  1. no rifles?!? DANG. case of foot in mouth disease.
  2. from what I could see he did not break the 180 but the RO was closer and had a better vantage point. But I think it was a bogus DQ.
  3. Hi Jane After using one for several years hunting deer, I can recommend the 6.5x55 in a light carbine. The best modern equivalent would be the .260 Remington in the Model 7. Put on a nice 1.5-6x scope and you are ready for any deer on the planet. For the doubters, the 6.5x55 is VERY popular for elk in Finland. In Europe, what they call elk are what we call moose.
  4. I have loaded the 9x23 since 1999, using a Dillon 9x19 carbide die. I have no feed problems. They fit in the EGW 9x23 case gauge.
  5. a shooter from Spain shot himself in the thigh back in '86. On that stage you had to reholster before running up some stairs. He had disabled the hammer drop on his double action 9mm. When he holstered he had his trigger finger in the trigger guard. It caught on the holster and BANG!!! He was ok but Spain was almost kicked out of IPSC.
  6. look in the Accurate Arms loading manual. They have loads for 155gr hard cast SWC that make IPSC major. The OLD 170 major.
  7. I will toss in my $0.02. I suggest moon clips for one simple reason. You will get your brass back. I used speedloaders and seldom got more than half my brass back. If it wasn't packed in units of 6 no one would pick it up.
  8. please help a confused 686+ owner. Is the Wishco Target Champion a Performance Center model for Europe or is it a model that Wishco has made specifically for them to market? Where can I get those way cool grips?
  9. I just came back from the S&W web page and could not find a "686 Target Champion". Where did you see it?
  10. ONLY 3.98?!?!? Sheesh, what does it take to make you happy?
  11. As a former cardiac RN I can just say, WAY COOL!!! That is excellent technology and you will do great. It truly is "minimally invasive". Heck, a heart cath to LOOK for a blockage is more invasive.
  12. years ago I was accused of sandbagging. My reply was, what have you ever seen me win at a big match??? I screw up on my own enough without sandbagging.
  13. in Phoenix we have A/C season and getting the A/C ready season. I do not miss the snow and ice of Michigan, but I do miss spring flowers and trees in bloom, and fall colors. Beautiful pictures, thank you Sig Lady
  14. it took me 10s of thousands of rounds before I started to see the "flash" sight picture I had heard of during 'double taps'. After a while you start to NOTICE what you have SEEN all along. You start to be aware of smaller and smaller fragments of time. The Grand Masters do not see anything you don't. What they do is COMPREHEND what we all see. It takes time and a lot of shooting. Sorry, nothing else will substitute.
  15. for a heavier than standard load try Corbon Hunter. They have a 150gr JSP at 2300fps.
  16. any other brand you would have paid for the parts and waited longer. BTW,Mike Dillon makes reloading presses, Bob Dylan sings (sort of).
  17. I bought a 1050 for $700. It had been used commercially to load .38Special. It was filthy. The main bearing rattled and you could move the inner and outer independently. The powder measure was worn out. The ram was rusted in place. I loaded it into my van, drove to Dillon, ( I live in Phoenix), put the press on my hand truck and wheeled it into the Show Room. The guys tagged it and told me they would call when it was ready. In under 2 weeks I had a totally refurbished 1050. It truly looked brand new. No charge! I proceeded to load 8k rounds in 10 weeks to prepare for the 2001 IRC. I was 4th Lady. I had owned a revolver for 12 weeks. Sadly in 2002 I was disabled and had to sell the press, for $950. The 1050 and now the Super 1050 do not have the lifetime warranty. It is considered a commercial press. Perhaps because it was my second 1050 maybe I got 'prior customer' treatment. All I know for sure is if it isn't Blue I won't buy it. I have owned several 'off' brand progressives. Never again!
  18. supposedly the sear/leaf springs are different lengths on 1911s, 2011s and Paras. I believe all other springs are identical. Why is this a concern for you?
  19. I would like to bend at the waist and touch my toes. With T10-L3 fused/fixed, that will never happen. So I guess, walk without braces or a cane.
  20. I never did clean my comp. I just shot 152/155s at 1200fps and it cleaned itself.
  21. what arms race? the formula for open and limited guns has been set for over 10 years. anything else is just a variation on a theme. Open, wide body, .355", pick your cartridge, comp, dot sight. Ltd. wide body and 40S&W. back in the 80s and early 90s the state of the art open pistol was in great flux but no more. Enough with "arms race" comments when it has been over for a long time.
  22. Gregg. You have some suggestions for light bullets. I would not sweat the difference between 152 and 155. In fact now that it has been mentioned, I think the first light 45s I bought WERE 152s.
  23. it is a combination of things. I wear custom molded ear plugs. 33db earmuffs, large glasses, a hat or visor and i keep my mouth shut. the glasses and hat/visor deflect sound impulses away from the face reducing bone conduction. Of course the muffs must fit well but the temples of your shooting glasses must be thin or flat so as to not break the muff seal to your face. The Peltor Bullseye III looks to be their best. I have not used the blue reusable plugs but they look interesting. Has anyone tried the Bose active sound dampening muffs? They supposedly put out a reverse of the incoming sound wave to cancel it out.
