  1. Nick, persactically!!! I use a tungsten guide rod in my Para P14-45 and like it. However, as the first question was how to lighten a Para frame, I suggest not putting in the tungsten guide rod since that just adds wt to the frame. Blessed Be SharonAnne
  2. I shoot my Para 9x23 Open division pistol without any frame lightening. If you want to go lighter have EGW do their racing stripes and do a Big Swoop on the back of the slide. Also a straight 'pin' comp instead of one with any slide like contour will contribute to being lighter. Stay away from a tungsten guide rod too. Blessed Be SharonAnne
  3. my A/C failed on the 4th of July. tech was here less than an hour. $276.00. A/C works. did I get my monies worth? I think so. so should you. Blessed Be SharonAnne
  4. where can I find diagrams of Nato spec 9mm chamber and SAAMI 9mm spec chamber. Also .223 Remington and .223 Wylde chamber diagrams/specs. Thanks in advance Blessed Be SharonAnne
  5. one night I took my 870 IPSC 12 on the skeet range. You know, fiberglass stock with pistol grip, mag extension, side saddle. I was actually asked "what kind of double" my shotgun was. It seems it is the 'wannabes' that are the range prima-donnas. Those that have made it, the olympians, national champions, world shoot champs, they get it. Nothing to prove to anyone. We had a national high power rifle champ at our club. He was once ranked #3 in the country. This guy could shoot 6" groups at 1000yds with iron sights. Back in the mid 80s. He thought IPSC was cool, 'fun gun' shooting. Same for an old bullseye shooter, was on the PanAmerican team way back when. He could shoot upper A zone at 50 yd strong hand, iron sights. Thought those combat guys were just the most fun to hang out with. When you "get it" you understand that it is all shooting and all shooting is good shooting. Blessed Be SharonAnne
  6. the home page title is still "HOME" Blessed Be SharonAnne
  7. MAJOR BRAIN FART!!! Yes, 5.X not 7.X whew, thanks for the correction! Blessed Be SharonAnne
  8. Doncha just love the international aspect of BrianEnos.com!!! Blessed Be SharonAnne
  9. J the H back in the mid 80s such modifications were tried before the advent of compensators or 38supers. It will do what you are looking for, however, since yours would be a ONE OFF I think it would be in Open division rather than Limited. Unless you are planning to make 500 of them. Blessed Be SharonAnne
  10. Has anyone asked the Europeans what they are running in 9x19 major? In IPSC you must run 120gr bullets or heavier. Your 115gr ammo will not be allowed in the World Shoot. I would think asking a top European shooter what is used over there would be a good idea.
  11. from the looks of it, without the chamber flutes, it may have blown out the case head. +1 for fluted chambers
  12. OLD major 45 load was 7.x of 231 with a 200gr SWC
  13. I think BEs 18 rd Bill Drill was in 3 seconds. Need to check THE BOOK.
  14. I had an anaphylactic reaction, not to a sting but to a medication. Fortunately my Dr. office was only 5 blocks away and carried the required medication. With anaphylaxis often by the time 911/ambulance arrives it is too late. I strongly second having an Epi-pen. BTW, I am an RN Blessed Be SharonAnne
  15. Pardon my ignorance. Where do you get undersized sizing dies? Good luck Robbie. Blessed Be SharonAnne
  16. If you do not have the tools to do a proper trigger job then it will be MUCH cheaper to send it to a competent gunsmith. If you want to keep it then I support using the Brownells' kit already mentioned. Tweaking the mainspring without a GOOD trigger pull gauge is asking for trouble. Doing ANYTHING with the sear or hammer hooks without the proper tools and TRAINING is asking for BIG trouble.Dollar WISE, send it to a gunsmith. Having had work done by George, I suggest EGW. Blessed Be SharonAnne
  17. Sell a Remington 600!?!!?!? Blasphemy!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously, how old are your kids? How tall? My brother-in-law for his 14th birthday, received a sweet little 6.5x55 mauser. It is light kicking and works very well on deer. At 59 he still uses the same rifle. In a modern version may I suggest a Remington Model 7 in .260 Remington. Fitted with Remingtons' new recoil pad it will not kick any harder than a .243 and can throw a much heavier bullet if desired. And you can hand load down to around 100 grains if you want. Just a thought. Blessed Be SharonAnne
  18. I added a reply and thought i deleted the rest. Got it backwards. Anyway, what I said was, I have a Colt series 70 .45acp that has about 275,000 rd through it. It was fed a diet of cast bullets at whatever USPSA major was. It has no breech face erosion. My 9x23 Para Ordnance with a Caspian slide has 75,000 rd of USPSA major with no erosion. In the 9x23 I use Winchester small rifle primers. Not helpful, but feedback. Blessed Be SharonAnne
  19. OH, and on the 9x23 I run a Koenig hammer.
  20. Extreme Engineering and C&S hammer, sear, disconnecter sure do look similar. Nix any titanium firing pin. For years in my Para Ordnance 9x23 open gun, I have run a 15# mainspring, titanium mainspring cap, titanium strut, STEEL hammer. In my P14-45 I run a 17# mainspring, titanium mainspring cap, titanium strut, STEEL hammer. No problems with misfires. +1 for primer seating problem, NOT mainspring problem. But then, I load on a 1050.
  21. Dawson Precision has pistol specific sear springs. Blessed Be SharonAnne
  22. i do not want to drive anyone away. but it IS the truth. if you cannot afford 3-10 rd magazines how in the world can you afford entry fee, hotel, air fare, meals. his complaint is total BS. for the price of one restaurant dinner he can have the needed magazines.
  23. Iowegan, I HAVE been called a nut, sometimes even a gun nut. I have a few guns, not many. But I am a shooter, not a collector. I don't even have a backup for any of my competition guns. Talk about faith in your primaries! Anywhoo thanks for the information. Blessed Be SharonAnne
