  1. It’s working as designed; Minor is supposed to have a disadvantage over Major when it comes to scoring. Controlling a minor caliber handgun is easier than controlling a Major caliber. That is why the difference exists. You are free to compete using a minor caliber round in Limited on that understanding. There are choices in the divisions but we simply cannot create divisions for every person that wants to feel special. Learn to master the gun in the division that you have chosen.
  2. Agreed, if we look at the original intent of the top four divisions, they offered real choice and while different, complemented one another. The four divisions offered choices in cost, sighting, magazine capacity, major/minor, magazine and holster placement, Now the differences are getting blurry, and the choices are less than they were before. This sport is not for everyone; By opening it to everyone, they are watering down the requirements, and to some extent the challenge that created the sport in the first place.
  3. I think that would qualify for ‘un-sportsmanlike conduct’, some professional sporting events would throw a competitor out for that.
  4. No first hand knowledge but from information gathered around the inter-web; There was an argument between President Foley and a USPSA member that included a suggestion from the former - to the latter - to go away and do something that is anatomically impossible to themself.
  5. Anyone know what this is about? https://uspsa.org/documents/minutes/20210520.pdf
  6. I wonder how long Limited would last if they removed the 10 round limit in Production, kept the magazines the same length but loaded to capacity…
  7. Sponsorship for IPSC matches is in the form of cash, I think the majority of the sponsorship for Nationals is in the form of prizes for the competitors. A level IV or level V IPSC match is above and beyond any USPSA Nationals. I think there is to much emphasis on the prize table, and not enough on the prestige of the match. It should be the biggest shooting event in the country… it isn’t, not by a long shot.
  8. If it was an automated tracker it might have been one of these: SoloShot3 Probably cheaper to bug someone when at a match, offer to video them using their phone too and everybody wins.
  9. His lowest velocity was within 1% of that required to make Minor. I sincerely hope that no-one here thinks these devices are that accurate, they are not. What does the * next to the bullet weight imply, is it the weight specified by the competitor, or does it indicate that it was weighed at the range? Every bullet that I’ve ever checked has been above the listed weight. The velocity of his rounds in that specific stage are UNKNOWN. One can speculate that 2 of every 5 rounds was light, but you can’t prove it. I still maintain that the root cause of these problems is the large popper.
  10. I tried the CBAX hanger a couple of years ago but found that I could not get the gun close enough to the inner belt for it to be clearly legal. If I measured it on a flat surface it was right on the edge of legality, and I was concerned about skirting too close to Open. I think it depends on the holster design, the mounting holes on my holster are further from the center line of the gun than they should to be.
  11. Anyone who claims this is not a problem its simply delusional, if it happens once it needs to be fixed. But this has been happening for years. USPSA is not going to fix it. What we need is a reliable plate mechanism that can activate targets. If the plate fails to fall its an automatic REF and reshoot.
  12. Thanks, the whole schedule feed thing could be done using the process I outline in the other thread, a camera to follow each SuperSquad, maybe another floating around, and perhaps another on the ‘best’ stage of the match that they could keep flipping to between the other feeds. I think the ‘value’ is dependent on the viewer; Family members/friends of competitors might enjoy seeing how their loved ones are doing, and vendors could take advantage of the advertising that such an endeavor could provide. Those banners that they have at Nationals are only seen by the attendees, but if the video feed was getting a lot of viewers then it may increase their Return on Investment. Putting up a feed with a URL to the companies web-site with special offers that are only available while their sponsored stage is showing might generate some revenue… It can also be seen as a service to the members. There is a better way to do what they are trying to do, and it can be done with existing tech, it’s not rocket science. Like the magazine, its interesting to some but the delivery method needs to change.
  13. Who is actually running the cameras/livestream, is it USPSA, separate company or individuals ?
  14. I think the only way to fix the popper issue is to design a cost-effective, light-weight falling plate target that can reliably activate a variety of targets. Clubs will buy them as they are cheaper and easier to set up (lighter) and more reliable. The decades-old poppers that were designed for 175PF will become redundant. HQ is not going to fix this issue so it may be up to the members to resolve it.
  15. I only ever reloaded my own brass, I would mark my cases. I never had an issue with loose primers with my Carry Optics gun for that reason. I would sort the brass when I got home, and any that were not mine were given to another shooter who would recycle them. If you use random range brass then you will likely end up with your issue as Open guns will wreck cases.
  16. Your shot cadence is very consistent through those videos, looks like you had a solid match.
  17. The vast majority of competitors would go to the awards, it was part of the experience. COVID may have played a part in this years Nationals, but it has been going down hill for a while. The match lacks prestige, it should be bigger, better, more challenging than any other match. Live coverage, constant match updates and information, all these build interest in the match.
  18. Nationals is not what it used to be; I’ve been involved in this sport for a long time, I’ve competed in three IPSC World Shoots, three European Championships, one pan-American championships and numerous Nationals. With the resources available in this country our Nationals could be the envy of the world. But they are not, too much money ends up in the prize tables, and not enough on the match. Typically, vendors/sponsors in IPSC matches support the matches with cold-hard cash which is spent on the range, props etc. A competitor can see where the money is spent, it’s all around them. They book a large ballroom for the awards with food, tables and chairs for all competitors and staff. Prizes were awarded to the top three in each division and that’s it.
  19. The popper is not in the same state it was in before the competitor shot it. It moved when it was hit, so it was hit twice before it fell.
  20. I don’t think there can ever be a level playing field with PCC. Practical shooting is a test of Speed, Power and Accuracy. It is not possible to test the accuracy potential of a PCC without exceeding the accuracy potential of most handguns. If they want to go ‘woke’ then they can abolish the classification system as it discriminates against those that have less skill. And participation trophies for all, so everyone gets to go to the prize table at Nationals… ”…and when everyone’s special, no-one will be”
  21. …and any food left over could be dropped off at the nearest homeless shelter.
  22. If they were using IOS devices then I would suggest that standard procedure would be to turn off the Automatic Software Update option in the Settings. I think it’s set on by default.
  23. There’s a whole thread on the live-streaming thing, I feel the same way about it as you do. I take it the vendor area was sparse ? The only time I saw a really good vendor area was at 1998 Nationals in PASA Park. It was huge, and busy. The RO response to filming has changed a lot over the past few years. I mentioned this in another thread, they seem to take a very hard line on it now. I don’t know the reason for it, but something has definitely changed,
