  1. I have one of each. But I don't notice any difference.
  2. Sort of assume it's because he has his gun set up the way he likes it. And yes, the Dawson Front sight is a little taller. Looks like .160 versus .150.
  3. Probably depends on what you plan to add to your Stock II. If you are someone who's happy with the base gun and some polishing, then the Xtreme makes no real sense. But I see several advantages - based on how I put together my other Stock IIs. These are the rough retail prices for the extras that I cared about. 1. Xtreme trigger - $100. 2. Delta hammer - $115. 3. Xtreme Grips - $115 4. 3 extra mags - $75 5. Xtreme FP - $40 6. Xtreme guide rod - $40 7. 1-piece sear - $40 8. Xtreme FO front sight - $65 Total = $590 That doesn't include the base pads ($40 each) or the Xtreme parts that are chromed. Those don't matter to me. Personally, I love the black/bronze look of the extreme - once the silver controls are replaced with black.
  4. Interesting. I need to chrono mine at some point. Hopefully I can get out to do that in the next couple of weeks.
  5. So I wonder what the date cut-off is for the changes. My newest Stock II was purchased last year (around September) from a dealer who'd just received it from EA. It has the older dimensions. My Xtreme (which has the "new" dimensions" was purchased this month.
  6. At first, I thought it was because of the camera angles. But, looking at them again - there are a few definite differences. 1. The beaver tail is beefier on the Xtreme model. 2. The barrel does not extend as far on the Xtreme model. So the barrel on the Xteme is a tad bit shorter. Haven't actually measured it yet. 3. The area under the beavertail is also shaped just a slight bit differently. Angle is just a little more abrupt on the Xtreme model. When holding in the hand, though, there's no noticeable difference. OI wonder if this is just a change in Tangfolio's frames. Or do they actually use different frames for the regular and Xtreme models?
  7. Just couldn't deal with the silver controls on the Xtreme model. So I traded some parts out - resulting in two distinctly different looks. The Xtreme model did need some polishing work. But not nearly as much as what was required for my stock Stock II. The triggers are very close, right now. So I'm thinking I may actually go the route of using one for practice and the other for matches.
  8. Could not imagine not having a spare gun when traveling to a sanctioned match. If I'm just running out to a local club match, I don't bring a spare gun. Ideally, you'd like your spare to be as identical as possible to your main gun. Personally, If I couldn't come up with the money for two Stock IIs, I think I'd probably switch to a less expensive gun, so that I could have a matched pair. I've just seen too many guns go down at matches. And while you can generally find someone willing to loan you a gun to finish the match, I'd much rather not have to worry about that.
  9. So how'd it go with Anacortes? Went well. Sadly I don't have the gun yet because of Florida's waiting period. I get to pick it up Tuesday. Did get to play with it a little when I paid the transfer fee. Trigger better than my stock Stock II. But it's still going to need some work.
  10. Went ahead and ordered one. I'll be curious to see if I actually get it. Called Anacortes. They said the warehouse inventory updates every hour. As of 40 minutes ago, they showed 16 in stock. Whether or not they are actually there, remains to be seen.
  11. Really want one of these. Though I know it may not really make a lot of sense. Anyone have any dealings with the Anacortes gunshop? I've never come across the place.
  12. "Built with the competitor in mind." Just the wrong competitor, apparently. I can't say I am a huge fan of modern Colt offerings, But I do own one off the Colt Marine CQB pistols. I've only put 400-500 rounds through it, but it has been an excellent pistol. Very accurate. Hard to call something reliable when it hasn't been shot that much. But it has been 100 percent so far.
  13. I'd rather not see carbines at USPSA matches. If they want to do something where they have a side match afterwards or the following day, I'm all for it. I have nothing against the carbines. I'm in the process of going the SBR route on a Sig MPX right now. But we already have enough divisions as it is. If you want to shoot rifles, find a 3-gun, multi-gun or rifle match.
  14. When looking at firing pin replacements, just know that quite a few of us have had problems with the Henning Gen 4 extended firing pins. I've tried them on three different Stock IIs - in each case, the firing pin safety didn't work with the Gen 4 pin. So I've gone back to the Gen 3 firing pins for my match guns. I've spoken with Henning about the issue. He said he was going to look into it. But I don't think that's resulted in any changes yet.
  15. I've used three different types of grips on my Stock IIs and the Stock III that I owned. No fitting issues at all.
  16. So I emailed VZ today to add another voice to their list of people asking them to make grips for the Stock IIs, etc. Got a pretty quick response that basically said they've gotten a ton of similar requests and they are looking into it. But they have a lot of other projects underway right now. "Check back with us next year," they said.
  17. Is that 6 pm closing time pretty strict? Wondering how much time we'll actually have to look over stages if we come in on Friday afternoon.
  18. There was a delay, but not quite this long. I remember them coming around to our squads at Area 5 (which was also at Pasa last year) in June, handing out the knives to those of us who had shot SS.
  19. If it weren't against the rules for production (in regards to disabling it), I'd be happy to go without one.
  20. I use the gen 3 firing pin with the extended fp block. I've heard of people having success with the gen 4 pin and the extended fp block. But that combo has failed on all three of my guns.
  21. Well, as I understand it, the gun would be illegal for USPSA production division. Don't think you can disable any safeties. I keep waiting for someone at a chrono station to start checking this. (And it's also one of the reasons I stick with the Gen 3 firing pin, which functions as it should in my guns.)
  22. It's funny. It's the one mod I haven't liked at all. Went back to the stock trigger return springs. The trigger return just felt too sluggish/mushy when I used the CGW TRS. I felt like I was waiting for the trigger to reset so I could fire my next shot. Obviously, just a personal thing. And I really liked that spring with my CZs.
  23. I use a piece of a toothpick as a slave pin. But the rivet sounds like a better idea.
