  1. Since we're on the topic of horses, this is what I did for 20 yrs before starting competitive shooting. Not me, but same thing. Lower back got so bad couldnt walk after getting off horse. Still miss it a lot.
  2. I just received one, found it on Amazon. Fits nicely.
  3. Have you checked or replaced the tip on the primer magazine tube? They get damaged easily, then things go down hill fast. Keep plenty on hand. Also, is the nut on the top of the primer magazine tight? It should only just touch the inner magazine tube, any tighter and it can cause problems.
  4. Only squid I've had, and blew up a Barstow barrel in a custom 1911, was due to insufficient drying process after starting wet tumbling brass with SS pins. Though I thought the brass was dry enough, there was enough moisture to contaminate powder and/or primer. For a lot of reasons went back to media tumbling brass.
  5. I got mine to 43.7 oz. Front sight post bob, Acetel guide rod from CGW, DPP (with shroud), MG Mags & basepads, and LOC LW grips . The grips alone saved me .8 oz.
  6. That is a good question for Stuart at CZC, since they did the milling. I suspect they could have easily taken another oz or two from the slide. I would have preferred not to have to worry about shaving another ounce afterwards.
  7. About 4 weeks. Stuart quoted 8 weeks lead time.
  8. Dont know if they are lighter, but I like my MG hard chrome 17 rnds with CZC basepads, CZC follower/spring, 23+1 reloadable. Here is a post on my CO build, may be of help.
  9. I just put one on my MPX, after checking out a squad member that had one on his PCC at a recent local match. I really like the mount that came with it, puts it at just the right height. The DPP was too low, my thumb on the top of the forearm was in the way of the sight picture, so I had to put on a .5" riser to get my thumb out of the field of view. No prob with the 510C. Oh, and I got the Green Dot too. Just need to get it sighted in and put some rounds down range to see if I like the circle dot. From what I have been told, it's pretty quick to just frame the A zone in the circle.
  10. Got my S2 slide back from CZC, sent it in for their CO cut. I like their optic plate cut because I did not want to be locked into a particular optic. It's still a little heavy, but with minor tweaking I can get it to make weight. I have a poly guide rod and LOC LW grips on the way. The poly guide rod (.5 oz) alone should give me just enough. I've already deleted the front sight post (only need one red dot in the window! ), and have the thin safeties on , so I am pretty confident it can make weight pretty easily. If I need more I will swap the mag release with just a pin. Below are some numbers for future reference. S2 with DPP, thin safeties, no mag, 41.3 oz With MG 17 rnd mag, hard chrome, ext bp, CZC follower/spring, (my preferred mag setup, 23+1), 45.1 oz With MG 17 rnd mag, hard chrome, +2 bp, 44.7 oz With CZ 18 rnd mag, short bp, CZC follower/spring, 44.6 oz With CZ 16 rnd mag, long bp, 45.3 oz
  11. Dykem is a good idea. I used the straight edge from a carpenter's square to verify pin is perpendicular to tool head.
  12. Nicely done. Your pic of the slide, you pulled the sight and just have the pin in to retain the bushing. Any issues with the pin staying in there? I thought I had read somewhere here that the sight helps to retain the pin, and it was better to cut the sight post off and just have the base, to cut weight and retain pin. Just seeing were I can loose a few more oz if needed. tks.
  13. Yeah, kinda disappointed. Plus my mags and base plates and spring/follower are all from CZC. I really wanted the plate mounting system, so that I wouldnt be locked into a particular RDS. Will try the easy stuff first.
  14. W231 and WST. Many tens of thousands down range with these behind 230gr RN.
  15. I just got my slide back from CZC. DPP mounted, with shield, and with 17rd MG mag and MG extended base plate, thin safeties, etc, weighs in at 45.5. Not real happy. Going to try first: - poly guide rod ( .5 oz) - LW Lok grips (.4 oz) - remove front sight (? oz) If this doesnt get me closer to 44.5, will try the TTI extensions next. Other suggestions? (I could not find Rowdyb's CO build thread, if anyone has a link that would be great.)
  16. I have a 1050 with AmmoBot, no problems loading WST with 45ACP. Cant forsee any issues with 9mm. Loaded 10s thousands 9mm with W231, with no problems. I have 3 tool heads, one for 9mm, one for 45, and one for processing brass (9 and 45). I process all my brass before loading.
  17. 4.1gr with 124 gr Zero (actually weigh 125), 1.100, make 130PF out of my CZ.
  18. In Lead We Trust has a great spare parts kit for the MPX. Small enough for rifle bag. Highly recommended.
  19. Get to Work and Refinement and Repetition. Learn the difference between speed mode and match mode, and practice both in DF. I took the 18 DF drills from both books, put into a 3 ring binder, use a timer/par time for each, record the time. 2-3 nights a week, 30-45 min total, each drill 3-4 min. You will be surprised.
  20. My preferece is DPP. The dot can be turned up so it is quite bright. I have two DPPs, and between the two they have been back to Leupold 3 times. I have an S2 with the slide at CZC getting milled, it will get a DPP when it gets back. I am running a Venom on my CZC 75 Black, and it is ok. Yes the dot washes out somewhat, but it is still a good optic. Just keep in mind that it is not if, but when a dot will fail on a CO gun. So having a backup optic is recommended. I am running MG 17 round mags with the extended basepads and spring/follower from CZC, gives me 23+1. Wished I had more sometimes, but they work quite well. Some stages I start with my 19+1, some with my 23+1, all depends on where the reload works out to be best.
  21. The general consensus that I have see, from those that have been reloading a lot more that I, recommend to NOT use the brass tip on a 1050. If you do, you are setting yourself up for a primer stack detonation. The blue primer tips are designed to be usable commodity and replace fairly often, to prevent this from happening.
  22. Steve Anderson's books are the best so far for me. I've tried Stoeger's. Steve's dry-fire regiment works. Period.
  23. I have a new S2 slide at CZC now to be milled, with the plate for a DPP. I was assured by Stuart that it would make weight, so I will see when I get it back.
  24. Give RHT a shout. They are great supporters, and offer great carry holsters.
