  1. USPSA competition rules were adjusted to reflect changes in equipment position requirements for Production, Single Stack, and Carry Optics, as well as the addition of a firearm-mounted flashlight. In the February 2021 USPSA Board of Directors Meeting, a few rules were updated in the firearm equipment appendices to make placement of pistols and magazine pouches consistent in all USPSA Divisions. The goal is to make the process easier for members to understand and less subjectively enforced at matches, resulting in fewer competitors moved to a less competitive division for their firearm at registration, and even fewer moved to Open Division because of their holster or magazine pouch position. This less restrictive change will allow members to use their “every day carry” holster position for Production and Carry Optics Divisions without being moved to Limited or Open where the holster position is less restrictive. With regard to the same consistent application of division equipment rules, the use of a firearm-mounted light was also approved. This should also result in fewer competitors being moved to a division where their firearm, usually their defensive firearm, is not competitive. Allowing the use of a functional mounted light to a firearm that meets division weight and size limit otherwise will allow those members to compete in a division where their firearm is most competitive. Please note that all other rules including the type of holster, height of the firearm, and distance from the belt have not changed. The Single Stack Division weight limit was increased to accommodate a wider variety of factory produced pistols common in the marketplace, specifically in 9mm. Here are the specific changes to the rules: o App. D2-D7, Item 14 – Changed to ‘Yes, must be functional’o App. D4, D5, D7, Item 12 – Removed reference to App. E3o App. D4, D5, D7, Item 20, 4th bullet point – Removed ‘Magazines may not be retained through magnetic means.’o App. E3 – Deleted bottom diagram showing equipment position in relation to hip boneso App. D5, Item 18 – Maximum single stack weight with empty mag increased from 43 oz. to 45 oz.
  2. Latest BOD minutes indicate that restrictions on holster/magazine-holder positions have been lifted.
  3. Does anyone know what happened to the IPSC Global Village ? I haven’t visited the site for about a year and noticed that it’s no longer running, just curious if it moved or was shut down.. I did find this forum: https://ipsctalk.com but I think that’s run by someone else, looks like it started last year.

I had the same issue, right-handed and dominant left-eye. I used the translucent tape for many years after reading it in your book. In my last years of shooting Open I took the tape off, I can’t remember why and found that I was no longer getting the double-vision sight picture from my left-eye. I was still lining up the red-dot with my right eye, because my left is dominant, what I could see was just the dot super-imposed on the target. Basically my left eye was focused on the target, while my right is lined up with the dot. It took a while to get used to it but when I switched to a CO type setup in 2014 I found my transitions and shot-calling improved enormously.
  5. Tanfoglio open gun…. more malfunctions that I could possibly recall, worst gun I have ever owned.
  6. The 1993 World Shoot was a fun match, the weather sucked though. I think it rained every day and this was before AM/PM shooting, every squad was on the range for about 8 hours for five days….
  7. If you’re taking part in a match anyway, and have reasonable writing skills then it’s a great way to recoup some costs. I stopped submitting articles as I’m not good at writing, it would typically take 10-20 hours of work for 2000 words. Writer’s block, ugh ! The photography part was fun while it lasted.
  8. Yes, but if you do write articles be prepared for a barrage of criticisms...
  9. They do pay for content, so its not as if they are looking for unpaid volunteers. There are probably many reasons why fewer people are submitting articles. Maybe contributors don’t realize that they can make a little money of their work. There used to be a lot of match write-ups but without accompanying photos they are not likely to get published, and perhaps that is contributing to the problem. How many people have access to a decent camera that can produce images of high enough DPI for publishing ? And how many RO”s will let a photographer put a camera down-range for those full frontal shots?
  10. Less glare, better weather sealing, likely to get more material around the lens that may be a distraction, and generally heavier. Generally speaking they are more reliable. May be easier to find the dot for beginners but practice should eliminate that problem anyway.
  11. That’s the way to do it.... karma will smile on you
  12. It looks like a great training tool for the real thing… Much of the sport is sight-alignment, transitions and movement. The only thing missing is the recoil management.
  13. i think there is an option in Practiscore Competitor App where select divisions can be merged together. If that option was available to a match director then they could publish those results in both original format and with two/more divisions combined together. The rules stay as they are but MD's could show both sets of results if they chose to depending on demand.
  14. I’m in a similar situation, I stopped shooting at the end of the 2019 season, after 30 years of shooting IPSC/USPSA. I got a mountain bike a few weeks back, I used to go to the gym a lot but all the COVID mandates made it unbearable. At my age it’s impossible for me to compete with the bike so its a recreation, not a sport for me. I miss the social aspect of shooting, as well as the competition, but frankly at this point I can’t see anything that will replace shooting. I’m just going to let go of the competitive aspect of my life. Once the COVID (and weather) starts to improve I will at least be able to break the camera out again and photograph other sports.
  15. I used to always tumble new brass after having the same problems. Tumbling fixed it
  16. I always used the listed weight (in your case 147). If the bullets weighed less than advertised then use the lower value.
  17. What version of Tapatalk is being used? On the Apple Store the latest is 8.9.1 (from last week) but the pro version has not been updated for over a year and is still at 8.5.3
  18. Whichever one fits your hand the best...
  19. I think it was 180 degree not 360 on the vertical jump. Tests could also be built into stage descriptions; For example start at point ‘A” and run to point ‘B’ before drawing or touching the gun. If it fell out then it failed the test and DQ, such stages usually started with an unloaded gun for some reason
