  1. Living in the Empire of New York I envy you guys choices of ALL the REAL divisions. I'm now 61, shooting SS and done both major and minor using 45,40 and 9. Realilisticly know a solid C hope to make B that said like major for the reason have to think more where to reload as most stages here set up for 10 rounds.
  2. Recently picked up a STI Sentry 150 rounds of factory 180 without a hitch. No experience with hard chrome, but gun is tight, finish inside and out More then satisfactory. No experience with the Valor, but having shot Wilson's and Baers more then happy with the STI.
  3. Good choice, can always move up.
  4. No reason why not. Would need some extras to compete, magwell, etc but yeah. Good place to start a Baer.
  5. My range is all sand, and I find one grain of sand in the Wilson ETMs and they are useless, never mind the follower gets scrapped up. Only use them at other ranges. No problems with Tripps. Might try the McCormick. Asked if they planned on making mags for 40 and they laughed.
  6. For last 3 years have had the Apex competition set installed with the one trigger, my Pro 40 can do a lot better then me as it is now.
  7. Picked one up last month, along with the hogue g10 thin grips, WHAT a difference.
  8. Same advice, Dawson's, have them on my Pro 40 use for competition.
  9. Thanks zzt, recoilmaster feels nice but seems whole lot of trouble at a match if need to take it down. Right out of the box first time not a bad word, sighted in,Fed all rounds. Thank you STI.
  10. A little perspective, 2 years now waiting for Sig Max in 40,reading this thread because got a STI Sentry instead. Sure your wait is going to be less.:-)
  11. Before you going out and buying one,try one out,it's the same as yet different then the 1911. Wider grip obviously so different feedback when shooting.also can't go wrong with a STI.
  12. Have shot competitively in SS in 9,40 and 45.also find the 40 the best of both worlds. Have a Sig Elite in 40 and just picked up a STI Sentry in 40, planning to use that as main gun this year. I personally would lean more toward the STI. In 1911s the 40 seems to be lost step child and a lot of companies don't plan on making them except special order. A shame, Sig ALLEGEDLY says they are coming out with the competition ready MAX in 40 but we all might be retired from the game before that happens.
  13. Never had that trouble with mine did put in lighter main, recoil springs and no complaints. Do have a Elite in 40 went to put a FO front sight on and found the front sight had been pinned in through the slide and off center, guess was within their specs though.
  14. Have a SA loaded in 9mm,unless wrong seems the difference really only the finish on the RO.
  15. Going to the Area 8 championship this year maybe get to meet you there Audani.
  16. Have a Sig in 40 also, use Tripp mags and have not had any problems, but that is with the Sig, going for the Sentry so will keep an update going. Again thanks for the advice
  17. Have the opportunity to get a Sentry, they worth the extra over the Trojan in 40 S&W not that it really matters.
  18. Like the Wilson Combats except that my range is a sand dune and with the close tolerance of them a grain of sand locks them up and scores the follower.
  19. Almost 2 years now on the Sig Max 1911 in 40 and not a word,so only advice hope pray but don't hold your breath.
  20. Have it in 40 S&W, put on the Hogue 3 piece grip,MSH set and good to go for competition. Have run 400 rounds through it and no complaints. I also changed the front sight to a fiber optic. I also have a Sig 1911 Max in 45 and really don't see a whole lot of difference. I can say that I can recommend it.
  21. Have the Sig Match Elite in 40, have used both TRIPP mag no problem and also McCormick 45s with no problem, load to factory spec OAL.
  22. About 1500 through mine and 3 matches,great gun.
  23. Installed the Warren tactical set yesterday worked out very well and highly recommend.
