  1. My wife just picked one of these up and I am thinking about getting one as well. What do you think this version is setup to fit ELS clips so if you have extra caddies you can add a few backer plates and just clip them on the belt. She chose to go with dedicated sets of shell holders so they are more secure and don't hang out as far.
  2. It's always important to pay attention while shooting.
  3. They are taking orders for the actual 1 x 8's but they should ship soon.
  4. I have never seen this happen before. The barrel had no damage but the choke tube was caved in from peaces of wad building up between the barrel and choke. The choke had worked its way loose and allowed a gap between the barrel and choke large enough to collect plastic from passing wads. Has anyone else seen this happen?
  5. The first one I built had a buffer spacer and I still broke the bolt hold open latch.
  6. Thanks. Has anyone tried the 7.5oz or heavier buffers. I see a lot of people like the JP buffer but I have a solid bolt so I am looking for a standard style buffer that I could try.
  7. What weight spring would work for a 9mm with a recoil master currently?
  8. Anyone having trigger reset issues. Gun was running fine for a few thousand rounds and then stated getting a dead trigger. With a hyperfire and light spring set. Switched to a Timmy drop in and got a dead trigger every 10 rounds. Was wondering what anyone else is using?
  9. We have both the MGM and GT. The GT springs seem to hold up longer. Other than that, they are pretty similar.
  10. What load are you running through it? I've seen some folks in 3-Gun able to run some really low PF through the DVCs and wondering if these were similar with the tri-top and slide lightening. There is a guy at my club running the Freedom Hush through his DVC with an 8lb spring and shock buffer, and it is functioning. I am not sure I would go that light as I can't imagine it would work well for spinners and larger knock down steel, but I am curious with the lockup on the CK's how light you can go.
  11. It looks like if you are shooting PCC you can shoot all targets on any course except frangible or a target set in the place of a clay on some ranges where clays may not be used. Does the PCC rule supersede a stage rule that says your handgun or shotgun must be fired or you get a procedural?
  12. I got one of these about a month ago and I like it. It is faster for me to turn back on. The one down side is the safety moves in the opposite direction on my rifle then on the shot gun. Not normally a big deal for me, I shoot unlimited but definitely something to think about when dumping a gun because rifle being safety on with index finger and shot gun safety on with thumb.
  13. In the past I only shoot lead when reloading 40 and 45 but when I started loading 9mm for open guns lead became more of a hassle. Loading plated for compensated guns may be an option you will want to look into. With the increased velocity, leading in the barrel may also be more of problem. Depending on load I saw an increase in velocity of 150 to 300 fps in the PCC. I shot the ammunition through a factory Glock 19 and a 9mm Ar with a 16 inch barrel. Some exceeding 1500 fps out of the PCC.

  15. I was at two matches last year that had a 4" square, one at 100 and an optional 4" at 200. Most of the 1X crowd fired two and moved on or never even saw the 4" at 200. I thought it was fine but I run unlimited. It was optional but you got 20 sec bonus so it was not really an option to skip it once the first shooter hit it.
  16. I was big in to trap before getting into three gun and at the time I was working on my Saiga build. I took a half gray and metallic red gun out to the line I got many funny looks but ATA Trap has no rules about optics. I just had to shoot it single shot. After we got done i had a few people asking what it was. I got a few 10 rd mags and let people try it. I brought it out many more times before moving away from that club and always had fun. Since moving to Ohio I have taken it and a pink zombie versa max out to sporting clays. I think they are often conversation starters when on the range. Most of the time all you see are very nice wood stocks on over under or maybe a side by side.
  17. I keep the same bow and just put the new trigger on it. You can tweak the bows and get them to work if they don't at first but swapping them is just easier at this point. I always add a drop of epoxy to the new trigger so the bow can't work it self loose.
  18. MVSG has started steel back up for the summer. It starts at 5pm and squads start when they get full. Last squad starts at 6pm with the goal of being done by 7pm. It is normally 5 stages with some falling steel. (poppers, plate racks, Texas star and propeller plate rack) Three of the stages are steel challenge style with static steel plates but are only one run per stage. A normal week is 40 to 50 pieces of steel and some of them will be moving. Pictures of stages, videos and weekly results are post on face book at Miami valley steel shooters. The matches are open to all levels of competitors and is a good place to bring new shooters. 22lr to 45acp max
  19. I bought the gun from another shooter on hear it only had 200 shells or less fired. It was all done by Tooth and Nail and it looks great but it just barely ejects the 1 1/8 at 1200 fps. He said it was set up to run the 1145 fps shells and I didn't know what the break in would need. Have you tried any the Suprema shells? I have been running them in my Saiga 1oz 8 shot at 1315 fps. They eject well (5 feet) and I have gone through a few mags with no issues. Thanks for the advice
  20. Any advice on tuning standard 10 round mags. If they run should I still clean up the feed lips? And what is the break in period on a new MKA 1919?
  21. Thanks for the tip, I am going to make some of these for our club. Does the shot eat them up over time?
  22. It took us a few months to get 3GN approved at our club. The nation wide set of established rules helped. The fact that your club is added to the nation wide data base of 3 gun clubs allows new shooters to find your club. It is only $50 a year for the club to join 3GN they send you a small banner 2x4 feet to hang up for events an a stack of window decals. 3 gun clubs also get discounts from some of the best companies in the business, like MGM gives a 10% discount on all their steel targets. If your club holds other types of matches they might not mind getting the discount.
  23. I have also been shooting Freedom Munitions124s and they have very little muzzle blast but have a softer recoil. The dot does rise a little though. This load might be faster on steel but not as fast to double tap a paper target.
  24. I am running an Xtreme 124 RN and 5.4 grains of Longshot with Win. small pistol primers OAL of 1.137. This is the same load I use in my Steelmaster and limited gun for for 3 gun. I was getting 1140 fps ave. from the pistol. I have also tried a few 124 FP Rainer but they are touching the rifling at 1.070 OAL and are a little sticky to pull out of the chamber if not fired. They function and eject just fine. Both loads have a reasonable amount or muzzle blast for a pistol load. I took video this weekend of my wife at a local match and the gun had no muzzle rise with these loads.
