  1. With all that is going on recently and the Clinton/Bloomberg clan members running off their mouths sure start of another run of before it is too late over loading the system. Hope taken care of and good luck with it.
  2. My Sprinfield loaded runs with everything, reloads and factory. Funny have a 1911 in 40 and that is finicky. Get your basics down first, get comfortable with it and your shooting, not discouraging doing matches far from it just saying seen too many new to guns and competition trying to compete, getting discouraged or worse. Picking up bad habits which are a lot harder to fix then learning the right way first.
  3. All 3 mentioned good choices, also the advice on caliber. 9mm is minor so less points out of the A zone, will make you concentrate on accuracy and the speed will come.
  4. Took slide apart and thoroughly cleaned see what happens. Dry firing had no issue.
  5. Only when changing mags? Worked when slide was racked?
  6. Recoil spring is new so that's not it. Going to tear slide completely down clean take a look at the striker assembly and hopefully cleaning it will resolve it, otherwise a call to S&W.
  7. Have a 40L Pro that last year broke the original firing pin a first generation and S&W sent me a new one and it tested ok. Haven't used it since then until today, in a match at least 75% of the time when changing mags with a round still in the chamber, went to fire and nothing, racked the slide and cycled properly til the next mag change. Is it a bad striker assembly or another problem? Any ideas?
  8. Best read idea for non helper, don't set up on his turn when he notices hand him the pasters here you go or would you prefer a DNF?
  9. Also comes as a set Warren tactical, find that rear sight easier and faster to use.
  10. Could be also that Arms or is making more of a name for itself here and they stopped selling to STI.
  11. More metal on metal in a 1911 so there are more areas to lubricate, and not overly too much just spreads the gunk around. Mags you can not go wrong with those 3,my experience with Wilson's and plastic follower though do not go together well with sand.
  12. The bow looks more like the Sig, but no adjusting screw.
  13. According to Sig site, their trigger, but sure made for them. Thinking same thing, Wilson does make one.
  14. Kind of changes the topic, but making it easier to make higher classes without the same skill level as previous shooters sounds utterly ridiculous I said I don't expect to make a GM that doesn't mean I am not striving to. Then again maybe still in the topic area.
  15. I think what he said was "i'm a high C shooter now, I'll be lucky to make A (someday)" I don't think it will be luck tho. It's just plain work. See the sights, pull the trigger smoothly, repeat until you get faster at it. Thanks Moto, really hate auto correct. Yes that is what I meant. At the same time,I'm 61 and being realistic, but always striving to improve.
  16. As one of the masses of shooters most of this information is intended for first thank you for a lot of useful and productive information. I'm a high C shooter know be really lucky to make A,but enjoy the sport most importantly. Having shot with Moto seen how fluid he is on a CoF agree with him and Nimitz. My take on this sort of a synopsis. 1-Most important shoot as fast as you possibly can get As. 2-Be ready to fire the first shot as soon as you can-might not be your best chance for 2 As but be ready. 3-leaving an array, the mag should be dropping out, next one getting ready to load and ready for step 2. 4-PRACTICE
  17. In tune with this question, with OAL for freeloaders, with the added length are you also increasing powder charge to maintain the power factor/fps?
  18. Same you're not alone, get older hard to see the .90
  19. Safety is the first concern, too many new comers see the speed so many have and try to copy that right off. WAY to get DQ'D or worse, work on reloads, double taps, dry firing. Speed comes with experience, don't rush it and enjoy. Have seen people at beginning get DQ'D and never return great sport enjoy and good luck.
  20. Went from M&P Pro 40 to a 1911 first in 45 then back to 40, the added weight helps bring it back on target so am finding more 2As or A,Cs, less Ds and more confidence in my shooting.
  21. Have a STI Sentry 1911, put in a Wilson extended have used in a Springfield Loaded and Kimber, went in and worked no problems. GOT for the Sentry and 1-too big to fit in frame. 2-once in,locking screw would not turn enough to lock the release in and let it function. 3-once screw lock fitted to fully lock very hard to seat mags. First STI, so this common on STI? or problem with mine or the parts? BTW took parts from Springfield and they wouldn't work either.
  22. Sorry to hear, no need for a third 1911 in 40.
