  1. But didn't you just say we shouldn't be changing parts?
  2. Where's the fun in that? Besides, if we don't buy parts from Henning and Eric, how are they going to support themselves?
  3. Just know that some of us are having issues with the Gen 4 firing pin. When I used it with the one-piece sear and extended firing pin block - the firing pin safety is disabled on both of my Stock IIs. When I switched back to the Gen 3 firing pin on both guns, everything worked as it should. So the gen 4 firing pin may or may not work for you.
  4. Of course, the problem is that we don't know really know which part of that sear is "long."
  5. Have you heard anything back about this yet??? I really want to get everything working and production legal ASAP so I can stop worrying about it.... BTW: Maybe Matt meant to say stock FPB, not "sear", but there are technically two different sears available from EGD, still not sure what the deal is with them though. Link to extended sear: http://www.ericgrauffelonlineshop.com/en/frame-parts/46-sear-lever.html Note the drop-down offering the option for regular and long. When I placed my order I went with the regular. I sure hope you are not supposed to get the long one to use in conjunction with the Titan hammer... I haven't heard back from Henning. Left him a message. I'm tempted to order one of the "long" sears just to see if it will work. Or maybe I'll just give up on the Gen 4 firing pin. Like you, I really just want to be done with the tinkering.
  6. The prototype looks largely like a 2011. Already set up to use STI mags. The grip angles are slightly different, though. Here's the story I wrote about the company. There are a couple of photos - one showing the gun in use. The other is a shot just of the gun. http://www.stltoday.com/business/local/army-s-quest-for-new-handgun-could-take-it-through/article_e19508e1-bc8e-57d3-acea-45538a604179.html
  7. I've had the opportunity to play around with the Detonics prototype a couple months ago - but didn't get to shoot it. It was a little odd - looking at a "2011" with no hammer. But the design is interesting. Geared toward fairly easy maintenance. If you have issues with the striker module, you just pop it out and put in a replacement. But which division would a gun like this compete in? The Detonics people seemed to think it would be in the production division.
  8. I've lost two so far. One Dawson and one Extreme. This was during my initial break-in with my guns. Since then, I've been using loctite. And checking for any looseness between matches/practice sessions. The front sight design, I would say, is not ideal.
  9. Just seems strange that the same setup in different samples of the same gun would produce such different results. We all seem to be using the exact same parts. But they work in Waktasz's gun, but not ours.
  10. By the way, I did hear back from Henning. Sounds like he's not aware of the issue some of us are having. But he's swamped in the shop today. I'm supposed to call him tomorrow to talk more about it.
  11. So, where do we go about finding an original extended sear? I don't think I've ever come across one while doing my parts shopping.
  12. And you are using a one-piece sear?
  13. I emailed Henning and pointed him to this thread.
  14. Is your extended FPB one of the older ones mentioned by Eli in the post above? You mention fitting it.
  15. Well, I'm not having much luck here - but I think it's the Gen 4 firing pin - not the Titan hammer. I have two Stock IIs that I'm working on. Both guns have the one piece sear and brand new extended firing pin block. One of them has the Delta hammer. The other has a Titan hammer. I tried each of them with the Gen 3 and Gen 4 firing pins. Here's what I got: Stock II (#1) Titan hammer and gen 4 firing pin = firing pin block fails. Titan hammer and gen 3 firing pin = firing pin block works Stock II (#2) Delta hammer and gen 4 firing pin = firing pin block fails Delta hammer and gen 3 firing pin = firing pin block works Interestingly, in both cases, with the Gen 4 pin, the firing pin block initially worked. But after a few dry-fire pulls, it failed in both guns. I suspect they would work with the 2-piece sear, but I have no desire to go back to those.
  16. I'll be checking this tonight myself. I have the Titan hammer, one piece sear and Gen 4 FP in one of my Stock IIs - FP block does not engage. I'm hoping that will change when I add the Extended FP block that should be arriving today.
  17. When I made the switch from Limited to Production (with a CZ) in October, I spent a ton of time just working on "make ready" during my dry fire. I did it over and over again until I'd effectively overwritten the "make ready" routine I'd used with a limited gun. These days, I don't do that part very often in dry fire. But I know it stuck. I took a couple weeks off from production recently to shoot Single Stack Nationals. And twice during the match, I had to stop myself from lowering the hammer on my 1911 during "Make Ready." Earned a couple puzzled glances from the ROs.
  18. Have only used mine in Dry fire since installing. But will be taking it to the range this afternoon if the rain holds off. I've also installed one of the titan hammers.
  19. Last night, I switched to the combination of the Gen 4 firing pin and EG light firing pin spring. Seems to be working. Or, at least, the firing pin hasn't gotten stuck yet. .
  20. I think this stuff really falls on the ROs running the squad, as well as the other squad members. Someone needs to say something to the slackers. Slap a roll of pasters in their hand, etc. It doesn't have to be confrontational. And you don't need to humiliate them. Just make it clear that everyone is expected to do their part. I'm lucky in that I'm part of a fairly large group of shooters (who understand the value of a well-run squad) who tend to squad together. Peer pressure alone generally gets everyone else on the same page. And sometimes, it's enough for the RO to shout out - to no one in particular - the need for everyone to paste. If you have someone who, after all that, still refuses to help - they probably need to have a quiet conversation with one of the match directors.
  21. Correct, but you have major scoring and a magwell! Huge difference on the example I gave above. magwell on a 1911 really seems to only about equalize the reloads. I wouldn't call it an advantage for my reload skill.I shot SS exclusively for a few years with a big SV magwell, trust me it's easier to load a SS w/magwell than a CZ Shadow I don't have to trust you. I train with both setups. Perhaps I just practice more. with about the same amount of practice (lots) with both setups, my reload times are identical. I'd be curious how other folks who have practiced on both set ups feel, especially the M and GM folks. I was using a CZ setup before making the switch (for 2 weeks) to single stack nationals. It was the first time I got my SS guns out, since the previous single stack nationals. My reloads suffered not one bit. That surprised me, considering how much I dry fire and practicing with my production set up. So, for me at least, I have to give the edge to Single Stack when it comes to reloads - at least on guns equipped with an Ice Magwell or similar.
  22. Being competitive has nothing to do with winning. It has everything to do with how you approach the game and how you perform during the game. It's about effort. And caring about your performance.
  23. I took a break from production for a two weeks to shoot Single Stack Nationals. I was surprised at how much easier it was to do the reloads with my .40 cal single stack gun with an Ice Magwell. It was just the opposite of what I'd been expecting.
  24. How do you like it with your S2, how's the fit? Loving it with the Stock II. No issues on the fit.
  25. I'm leaning more toward the spring. The clipped spring definitely is an issue. Once I switched to the regular wolf spring, the issue seems to have gone away. Seems that the pin just needs more resistance to avoid going too far down the channel and gettting stuck.
