  1. Hi, I have seen 28" AR-500 popper faces (i.e., the popper but without the base) around a lot. I am working on a project and I am looking for 42" popper faces. Any suggestions? Thanks
  2. I am running the Racemaster. I'll have to look into the Alpha-X for 3-Gun.
  3. I had an issue on the first 9mm ar I built with a mix of parts would do the same thing in regards to the FTE's. The extractor was not hooking on the case until they would fire. If I had a round left I had to pull it free with my finger nail. I cut my extractor a little thinner and have had no problems since.
  4. I run a DAA and when it is locked it is not coming out. The one issue I have run into is with a full mag and a heavy gun, the holster can work its way loose on the pivot and the gun will move around a little. This has only happened a couple of times in the past few years and is the result of a full 170 mag and the pistol part of the stage was after a long with both other guns first.
  5. I am loading 1.164 OAL with 124 X-Treme RN Plated and getting 1376fps with AutoComp out of my CK in 9mm. Are plated bad? Why does everyone use JHP?
  6. I have been running a 100 round beta mag for the last 3 months without a single malfunction. It sits up well when staging a gun and I can leave it loaded so their is no rush between stages when I am ROing. It has not been left unloaded in 3 months with no issues. Cost is a little steep but 3gun isn't cheap.
  7. This looks like a good deal on UMC. https://www.remington.com/sites/default/files/rebate/file/Remington_BlackFriday_Ammo.pdf
  8. Mine broke at 2000 rounds and I replaced it with a JP I ordered both but the JP worked. It was $2 more and I hope it holds up a little better.
  9. I have several of the 31 round mags with +5/6 from a few different makers and a couple of the TF+10 which are great but the best mag I have is a beta. I can load it when ever and be able to run most of a match with it. So far it has been running for two months and I have let a few other people try it with no malfunctions. I have been running reloads for 825 fps to 1505fps and all have run with out and issue. I don't recommend dropping it.
  10. You can't beat the JP silent capture. I have also used the 7.5 oz buffer and extra power spring and it has been reliable .
  11. I got a batch of FC brass mixed in with a blue tint around the primer that were all crimped in August of this year.
  12. The hyper fire 24C will work in JP rifles. I think this is because of the JP buffer system. It was also worked in a random build, once I switched to a Kaw Valley Precision Solid Stainless Steel Blowback Buffer - 7.5oz and extra power buffer spring. With the 5.5 oz and 9mm buffer spacer I was getting hammer follow with no doubling. It was just a dead trigger.
  13. I recently purchased a C-Mag 100 round mag for my 9mm Ar. The mag has run really well. It looks well built but I would not thing about doing a mag change and dropping this mag. The mag is shorter then the 33 round glock mags but it hangs out to both sides of the rifle by about 5".
  14. Shooting PCC will actually save you money. For anyone who is still reading this is how I justified it. My wife and I both shoot 3gun and we go through a considerable amount of ammo. Most of the ranges that we shoot on are less then 100 yards and in 3 gun nation PCC has its own division. I reload a lot of 9mm and it costs around $0.10 per round. If I shoot PCC I can engage most shotgun steel with 9mm at less then half the price of 12 gauge shells $0.23 shot shell (Walmart Value Pack). Any rifle targets are now engaged with 9mm instead of .223 at $0.33 per 223 rifle round a savings of over 66%. At this rate a JP-13 will pay for it self in 6,750 rounds.
  15. Thanks for the suggestions. I worked out a load of 3.9 grains of Longshot producing 815 fps. It has very soft recoil and makes power factor.
  16. I was testing a few loads in a glock 26 and 6.7 grains of Longshot pushed a 124 Plated to 1215 fps. No pressure signs but didn't run anything hotter.
  17. Loading 165 X-treme with 3.9 grains or Longshot at 1.160" giving me 825 fps. These make power factor in pistol and rifle. Only about a 10 fps increase in the rifle 14.5" with a pinned comp for 16". I have also been loading 3.3 grains of Hodgdon Clays with 124 grain X-treme bullets at 1.160" these have shown no increase in velocity between a 4" pistol barrel and 14.5" rifle. Average of 965 fps which does not make power factor but has equal recoil to my 10/22. They are quiet compared to factory loads out of my pistols and out of the rifle they sound like a loud poof. They still had enough power to knock down 8" plates on a plate rack at 75 yds. I also load the 124's with 5.4 grains for Longshot producing 1035 fps out of a pistol and average of 1215 fps out of the rifle. These were producing 3" groups at 85 yds
  18. This was the point of a little contention at a match this year when we had shooters pulling up the rules on their phone saying a new guy needed to be bumped to Unlimited because he had replaced to the factory floor plates with aftermarket one that were brightly colored. They did not increase round count but they were not original. He decided that scopes made three gun better and switched to practical for future matches. As it reads shooters should be using factory mags. Because it is a round count limit as well. I can fit 31 in a factory magpul mag, that would not be allowed in Factory correct? Shot guns can have any length tube so long as the capacity is only 8 shells. If I was going to run factory I would use the longer tube but put a smaller diameter plug in the gun so the spring is not as compressed allowing for easier loading you will have to submit to a few extra RO's checking the capacity.
  19. It looks like OPCC will be shot at 3 Gun Nationals this year. Should be interesting to see how it goes. Some of the RO's have not been overly happy with it in smaller matches this year and it does require some extra thought form Match Directors but I think it is fun.
  20. We have run two of this style match this year and everyone loved it. We did not have rifle steel either and the range was not long enough anyway so we used clays hung from 2x4's. 6 on each like a plate rack but to get equal target size to a plate rack at 50 yards we had to move the clays to 25yds.
  21. I think that is some thing to consider in the 3GN events if you are moved to Unlimited you walk a smaller prize table but the prizes are all good. You have a lot fewer shooters in Unlimited and you might walk an hour ahead of where you would have in Practical. And if people are getting bumped for a single piece of gear not being to division specs they are shooting at a disadvantage.
  22. I just ordered some X-treme 165 grain bullets and I can't find much in the way of loads. Wanted to try Longshot or Autocomp. I have seen a few Titegroup loads but thought with case capacity and bullet weight a slow power would be interesting. If any one has tried some different powders I would be curious to find out how it went?
  23. I just purchased 2 MBX magazines for my CK Arms Limited 9mm. The magazines will not fit in the gun. They fit in my other STI 2011's perfectly, but they will not seat in the CK. When I tore the gun down and inserted the magazine, it appears that the frame is too narrow to allow it to lock in. Has anyone else had this issue?
  24. I like a 1x4 in the case of an occasional long range target. But I will be running a vortex razor HD 1x6 for nationals. With the dot on and turned up it is just like the brightest red dot.
  25. I think they are a brass wash or plated and with the change in the shape primer. They could have gone with a cheaper primer like Cheddites which are a few thousands larger and can only be reloaded with Cheddite primers normal federal primes can be pushed in with your thumb. cheddite primer
