  1. What about adding a 20-rounder to a 30-rounder for 50? Or (2)20's for 40? Or any other combination? Does anyone know if you can do that? That way you can taylor a mag to a stage for example.
  2. I know there is a battery cover for Aimpoints that allows (2) batteries instead of one. It is supposed to obvoulsy allow the batteries to last longer as there are (2) instead of (1), but it is also supposed to make the "dot" brighter. Can this be done to the millet? I don't have one anymore so I can't try it. But why not try inserting (2) batteries into the houseing and not cranking down the cap too tight and see what that does?
  3. Well, I was never able to get the cheapies to work, so I sent them back. BensOutlet took them back, but at the time they did not have any left to send another pair, so they refunded my money. It appears that they have them in stock again, but I think I will just save up for the actual I-kams.
  4. As for the JP trigger, try it out by hand cycling before you sell it. It may work and then you have one less thing to tinker with. I got the spikes block for the same reason as you are thinking, more adjustments can be made. I needed to adjust it quite a bit to get it to work perfect. But now it locks the bolt on empty, and ejects well. I needed to tune the ejector a little. I found it best to have the upper on the rifle in a vice, then install the block, and raise it until the ejector just touches the bottom of the bolt when the bolt is slowly allowed forward. Then lower the block until it is just below the bolt and not touching. YOu may want to put some dykem on the ejector and run the bolt back and forth and see if it rubs anywhere. If it does either move the block, or file the ejector. As for magazines, I had some old C-Products with the black followers, and smooth sides. They would not work well, and I E-mailed C-products, and they sent me an RMA tag, and sent me new mags with the Orange followers, and dimples on the top. I tried those and had problems with not locking the bolt back. I found that the follower would not be "high-enough" in the tube and the tab on the back of the follower that actuates the bolt hold open would not engage all the time. I found that a little time with the dremel on the left side of the rear of follower allowed the follower to sit "higher" in the tube, voila no more problems Hope this helps.
  5. I have the set-up you are speaking of. RRA upper, Spikes block, and C-Products mags. I also have the heavy buffer, and KNS anti-roll pins. The 9mm is hard on Hammer pins and I broke (2) before the KNS pins. Since then I have run 9-10 thousand rounds no issues compared to (2) broken pins in 1500 rounds. The other thing to watch for is the hammer itself if you plan to swap lowers. I have a Jard adjustable trigger set to about 2-lbs, and have had no issues, but I know that some hammers will lock the bolt in place if the bolt is not ramped. Mine is not, and my hammer works so I don't worry about it. Hope that helps.
  6. I got a pair of the $29 pair from Bens-outlet. With shipping it was $34 out the door. They arrived quickly, and I am now trying to get them to work. I figured for $34 why not give it a try. I can get them to recognize the SD card, and previous stuff that was on it, but the camera does not want to turn on. I have a call into tech-support, we'll see how it turns out. If it was $34 well spent, or a fews days brown-bagging it to work instead. I'll let you know it turns out.
  7. The .40 Pro should fit the hand the same as the .40 Standard. I too have large hands and a "really" high grip. Every so often I will get the web of my hand nicked with my 2011 I have never had a problem with M&P. I love it, it fits my hand, and I am now waiting like everyone else for the Pro.
  8. Can you post the spec and dimensions on the single stack pouches. Those are awesome. Also, since you already have the dimensions of the pieces you use, try contacting a local "water jet, or laser cutter" and see if you have one in town or near by. I had a local guy cut me some Lexan for a project I was building for .22 Black Dog Magazine loader. I know it is outsourcing, but sometimes the nice gentlemen with business cards can do part of your work for you much better, faster, and more efficient than you. That leaves you the easy part of just forming them.
  9. Now that SHOT is over, was there any news about a "Pro" or "L" in .40 ever being produced any time soon?
  10. Don't laugh, I got mine at Miracle Ear!!!!! I know it sounds hilarious, but the Sears store in my small town makes hearing aids. Call them up and see if they can make a custom pair for you. They even let me "color-code" them. Blue and white swirl for left ear, and Red and white for the right. I think they were about $89 or something like that.
  11. I love my Jard. 1.5 lbs and crisp and clean. I have it in a 9mm AR. If it was gonna break it would have done so my now. I have broken 2 trigger pins due to violent nature of the straight blow back. Still ticks away like a timex.
  12. So I am thinking of building a new upper for local Tac-Rifle Matches. I want a 18" barrel, but the (2) barrels I am looking at have different Gas systems. One has a mid-length, and the other has a rifle length. My first idea was a 16" rifle with a pig-tail to make it a rifle length system. Is there a "big" differnce between the 2 systems mid or rifle, or would I be better suited with one or the other. I am still trying to decide if I want to put it on my current carbine lower with Magpul CTR stock and Endine buffer, or a new lower with a Vltor rifle length mod-stock and rifle length Endine? Would the 2 different systems cause problems on the 2 different lowers. As for comps I was thinking of a Cooley Comp, or TTI Recoil Ellimantor. Do you think that would pose any issues with the gas system? Thanks.
  13. Thanks for all the help guys, got it fixed. Now I just have to find some .22 ammo!!!!
  14. My $.02 on asking the shooter which way they are turning. It is always nice to ask, and most of the time the shooter will tell you so yo can be prepared. It's also nice to know on the oddball lefty that shows up. Since they are turning the "wrong" way to 90% of the rest of the shooters. I know some RO's may get complacent on thinking everyone is turning the same way, and the lefty telling you they are turning the other way helps keep your focus sharp.
  15. Yep, should have stated that. The STI safety fits through both the frame, and the beavertail independently, but not when installed together. The frame is completely bare right now with only the MSH in place.
  16. I have a .22 top end and am trying to put in on Caspian XSR frame. The top end is fine, I am trying to install all the small parts on the frame. I have the MSH, and Trigger fit, I have a Caspian BeaverTail that drops in, and an old STI Ambi safety that was sitting in the safe to use. With the beavertail out the STI slides in (both sides) and rotates freely. When the Beaver tail is installed the STi will not slide in without tapping with a hammer, and then it will not rotate. When the safety is in, the holes appear to be straight and true all the way though. I don't want to break the safety, so what am I missing? Thanks
  17. Please correct me if I am wrong, but there are no real differences in the (2) pistols other than slide length and profile (besides internal stuff) correct? If you have a blade-tech M&P holster for the standard, just bust out the dremel and cut the end of the holster off, and then chamfer the edges. The "end" of the barrel/slide will stick out a bit, but not enough to cause a problem. That is what I have done to DOH for my STI's since I have a 5" and 6" standard frame. Now I have a holster that fits both STI's and all my 1911's as well.
  18. I have shot N2IPSC's rifle at local matches before. I have to say that shooting his rifle is like cheating! It is the flatest, and softest shooting rifle I have shot. I have talked to Floyd extensively about the rifle, and I am in the process of compiling the parts as we speak. I will say that he does not have a carbine buffer tube on the rifle, but rifle length stock.
  19. Just curious if anyone has ever done this, and what equipment was used. Is it even worth thinking about. I mean how accurate are the rifles compared to the pistols. Can you shoot the small pistol steel targets used for psitols out to say 20-30 yards?
  20. I was the CRO, and stage desinger for the boat stage. Out of the entire match RO's included, Gary was the only person to "fall out of the boat", or even come close. We had small guys get up and move within the boat with no problems, big guys got up and moved inside the boat. As long as you didn't "rush the corner" ahem.... there were no problems. We worked very hard to make the boat stable for everyone, and yet still get you out of your comfort zone for static shooting. We tried 4-3, and finally 2 intertubes and adjusted all the air pressures until it was just right. We needed to get just the right amount of movement, and yet still be completely stable. I have to say this stage that was one of my favorite stages for the whole match just becuase it was so different, that and Stage 4 Sand Castles where you started with your "ridiculously overpriced Mai-Tai in your hands. Big Thanks to Doug and all the staff at Custer. Great match, and typical of the NW section production value. I look forward to next year at Marysville.
  21. I have a new 6" STI that has run 100% for the 6 matches I shot before this weekend (it only has about 1200 rounds through it). I even took to the 2009 Area 1 championship in Parma with not so much as a hiccup for the whole weekend. I was shooting the NW Challenge at Custer this weekend at the Staff match, and I had 5 stove pipes across 4 different stages. The ammo I used was all the same stuff used at Area 1 it made power factor, and I have not done anything to it (the gun or ammo) since that match. All the ammo was case gauged and fit, and the only thing done to the gun was cleaning it? Any ideas?
  22. Hey Mitch, It has been as hot as Hillsboro!!!!! It was 114 in Kirkland yesterday, and 98 in Bellingham Bring plenty of water, and sunscreen. It's gonna be a cooker. I don't envy Steve and Rick on the Jungle Run 60+ shooters in the high 80's Albert and I will RO Stages (2) and (3) with no shade, but no running involved. See everyone there.
  23. Take home a little piece!!!!! I have filled my kids sand box, with the just the sand from my shoes. Matt
  24. Floyd has done an outstanding job, and has the stages up for review on the web-site. NW Challenge Stages PS: Thanks for cleaning up my stage desciptions Floyd. I may learn to wread and rite someday too.
