distance virtually every weekend - at least when the weather is warmer.
  13. I use VZ Tactical Diamonds on both of my Shadows. They look awesome and are aggressive enough that the gun does not move in my hand when shooting. http://vzgrips.com/gun-grips/cz-grips-1/cz-75-1/cz-75-full-size
  14. Greetings Folks. I'm a relatively new shooter to IDPA. Started a little over a year ago. Just starting to get involved in USPSA. I was looking for something to with my guns - other than stand in front of a target at a local indoor range. Then came IDPA and USPSA. Never knew you could have this much fun with a gun.
  15. I've been thinking about that. (though I do love shooting the 75 Shadow) I actually prefer the look of the Eagle over the Edge. But I find myself thinking the extra weight of the Edge would come in handy for recoil control.
  16. In IDPA, I shoot a CZ 75 Shadow in ESP. Just not yet comfortable with the double-action first shot - so I haven't attempted the move to production. For USPSA, I'm really wanting to shoot limited, but don't want to do minor. So, I'm looking at an Edge or Eagle for my USPSA shooting. I'm wondering how much (if any) that's going to hurt me as I go from one to the other.
  17. I wanted to shoot ESP in IDPA. And I have to admit that part of my thinking was that I wanted something different than the 1911s and Glocks that are so popular. I knew very little about the CZ until a friend mentioned he was getting a 75 SA. So I started nosing around the CZ Custom site and fell in love with the idea of the 75 Shadow. Picked one up around August/September. So far, I've had no reason to regret it. Rock solid and reliable.
  18. I have a pair of Shadows. One with about 4k rounds through it. Another with maybe 50. I didn't do anything special with it, as far as breaking it in. I did a quick field strip/cleaning. And then just took a bunch of boxes of reloads out to the range and started shooting. It's been pretty much flawless throughout. Both of the guns came from the CZ custom shop. And it's interesting to me that the new one has a trigger pull that's nearly a pound heavier - in both single and double action. I wonder how much of that has to do with the round count on my older copy of the gun.
  19. Yah. After losing a FO sight in a recent match, I picked up spare fiber for each of the different sights I might have with me at any given time. I don't carry a lighter (though I probably should).
