  1. I shoot all year round. You just have to dress for the cold. Of course its usually a lost match brass because of the snow.
  2. I took advantage of the EPL Life program several years ago. It has been one of the best things I have ever done. Paying a little each month and I never missed any of it, now I have my Life Membership.
  3. I switched from Glock to the M&P and its been the best decision I have ever made. I shoot the M&P a lot better than I have shot the Glocks. I have not had any reliability issues with my M&P's. I have carried the Glock on duty for over 10 years and the switch was a tremendous improvement on my qualification scores.
  4. I am all for eliminating the prize table. All though I do like raffle tickets for large items, such as firearms. With the proceeds going to charitable groups.
  5. I agree the confirmation packet could be changed. I was not pleased with it. I would suggest a simple email & a postcard mailed. I don't see any reason to spend $1.05 plus the other associated costs with it. If sponsors wish to have to advertising material sent, then perhaps they need to pick up the cost associated with it. Once again, I believe an email would be better suited & still provide the advertisers with their wanted exposure. Plus saving a few trees. The awards banquet has to change. Perhaps we need to learn from the golfers on how to put on an awards banquet? I don't know how they do it, but the few I have seen were very professional and well done. With the prize table, I would suggest using text messaging and a large Plasma Screens. You could watch the list of names advancing and know when it is your turn.
  6. I have one and its one of the best additions I have made to my 550b. I believe its well worth it, to help prevent a double charge on my 9mm or 40's. Alan has been great to work with. Kevin
  7. I barely ever see weak hand, shots past 20 yds, small steel, unloaded gun starts, requirement to load mag pouches from start, shooting from low ports, covered swingers with no shoots, etc. The US needs to embrace DVC and not just speed. Eric teaches to practice the things that you are weak at. Well I am at the Nationals and there is 1 stage with weak hand out to @25 yards, there are 4 unloaded gun starts and at least 2 shooting from low ports, that I can remember. So your a little off in your comments. Which country has won the most World Shoots?
  8. Actually in Afghan it trends towards (sometimes much) longer ranges. Curious as to why you would prefer to see short distance only type matches? I enjoy the variety of both close/long range stuff; both very different but equally useful skill sets, why not use 'em both? I would not want to eliminate 3 gun matches, perhaps we could leave the 3 gun as is, with the longer ranges. Then with a rifle/pistol match have them using shorter ranges and allowing 9 mm carbines. There are more ranges with less than 100 yard bays, than those with 200 yds or greater. This would allow more clubs to be involved in rifle/pistol matches. Because of the shorter ranges available, if you used smaller targets, you could still make it challenging for the rifles.
  9. I would like to see a rifle/pistol match. I am not into shooting Shotguns, I just don't like them. I would like to see more of a carbine match, using shorter distances and maybe smaller targets. In Law Enforcement, the average distance that a rifle is used at is @ 75 yards. I haven't heard what the average distance is in the sand, but I would not be surprised if there is a large percentage under 100 yards. If rifle/pistol matches ever become a reality, you would probably start seeing a lot of 9mm start coming out.
  10. I will not buy anything but a Fort Knox. I have 2 of them and have never had a problem with them or with Fort Knox and their customer service. You don't want to skimp on your safe. Look at the total cost of your firearms and the value of the other items you would put in the safe. I went with the highest temp and highest time, along with the safe that had the most bolts and thickest metal.
  11. I would send Kim an email. As I recall its not a problem, I thought last year I seen someone pick up their packet at the range. Kevin
  12. I just bought one this year and it did not have a gun rug / pistol sleeve with it. It did have the brass bag. Kevin
  13. It was told to me the tradition did start in the medieval times but that it started with church's. The priests would require the removal of hats while inside the church, which then spread to, when you were a guest inside someones home, you removed your hat in respect. I have never had anyone give me a very good explanation of why it was okay to wear a cover when under arms other than the obvious common sense explanations. Kevin
  14. Does anyone know the history of removing your hat while inside? Where did it start and why is it done? Also why if your under arms, its acceptable to wearing a hat or cover, while indoors? Kevin
  15. I agree Caleb, you were a class act on Top Shots. I was sorry to see you leave.

  16. A very good friend of mine survived this. She has been cancer free now for 10 years. Keep the positive thoughts, it is survivable. Kevin
  17. USPSA charged my credit card, so I guess I am in for Open & Limited. I am looking forward to it!
  18. It is a very basic course. They follow a structured lesson plan and work on the basics of competition shooting. It is not a self defense course or an advanced competition class. I feel the advantage of this course, is you are able to ask questions of a Grand Master on different aspects of competition shooting with out feeling like your free loading or stealing from him. I know a lot of the Grand Masters of our sport willingly share their knowledge but I feel better when I am paying him for his knowledge or instruction. Just by taking the course will not raise your classification but I believe it will help you become a better shooter. I traveled 500 miles to take the class and I thought it was worth the cost for me. I know of some, who had higher expectations of the course and were disappointed but I believe they were looking more for a private coach or tutoring. When you take a class with several students, the instructors have to teach to the lower majority skill level. The course isn't too physically challenging. If you can shoot a USPSA club match, you will be fine. It is more cost effective if you can bring them to you. The travel cost's really add up
  19. I sent the pic to an old-timer friend. This was his guess: The guy on the far left is Nastoff and the far right Barnhart. Second from left could be Mike Plaxco. Is the second from the right, Bill Wilson? Its funny to see all but one using a Weaver Stance. Kevin
  20. Ray Chapman pioneered cross draw holsters, back in the day. It was very common in the early 80's. Kevin
  21. It was placed in there by an attorney.
  22. What would be cool, would be an application to use a iPhone/iTouch. You could have a dock at the press, insert your iPod or iTouch into the dock during the reloading process and then when finished take the iPhone/iTouch back to your desk top. A feature I would like to have is a computer data base of all of my load info by reloading lot. I like to load 1k to 2k at a time and then when I am done, I would like to be able to print out a label with all of the info on it. The label could then go in my data book or in the ammo container. Kevin
  23. Bingo! Great load. I am using the same load, with the exception of my OAL is 1.20 Kevin
